I plan on fighting high whenever possible and bounce the enemy. If you try to dogfight down low then your just asking for trouble. Imo she will be the best dogfighter up top but the worst down low. The only thing she really has going for her down low is her survivability, I'm not expecting her to take 10 30mm rounds but she should be able to take more than most. One good shot can take any plane down but the Jug was known for taking hard hits in its engine etc and still making it home. They've even made it home on a few missing cylinders. As far as I know the Jug operated at around 65"hg without water and around 72"hg with water injection. I don't really know much about the different fuels used during the war. Found this, not sure if we should expect better performance than this or not, were better fuels than this used during the war? http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/p-47/p47-26167.html

I definitely hope to see a more appropriate plane set in the future. I def would like to have the 109G and 190A in game at some point, along with some variation in the allied set as well like maybe a razorback or something along with others. I also want of see alot of variation when it comes to ground targets like trains, buildings, factories, trucks, horse drawn carriages etc etc, that way I can always have something to shoot at in my Jug. I'd like to see the same thing for the German side as well, I'd like to actually have an intercept mission against bombers etc etc. Also, I agree with VinnieJones. I'd like to see some cross channel missions and a good bit of the French and British mainland that way we could do missions for multiple operations like the Battle of Britain (if they add the proper plane-set), Normandy, Post Normandy etc etc.

Same, can't wait. I really can't wait to test how well she handles in a fight and if she is going to be rugged like irl. I've never played a sim or any other game that has modeled the Jugs ruggedness, I'm not expecting her to be invincible of course but I expect her to be able to handle much more punishment than most aircraft can. I've never heard of any fighter that could take the same amount of punishment as the Jug and I hope this is represented in the sim. I also read that she was one of the best dogfighters at high alt. Down low she wasn't the best but up top she was king. I have very high expectations for the Jug.

Thanks, I don't really have much hope of it coming out this year but hopefully it will be released in the 1st qt of 2017. I'd feel alot better if we could just get some more news on it, like some screens or something because all we have now is some cockpit screens. I'd just like to know how far they have to go before releasing it, or at least how far they have progressed in it's development. The Jug is my favorite aircraft so I really can't wait to fly her. It's definitely gonna be a breath of fresh air once we get her.
-
Any idea how far along the production of the Jug has come? Or is it still early wip? I can't wait to fly her but I really don't want to have to wait another year to do it. Hopefully we get some news once the Spit and Normandy map release. And hopefully the production will speed up after 2.5

I hope it is, the A-6 is one of my dream aircraft for dcs

Agreed

Added a pole to get a better visual of what yall think.

Sounds cool but I think they would still kinda be making two maps so it would be the same workload. The geography would be almost exact but they would still have to create all the buildings and everything to go into the map. I like the idea though.
-
I thought the meteor was already being made by a 3rd party dev? or are yall talkin about another aircraft?
-
So you use emergency rich mixture? I've never tried that before, does it help? When going wep I just always leave the mixture alone, I never thought to mess with it.
-
I'll do some test next time im in, I think it must be tied to temps because my engine rarely fails unless it overheats or gets hit. I've rarely ever had an engine just seize up on me in flight, usually it gives me signs before it quits on me. If your engine is just freezing up you may want to check if your pulling back the rpm before the throttle. I find that if I pull the rpm back before the throttle I get engine trouble. pretty much just keep the rpm in front of the throttle at all times and you shouldnt have problems.
-
I use it sometimes when I'm in a tight spot or when I have time to open my rads before combat, but most of the time I just use max continuous. Or I just set the RPM at 3000 and just use the throttle, you just have to make sure you have enough airflow to cool the engine, if I go vertical for to long or to much my engine starts to heat up. I usually don't have much of a problem in dogfights when I'm flying with friends and we stick together, only when I fight alone do I really have problems. Teamwork makes the dream work.:smilewink:

That would be cool, but I still want the ability to have fully custom skins, that way I can have my own squadron skin. I also don't think you have to worry about having hello kitty or reno air races because it would be up to the server owner to add it, if he only wants realistic skins then their will only be realistic skins. I'm not saying players should be able to create their skins on the fly and just use them without anyone permission. The skin would have to be approved by the owner and then the owner would have to add in. The server owner has all the control on whether it is in the server or not.
-
What do you mean? players would still be limited in what they could choose, the whoever runs the server is in control of the skins and can choose what skins are allowed or not. I don't see much of a problem
-
One of the main reasons I would like this, granted it would still be up to the server owner on what skins are in the server, but at least it would open the door to custom skins in mp without having to be the owner or part of their group or clan..
-
I think I get what your saying. You just want the option to disable the ability to change skins? And you would like to be able to choose what aircraft are able to be repainted or not?
-
Like I said, it's the mission designer/ server owners choice on what skins are in the server. He can always set rules/ restrictions on what skins are in the mission. He could always make it ti where there is only 1 squadron skin or something.
-
Not sure I understand what you mean, but my thinking is that it would be up to the server owner to add the skin or not and maybe each skin could only be in use by one layer at a time? that way you don't see exact copies of the same aircraft.
-
This is exactly my thinking and why I feel it would be put to good use.
-
That's why I said it's not a priority, and they could always make it to where you choose your skin in the spawn menu before your aircraft spawns for "realism sake" (thats what rise of flight does) and if they really want to point out thats it s not realistic, I can point out a few unrealistic things that are already in-game:) I know most players probably don't care but coming from rise of flight, I always liked having my own identifying marker on my aircraft, it would also be nice to be able to have our own squadron skins in multiplayer for when you fly with friends.
-
That's a shame, it's a great feature and I think players would benefit from it. Hopefully they hear this time, just gotta keep the thread goin I guess or get people interested.

For as long as I've been playing DCS online I've always wanted the ability to pick my skin for my aircraft but instead I have to choose from a pre-selected list chosen by the server owner. This isn't bad but it limits my ability for customization and identity. I propose a system like Rise of Flight (great ww1 flight sim by the way), where you pick a plane and then you can choose from a list of skins for that plane. The way Rise of Flight does it is they have skin packs with a ton of skins, you don't have to download the skin packs unless you want to use them, if you don't download them you'll just have the default skin. DCS already has a good stepping stone to add the ability to select skins, sense they already have the ability to customize your load-out and fuel amount all they would have to do is add another list in the same screen that allows you to select your skin. The sins that are in the game would be up to the server owner, so they could create their own skin-packs that people could download and use instead of dcs devs having to create the packs. This would also open up the door for players to have their own custom skins in the server (if the server owner is willing to add it) Another more simplistic way you could do this is like war thunder where players can customize their skin but only they can see it(kinda boring and pointless in my opinion) I know this isn't a major thing but I don't think it would be too complicated to add in-game and it would give pilots a feeling of uniqueness (also squadron skins)

I guess this is a good a place as any to post this. I used to be able to play dcs at good frames but now it starts to lag after a while in-game, it's not severe but it's noticeable and kinda makes the game unplayable. the only way I can fix it is to restart the game or my pc. System specs: Windows 8.1 61-bit Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3 i5-3570K@3.40GHz 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz AMD Radeon HD 7970 3gb Do yall think my gpu is the problem? I plan on upgrading it once I have the money but I just want to know if it's the problem or something else. Edit: I plan on upgrading to the r9 390 or 390x, is this a good upgrade or should I get something else?

I know this has probably been asked but will any of the FC3 aircraft be upgraded to the asm (clickable/interactive cockpit) I know that they are working on the pfm for the aircraft but I haven't seen anything about adding clickable cockpits.
