  1. Yeah, the R-2800 is a monster of an engine. I'm hoping for 70" as well, every bit helps.
  2. I agree, hopefully we get it this year.
  3. From my understanding they have a WW2 team working on the Jug already, so it could be out this year. The F-18 and Jug are being developed by different teams I think. At least thats my impression from a recent q&a vid I saw.
  4. Two reasons. 1. What the above poster said. 2. They act as windbreaks to help stop erosion and keep the fertile soil from blowing away. We do the same thing in Louisiana.
  5. They did it in real life so I'm sure we'll manage. I just wish they'd release some news on it. At least just an acknowledgment that they are working on it.
  6. I don't see why everyone seems to be against adding it. If it's accurate and was used at the time then it should be added to the sim, regardless of whether it makes a difference or not. Same goes for the G suit, if it was used and is accurate then it should be added. This goes for the German aircraft as well, if the German aircraft are missing anything then it should be added if it's historically accurate. Personally I hate balance, balance ruins sims imo. I want to see the aircraft preform and have the things that they had historically, even if it means that the aircraft is inferior or superior to the others.
  7. I would really like to see a CH-53 in-game. It's by far one of my favorite helicopters.
  8. Are they even working on this module? I don't see any info on it. I hope they still plan on making it, I was really looking forward to it.
  9. The A-10C is a great module, one of the best imo along with the Mig-21. Me and my friend finally decided to learn to use the A-10C a few days ago, after about a day of flying we got most of the basic systems down pat and we are working on more complex systems. You can learn the basic systems really quickly (start-up, using mavericks, dropping gbus and dumb dombs, etc.) Of course even the basic things like dropping gbus goes even further in-depth and will take more time to learn. So far the hardest thing for me to learn is the navigation. This module is great despite the learning curve, it's one of the most enjoyable aircraft to fly.
  10. every time I try to save my preferences as dcs open beta it crashes and says that it has stopped responding. Then every time I try to open the program it crashes.
  11. I actually find the spit to be the easiest aircraft to taxi, take off, and land in. One thing that helps with taxi is the controls used. This is what I do, set up your rudder pedals if you have them, then map the brake lever to one of the toe brakes on your rudder pedals. This way you can have a smooth increase in brake pressure and can apply as little or as much as you need. Another thing is to watch the pressure gauge for the brakes, this way you can see how much brake pressure you are applying to each wheel. Practice makes Perfect.
  12. This. Doing some ground pounding will be fun as well.
  13. I think they'll have a good balance once Jug and Ai B-17 is out. P-47 will be king up top P-51 (with proper settings) can handle itslef at mid-high alt. Spit can stay down low and force enemy's to go mid-high alt or fight low.
  14. I read that it was the P-47 that destroyed more aircraft overall, whether it be from ground attack or dogfights the P-47 did the most damage. I might of seen it in a documentary, I'll have to try and find it. I'll have to find some sources so don't take my word for it.
  15. Anyone know if any P-47 blueprints exist? I know aircraft like the P-51 have blueprints that people use to create reproductions but I wanted to know if the same could be done for the P-47.
  16. Seems strange doesn't it. I guess there's just more data on those birds. My question is what are they going to do if they don't find the data? Just cancel the project? I hope they finish it, the Jug is the only module I'm really interested in.
  17. I hope so. I can hardly wait for it to come out. My favorite warbird of all time. Now I just need to win the lotto so I can buy myself a real one, I heard there is a Crated P-47n somewhere inside of a B-36 in Ohio. I heard it's never been used and is just sitting there.
  18. Any luck on finding the needed info? Found this but I'm not sure if its useful or what it means. http://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc65259/m1/13/ http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/p-47/Naca_TN_2899__F-47D-30_Flight_Test.pdf The 2nd link looks pretty interesting but I don't know if it has the necessary data.
  19. So you can have the best possible K-4 but we can't have the best possible P-51 with historical ratings and ammo? Seems about right. I haven't seen much of a difference in the K-4s performance online but I could be wrong.
  20. I completely agree that fire needs to do some serious damage but I also think it should be able to be put out. Another thing that bothers me is that when you damage the control surfaces of the aircraft it seems to do nothing to it and it just shrugs i off like it was nothing. These are both problems for all the aircraft and need to be fixed. I hope to see all of these things implemented in the new dm or added to it at a later date. Fire- Fire needs to do damage to the aircraft and pilot over time. The longer the aircraft/pilot is on fire the more damage it does. You should be able to put out an engine fire if your lucky. Smoke- Smoke doesn't always mean fire but it does indicate a serious problem with the engine. If your aircraft is smoking then you should see some ill effects to your performance (engine dies, lose power, etc.) Coolant- Losing coolant is obvious and should cause your engine to overheat, the more coolant you lose the more susceptible your engine is to overheating. Eventually your engine would just die do to overheating. Oil- Oil does many things for an engine, it lubricates, cools, cleans and does many other things for an engine. Without oil your engine is toast, maybe not right away but over time your performance will go down and eventually lead to engine failure. Without oil your engine wont cool properly and would eventually lead to overheating even with coolant. Overheating= loss in performance and eventual engine failure. Fuel/leaks- Fuel needs to have a chance to catch fire/explode. As your fuel tank gets damaged it will produce leaks (even in ss fuel tanks) and the more leaks it has the more likely a fire will occur. If a fuel fire occurs there is really no way to stop it and you would pretty much have to bail out. Fuel fire needs to do tremendous damage and should pretty much be the death of an aircraft. Control surfaces- Currently when your control surfaces get damaged it doesn't really effect flight performance very much, if at all. If your aileron, tail, wing, etc gets damaged or looks like Swiss cheese then there should definitely be some decrease in performance. The more damage your controls take, the worse your performance gets. Structural integrity- As your aircraft takes structural damage it's structural integrity will go down. With decreased integrity you are more likely to snap a wing, lose parts of the aircraft, etc. It should also decrease performance the worse it gets, as your aircraft gets damaged you shouldn't be pulling high g or speeds for fear of snapping a wing, damaging a part, etc. These are just a few things I think need alot of work in-game. Some of these things are in already but they aren't modeled very well imo and need alot of work. I would also like to see updated visuals of the dm but that can always be added later and isn't really necessary. If it hasn't been done already I think we should have a wishlist of all the damage model features we want to see in-game. That way the devs know what we want to see and can add things over time.
  21. For cruising I just have it right at the edge of the green
  22. That was a good little fight. What it comes down to is just knowing your aircraft and practicing alot. The playing field isn't exactly even for various reason but a good stang pilot can take out a 109 with relative ease. Flying with a wingman is essential imo.
  23. The coolant temp should be the easiest to read, it's left of your rpm gauge.
  24. You can go above the green but never go above the red. My temps usually stay between the red and green area. The only temp I really pay attention to is my coolant temp, everything else I just ignore for the most part. As long as my coolant temp is ok then I'm good to go.
  25. Spotting is impossible for me as well, my buddy gets aggravated because I always lose contact with him because he goes invisible even though he's close. I hope they improve the spotting to a rise of flight level at least.
