  1. I was wondering if anyone ever tried connecting two of the same joystick into DCS and if it would trip them separately. Long story: I have two cockpits I built. One has a Saitek X65F and the other X52 Pro. The X65F is the second one I own since the first one I had the flight stick went dead on. So I have one throttle from the X65F, one complete X65F, and a X52 Pro. In my recent pit I used the throttle X65F for a collective. But I'm thinking I would like to have the X65F complete set in this pit as well. Would the DCS sim recognize them as two separate joystick or would it confuse the system?
  2. Just checking in...I used this on my other pit to configure the MFD and it worked awesome. I'm starting to build another pit and in the Helios documentation it mentioned the the EMC wasn't working with the latest version of DCS world. Is this true?
  3. I remember seeing a you-tube documentary on the UH-1 where the vietnam pilots of the time said they were training not to use checklist so they could get off the ground quicker in case they were in a hot LZ.
  4. Awesome...subscribed!
  5. Looks great! Is the main panel working with the gauges? I'm building a pit for the Huey and would like to use Helios for the gauges.

    How real?

I don't know...the FPS in real life seems kind of low. No matter how many carrots I eat I can't seem to get it past 30 fps!
  7. I think were missing the real point here. What if an asteroid hit earth and 90% of the population was destroyed. The rest of the populations would have to get together and re-build in order to survive. This means transporting them from their current location to the new location - this will require Huey pilots. But since most real Huey pilots might be around, it'll fall to us - the Simmers to operate those Huey and bring the people together. Now if I make the bold claim to the remaining society that I can fly the Huey and then look like an idiot looking for the start button - I might get put in some sort of confinement. Having the starter switch in the wrong location during my simulated training could mean the difference between my freedom or solitude. Ok enough joking around. If the button can't be seen and needed to be moved, let them. Who's to say that in some future release from Bell Helicopters there won't be a Huey model that will actually have the starter switch on the front? Of all the things to spend development time on, I'd put relocation of starter switch to the bottom.
  8. What happened to the payload descriptions? Do all the slots now have the same weapons load out? I wanted to use cbu 103 but I could not find out how to. Also, did the JTAC information change, I was calling Pointer on the right frequency but not getting any response. But perhaps I was using the AM button for radio instead of FM for the inner radio I will double check. Thank you for updating these to 3.9 :) I am also running the latest DCS World updated to 1.24.9.

    How real?

I've talked to our corperate heli pilots about simulator vs real life and they all say that the simulator is a lot more difficult to fly. One reason they say this is because you don't have your body telling you whats going on. There is a lot to be said for the ability to feel the hell rising or dropping that assists you in actually flying the thing. There was also a article I think from Evilboy-8 that he went for a Huey ride and was able to fly it fairly quickly after having worked on this module for DCS.
  10. She is. I think the collective gives it that extra realism that just adds so much to flying her. Finally happy with the A-10C setup on her as well. I'll post the setup sometime this week.
  11. I agree Scorpion that is would be nice to see some images of the aircraft in the DCS world. One of the reason I aided the MIG-21 project was because he has images/video of the aircraft in the DCS world. Afterall, anyone can draw a plane....but putting it into our world is the hard part. I'm still optomistic and hopefull that they will succeed.
  12. Eagle13, I've looked at your website and seems like you have a good basic knowledge of the aircraft. I watched your youtube videos and they are pretty cool. I'm very interested in this aircraft and would love to see it come to the DCS world. Are you planning on having the three variants of it modeled? Specifically will you have the Navy/Marine one modeled? Either way, should be awesome to have a fifth generation fighter.
  13. I thought the f-35a was a fifth generation fighter.
  14. Sorry for the lack of updates. It's in the testing phase where everything is configured and tested. TrackIR - installed and working great. Huey: The huey is all programmed in and is a blast to fly with this pit! A-10C: This has been taking most of my time the last week trying to find a good X52 configuration. I think I finally found one and today I was actually able to mid-air refuel for the first time in the pit. Will work on getting P-51 and FC3 programmed next week.
  15. Will do Bear. Love the Huey so far!
  16. I'm also looking for a X52 Pro profile for FC3 specifically for F-15C, A-10A, and Mig-29.
  17. That's awesome...where is that crane at?
  18. figured it out....I needed to clear the stuff in DCS for it to work.
  19. So my old pit uses a X65 stick and I always just programmed it within DCS and flew it that way. I recently got a X52 Pro for my second pit and initally I just programmed some keys via DCS to get some flights in. But now I downloaded the UH-1 profile and want to use it. I went into the profile editor and opened it up. I clicked on the blue dot that says profile. On the throttle MFD it says "Bell Huey" so it's active. But when I go into DCS it still uses what I had mapped before. Do I have to clear everything from DCS for it to work? Do I need to tell DCS something else to make it work right? I would love to use the stick for it's full capbility with all the modes.
  20. Thanks for the information. Always trying to learn and get better.
  21. Looking good! Can you provide a bit of detail on how you take an actual aircraft radio and wire it up for DCS. Seems like a cool thing to do and would give me a reason to scour ebay for some actual radios.
  22. Not that I"m aware of. But that's a nice one.
  23. I finished up some of the overlays for the pit and also got some color on it.
  24. Couples notes on this video: -I moved the radio panel a little away so you can see the collective better. -I've only had the X52 for a couple days, and trying to get used it vs my X65 that I use in my A-10C pit. TRying to figure how to tighten the control a bit so right now she's a bit loose. -I haven't wired the buttons on the collective yet. Once all functional tests are done I'll do that. -wanted to see if a dual picture in picture could be done in Imovie....so enjoy. I think I'm leaning towards painting the bottom part of the collective green and the grip part black with plasidip to give it a rubber feel. Anyone else use plasidip on thier pit? I did manage to spray pain a spare panel I had and it looks like I really dig the hunter green color. Seems to go well with the sim. So next weekend I'll try to paint most of it.
  25. The sticky tape collective was removed today in favor of a tubing/joystick model which didn't work well. Latest version is a throttle version which uses tubing and a dowel to connect it to the collective - and no sticky tape. I usually favor function over aesthetics. Once I've tested it and it works the way I want - then I'll worry about making it pretty. This pit is still in the very early stages of prototyping and things change on it all the time. So sometimes sticky tape is used to see if something works better. All part of the fun that is building a pit.
