You and your team did just great! As i do my own missions, including voice acting, (none of them has been released...yet), i know how much effort it takes to create missions like that! I'm really looking forward to play the next missions!
-
They also shot at me and i was manouvering like hell... Mission failure...as real as it get's! Dimitriov, what a great campaign!!! Wonderful, creative missions and tasks and a great immersion! And whoever complained about the british accend of Meatboy-1! It's just great!

How it works the polar coordinate system in the nadir ?

In 1.5 something between 500 - 700m. In 2.0 something between 300 - 150m. -

I tried it both in 1.5 and 2.0. The accuracy in 2.0 is better. I don't now why, cause the principle is the same and math doesn't change between Caucasus and USA ;) If someone finds out why there is such a difference please let me now. Other than that, it's just a great tutorial...very helpful if you play MP with a KA-50 for example! -
You sirs, improve this game so much! Thanks to every single one on polychop for putting so much heart in releasing such a wonderful bird and for beeing a role model in customer relationship!!! Kind regards, A highly satisfied customer :)

Oh yes! It does make sence! I also have a Saitek X52 only without pedals (yet). If you tweak the curves a bit it's absolutly handable. Go for it!

In that case: disregard my last transmission. I must confess i feel a bit stupid now:music_whistling: I thought, the auto-hover feature was just implemented in DCS to give the Player the opportunity to contol the weapons system. I didn't think of it beeing implemented in the real helicopter! So, again, well done Polychop. And in that case i'm absoulutly satisfied with the 10m radius and the wobbling! Also great news on improving it even more! You guys really rock!
-
Just a question: is this 10m radius made intentionally or is it a problem of maintaining the position developtment-wise? I think it's a bit...how should i say...exagurated. Wind shouldn't really be a factor aince you usually correct it during hovering. Even with crosswind. If i would have hovered like that during flightschool my ip would have kicked me out of the chopper:) And also the wobbling seems a bit unrealistic. Even I can hover more stable than the autopilot which is the best sign that it could be more stable in auto-hover. Don't get me wrong, it's really a minor problem and i'm not complaining at all. We can easily cope with this behavior but it just seems not to be right when it comes to realism.

Updated to 1.5.3.52724 (gazelle supported) and cannot use module

Thanks for the quick fix! -

+1 Same problem here. Can't even find it in the module manager. She only appears at the bottom at the start screen as a buyable model. -
Which is all a bit sad but no offence to polychop. I think (but i'm no programmer) that it must be possible to find a workaround for this problem. Something like a hidden farp where you still can place vehicles to refuel and rearm. Still hoping...someday...:smilewink:

Try 180° Auto's...your RPM is dying like nothing. It doesn't matter if left or right turns. Depending on the direction your rotorsystem is turning RPM needs either to drop or to raise. But it drops in both turning directions to the point the gaz becomes uncontrolable. Certainly not realistic.
-
Gotta check if it works at 3ft AGL. I think i was at about 5-8 feet most of the time...But i'm going to check that out. I tried different things..for hovering i used at about 65% saturation in pitch and roll axis and about curves set to 2. Yaw axis is about 50% saturation. Currently i'm back to 90% saturation for pitch and roll. I found out that it's more controllable for low level flight with this settings. But makes hovering a lot harder of course.

It takes a bit practise but yes, i am now able to achieve a stable hover in regards to height and heading. The trick is not to use to much pedals because they will influence your power (torque) and therefore your height. In regards to the foreward slip i noticed that if you make her light on the skids and then pull collective a bit faster, she will stabilize and stop the forward tendency. i could imagine that this is a RL behavior. The more i fly with her now, the more i have the feeling that the flight model is pretty accurate. Turns are still a bit tricky, but overall it's a pretty fantastic helo.
-
Sad to say, but it's not possible without a farp. Maybe some day the ed guys could fix that. Would be awesome to have missions where you could do that.
-
Perfect! Maybe i'll try my mark 3 missile warner...called wingman :smilewink: Thanks for the fast reply!
-
Just because i didn't find anything. I guess the gazelle doesn't have a missile warner for ir-missiles like manpads? And if anyone knows: does the british version have one? Thanks in advance!
-
I guess it's not the SAS, it's the huge fin that stabilizes the yaw axis above 60kt due to airflow.
-
Focha, I also recognized it. I also have a couple of hundred hours in the EC135 and some in the EC-120. The FM is awesome and pretty realistic i guess (haven't flown the Gazelle in RL) except for turns. If you turn you just nose-dive to the ground even without a great amount of bank. And if you try to counter the nose-dive behavior with applying aft cyclic you're loosing an big amount of airspeed. I'm might upload a track and maybe a youtube video to better understand what i'm up to as soon as i can identify and describe the "problem" a bit better. Other than that, it's an wonderful a/c. And for those of you reading this and thinking wether to buy it or not: Buy it!!! It's still great fun and an absolutly high detailed helicopter! Hovering and powermanagement is so close to real life! And i'm sure polychop may retweak the FM a bit (not much).
-
Your absolutly right. I might have expressed it the wrong way. To keep level flight in a gazelle requires the same amount of power relativly to the bank angle as in any other helicopter. But the torque required to do that differs from helicopter to helicopter. And since the gazelle has relativly less power than a huey and theefore less torque available you may need more torque to keep it level. I also recognized a tendency to nose- down when you turn. Gotta watch the artificial horizon when turning and apply a bit aft cyclic. But generally i think the tendency to decend that much is a bit "overexagurated". I haven't flown the gazelle but the ec-120 which has quite a aimilar rotorsetup, and it hasn't have that great atendency to decend as simulated in the gazelle. Try also to nosedown and gain speed...then try to level off. You almost need to flare before you climb again. A behavior wich i couldn't find in any helicopter i have flown in real life. Nevertheless, the fm of the gazelle is so far the best fm in dcs and polychop really released a masterpiece !

The thing is, with the gazelle - unlike the huey or the mi8 - your flying a relativly underpowered system. This means ins order to keep altitude you have to come up with a lot of collective. Just like in real world. I think in regards to bank angle and altitude there needs to be a little and minor tweaking done by polychop but overall this reaction would be a typicall real world behavior.

Thanks for this awesome fine piece of art! I bet you guys worked a lot the last couple of days so grab a beer and enjoy the releaseday! Cheers to you, Polychop and all the other Gazelledrivers!!!

Cant seem to find a bug at all. The t/r is covert by the fin and as long as you dont ram your tail into the ground you might have structural damage but the helo might still work properly at all.
