  1. A Fuel State (70% or 10%) in a helo doesn't nessecarily change the CG. But i agree with you the neutral position of the cyclic still doesn't change depending on the airspeed you want to fly. Meaning if i fly 60KIAS the stick should be more in it's central position while flying 130KIAS it should shift fwd. By the way, i can't trim via china hat - anybody else having this problem? For IGE and ground cushion i also think it's too less. I have the feeling that if you take her into a hover from ground on, there is a certain amount of cushion. But if you land and let her drop into the cushion it's somehow not powerful enough to counter your sinkrate. But: At this point, even as a real Pilot who has never flown the Gaz, i would say it could be perfectly possible that it is like that in real world. And i really can live with it. Nevertheless: The Gazelle is way more managable now and Polychop already stated that this ain't the final stage. But for me (and i was very critical about it) they proved that they are listining to the community and are reviewing and reflecting their product in a proper way. Even if it took them very long, the last couple of updates have shown, that they are on it. For the time beeing, i am happy that it just makes fun again to fly this little beast.
  2. Tested today! I must say it's muuuuuch better and feeling more natural! Really well done Polychop! Behavior during turns is much smoother and you have more control over the aircraft. It's not forcing you to counter your inputs that much anymore. Still not at the end though, but it's totally going in the right direction! I'm back in it from now on!
  3. You're right. The main problem (for me) seems to be the cyclic too. In the video stated below, you see how a swashplate works in combination with the cyclic. An increase in cyclic movement will result in a tilt of the swashplate and therefore in an roll or pitch movement of the whole helicopter. If you look at it closely, an input in the cyclic (X) is corresponding to a somehow linear movement of the swashplate (Y). So basically what i said in my last post: A left cyclic input (X) by lets say 2cm will result in a left tilt of the swashplate of lets say -20° (Y) A left cyclic input (X) by lets say 5cm will result in a left tilt of the swashplate of lets say -35° (Y) What i want to make clear is, that instead of having this X and Y relation simulated properly, the Gazelle rather reacts like: If cyclic input > 5cm = tilt the swashplate If cyclic input < 5cm = don't tilt the swashplate By the way, the Gazelles animation of the upper and lower swashplate is totally correct and working as intended. But it doesn't feel like the flight model is doing the same. Maybe the tilting of the swashplate is programmed too excessivly in the FM. Here is the video (very informative in general, but the important part starts at 1:34min): And a little note concerning this point "No IRL pilot has ever come on here to confirm that the real Gaz flies level at full speed with a centered cyclic.": I would say in my opinion the stick shifts forward by something around 8 - 10cm between hover and cruise speed in the Bell 407.
  4. First of all thanks for your reply! Well, for me it just makes no sense somehow. But you're right, i don't think about how to fly when i'm flying...i just do it. What's strange for me, if it's the case, that if an a/c keeps it's roll momentum then how would you keep a constant bank angle? You would be in an back and forth situation with the cyclic all the time during the whole turn. I also tried holding a constant bank with the other DCS choppers and it worked just fine. Don't get me wrong, i don't want to convince you for one or the other side. If the Gazelle feels good for you that's just fine! Btw, haven't flown a OH-58 but around 30hrs in a 407. This tiny thing is real fun to fly. No trim system but agile and powerful for it's size...and really fast.
  5. Okay, tested the Gaz again tonight. I think i found out what bothers me about the FM. In the real world (asuming no wind, no gusts, standard day) when i initiate a turn the following basically happens: Pushing my cyclic to the left/right for a certain amount results in a certain amount of bank angle. E.g. pushing cyclic to the left by 2cm results in a 15° bank angle if i hold the cyclic steady at this position (i know this is very simplified but basically what happens when you break the physics down). Now i tried the same thing in the Gaz. The Gaz starts turning at a certain amount of cyclic input but doesn't stop rolling at a certain amount of bank angle. It just keeps on rolling. I activly have to counter it with applying cyclic to the opposite direction resulting in a back and forth (or left and right) with my cyclic. So it's not possible to maintain a steady 15° bank angle. In order to make sure it's not me overcompensating my controls i put my saturation back to 10% in pitch and roll axis. I was pretty stunned by what happend. I applied left cylclic and a long time nothing happend. Still level flight. Then i just applied a tiny bit more cyclic and held it there when the gazelle startet to turn. This beast almost flipped over! I made a little video in order to demonstrate what i just encountered. Watch the red diamond in the red cross at the bottom left side closely. For me, this really doesn't feel like a real one. It's like if there is an internal deadzone programmed in it. If you overcome the deadzone, you will turn no matter how little or big the rest of the input is. It's totally digital...0 or 1.
