  1. I know, she was also prone to catching fire but overall she could take just as much dmg as the 17 and she was well liked by crews from what I've read. Despite her difficulty to fly, I'd still fly her over the B-17. Also just a quick question, what are the differences between the afm and pfm? And what are the other ww2 modules model level? Edit: just read the thread about the different levels of modeling and after reading it I def want the pfm for the bombers and all other aircraft for that matter.
  2. I'd prefer to get as close to the real thing as possible, full immersion, no shortcuts. I will never be able to fly one of these machines irl so I wan't something as close to the real thing as possible. Players who don't fly bombers or aren't interested in them might not care about how in depth it is, but I definitely expect the same level of detail that we have in all other ww2 modules. I don't care very much how long it would take to develop because it would be worth it. The devs could just add an ai bomber in the mean time. Besides, they never said they were doing a player controlled bomber from my understanding, just an ai one, but I hope they will make one someday and I hope it's as detailed as the other modules.
  3. I still play the mighty eighth, it's a great game and still enjoyable after all these years. The ability to fly heavy bombers like the B-17 or B-24 would be great fun and would bring a new element to the sim. We just need more ground targets like oil refineries or factories.
  4. If they make a flyable B-17 then you could just make a mission against ai
  5. Multi Crew. I'm not into medium bombers, I like the heavy high altitude bombers, the heavies would also give me a reason to fly the pony at high alt instead of staying at low-medium alt. Besides, there already making an ai b-17, why not go all the way with it? alot of bomber pilots (myself included) would love to fly the fortress and have that experience. Also the engine management and engineer thing is why I think it would be a good idea to allow the co-pilot to be able to switch positions, that way he can man different gun positions bombardier positions etc etc. and ai would just take over the guns when he's in the co-pilot seat or when acting as the bombardier.
  6. sikorsky h-19 chickasaw, very cool early helicopter.
  7. Agree with you 100% I think the dmg model should be top priority when it comes to ww2. And I hope they model dmg to what you've said and even more. I hate how I can put a ton of round in some dudes engine/fuselage and he wont suffer and fuel/oil/coolant leaks and he just continues flying like nothing hit him. Also more variation in what can be dmg would be cool. Some more visual effecs like holes in the wings from flak or bent props or pieces of the aircraft missing/crushed. Visual dmg model is less important so I hope they focus on the internals like oil, coolant, and fuel leaks etc etc Some heavy bombers would be nice, that way I can fly high alt escort missions in the stang and jug. Some variation in ground targets would be cool for bombers and for fighter bombers like the jug, I'm thinikin trains, factories, buildings, wagons convoys for ammuntion, etc etc.
  8. From what I've read on the forums, the cooling system dmg isn't modeled or something as well as fuel leakage. I got hit in my fuel tanks and didn't loose any fuel or anything, it was just some more holes in my plane. The dmg modeling def needs work imo, the devs know this and are working on it from what I've read on the forums.
  9. I hope not. Why would you want to limit what we have? The reason I like DCS is because it's level of immersion so I hope bombers and the heavies (B-17, B-24, etc.) have full interactive cockpits like the P-51 and other aircraft.
  10. Personally i think the ability to walk around the plane to be cool, but I think it would be a little much, I prefer a B-17 Flying Fortress the mighty eight where you can't walk around but you can choose a compartment of the aircraft to go to and then you can see the crew positions and select one etc etc. Or you could just make it simple to where you can just switch positions with the click of a button. And finally you could have it like call of duty to where you can switch positions and it shows an animation of you going through the plane to get to your position, it doesn't let you walk around freely but it still gives you that immersion
  11. Gonna be sweet. I for one don't really mind if the multi crew is limited to 2-3 players like Pilot, Co-Pilot, and a player to man the different crew positions. Or just a pilot and co-pilot to where the co-pilot can switch between crew positions.
  12. Can't wait for that series to come out. Band of Brothers and The Pacific were great series so I have high hopes for the Mighty Eighth
  13. I guess I just like underdogs and ugly ducklings. I think that's the reason I like the B-24 and P-47 so much, they were overshadowed by "prettier" aircraft even though they played a huge part in the war. Photographers from ww2 even said that they liked to film the stang and B-17 because they just looked better. I for one thing the B-24 is the most beautiful bomber but that's just my opinion. I hope they do make a full flyable model, I would love to be able to fly this beauty.
  14. Ah ok, that must have been what it was, I'll test it out sometime just to see if I can recreate the situation.
  15. So basically it lets you go higher power for longer? or am I misunderstanding? I'm just wondering because I know I'm able to push the mp up to 70-72" in game already so I was wondering what the big deal was with this fuel.
  16. B-24 is the bomber I'd like to see, it's been overshadowed by the B-17 but it played a large role in the war. It had a larger payload and farther range than the B-17.
  17. So what exactly does the 72" or new fuel do? I'm having a hard time understanding. In-game when I go wep I'm able to get 70-72" on the gauge, would new fuel or whatever enable you to be at 72" for longer? Any help would be appreciated, put it in simple terms if you can.
  18. Imo the spit is going to do very well in dogfights, it's just not going to be able to run away very much. I for one am going to love flying her, and when the 47 comes out I'll fly it most of the time. I will lose alot but at-least I'll enjoy flying her. I like flying underdogs because it makes winning a fight that much more rewarding.
  19. Doesn't the spit have a good turn rate? Won't that give some advantage in dog fighting?
  20. I agree with you that the 109 is definitely better down low, another thing that is good about German aircraft is that you don't have to worry about engine management as much, it's a very simple machine to learn. I also agree that the dmg model needs a lot of work, I'm not sure but I read that coolant, oil and other types of dmg isn't implemented in-game? if thats the case I can understand why the 51s guns are less effective at the moment. Overall I enjoy flying the mustang much more than the German aircraft, the mustang has better handling imo and is an easy ride once you get used to the engine management. One thing I can't stress enough is to use flaps when you turn, when I'm doing a very tight turn I usually go 20% flaps, I can out-turn the Dora and on a few occasions I've turned with the 109 and stuck on his tail. Flaps help alot.
  21. I would love to see the B-24, I know its not the most popular bomber of the war but shes my favorite, and in my opinion she is the best looking bomber.
  22. Any estimate when she'll be released? I'm trying to decide if it's worth saving my money or just buying a different aircraft
  23. Looks like a P47m, very good aircraft and it would be a closer match to the current lineup, the P47n would be even better.
  24. In my case its definitely pilot error because I see mustang pilots online that do very well, my biggest problem is tight turns, everything else I can do pretty well.
  25. How are you able to stay behind a 109? I find it difficult to stay behind a 190 most of the time, especially on multiplayer server. No matter how hard I turn I can never get behind them and I usually stall even at high speeds.