  6. Thanks! Curious about your findings!
  7. Totally agree, especially to the last sentence!
  8. Well, also a real Pilot here. Haven't flown the Huey (sadly), but some experiences on the EC-120B. I can't really share your oppinion on the Gazelle. Here are some examples: Try to pull collective while sitting on the ground without even touching the cyclic or the pedals. As a real world pilot you know it would end in an disaster. Try it in the Gazelle: Of course, the helo will yaw and climb, BUT it will stay dead on spot without any roll momentum. Keep a level flight with appropriate power setting. Then try to nose dive with lets say an angle of 20 degrees nose down and recover that manouver with applying aft cyclic. Do the whole manouver with the constant level flight power setting. In real world, you would bleed off speed and start to climb again. The Gazelle just puts its nose up but will still decends as if you where flaring with no power applied like in an autorotation. Only if you pull additional - that means level flight powersetting plus some extra - collective you will get out of this situation. Do a slight turn with a 10 - 12 degrees roll angle with constant a powersetting in a zero wind condition. None of the helicopters i have flown would start to decend dramatically. Not even during a full 360° circle (maybe with a decend rate of max 50ft/min). And none of the helicopters i've flown would need great pedal inputs for such a turn. Guess what: Try it in the Gazelle. And again and as always: It's not Polychop Bashing here. I'm still a fan of Polychop and also like the Gazelle. And i know the devs are on the FM now which is totally satisfying for me. I just wanted to make clear that not every real world pilot is happy with the current FM.
  9. Perfect! Thanks!
  10. Gents! Still relativly fresh to scripting i'm trying different stuff. Now i tried a simple function like: if Unit.getByName('HUEY A'):inAir() == true then trigger.action.outText('OH NO', 15) end but it doesn't seem to work for me. I get no message when i'm airborne... Any advise would be appreciated!
  11. Um, from what i understand is that trees don't have LOS. They are just collideable. But still, enemy forces can "spot" through it if you're in the detection range. At least, when the Gazelle was released i tried a couple of manouvers with only the viviane sight sticking out of the treetops and was immediatelly spottet.
  12. Guys, i'm setting up a NTTR Training Range with different aircraft and scenarios that you can activate with the F10 menu. First of all, i'm a total scripting noob. I barely managed to make me a little script for the activation and deactivation of some units using the F10 Menu (There will be an a2a range, a gunnery range, an EW range and so on...). So i decided to add some fast rope actions for the huey and the mi-8 on different places. The problem is, i only can do it with the trigger menu inside the ME. And therefore it really gets complicated. What i did so far: to simulate the sitiuation when you're within limits for fast rope: HUEY A inside zone AND height less than AND height more than AND vertical velocity less than AND speed less than...> set flag 1 true to simulate the situation when you're out of limits: HUEY A outside zone, OR height more than, OR height less than, OR vertical velocity more than, OR speed more than...> set flag 1 false If flag 1 is true, a group of two soldiers will get spawed after 8 seconds, then after another 8 seconds another group of two soldiers gets spawned and until finally 8 soldiers are spawend after a total of 32 seconds to simulate that only two soldiers can rope at the same time (left and right). If flag 1 is false, no soldiers will spawn unless you meet the limits again to set flag 1 true. As you can see, if you need to do this for several helos (e.g. HUEY A, HUEY B, HUEY C, HUEY D) and then try to do it for several zones (ZONE A, B, C, D...) it's really getting confusing and messy inside the ME triggers section. Now i'm looking for a way to accomplish a more generall approach with scripting. I'm looking for something like if HUEY A or B or C or D is inside zone A or B or C or D and the parameters (see above) are met, the activate the group assigned to the specified zone. So, do you think it is doable or to complicated? I know the CTLD script from grimes has a fast rope part in it, but for me it's just a little to simple... I would really appreciate any input. Even if you tell me, that it won't be possible to achieve ;)
  13. Dont forget performance. Nice looking clouds would be perfect. But if it hits performance i would rather keep the clouds as they are.
  14. Thanks for the reply! I use a Ryzen 1600 @ 3.9 GHz and 16gb RAM. According to hwinfo the gpu is clearly the bottleneck while CPU usage gets barely to 70% on one core. Maybe i should also try a PD of 1.3.
  15. Would you be so Kind and Post your settings? I also have a Msi Gtx 1080 gaming x and i'm not really happy framerate wise. What i'm aiming for is 45fps steady with deferred shafing on, msaa 2x, shadows at least to low, visibility range to Medium and a PD of 1.5. Still dont know if i should just wait for Ed to sort out the actual Performance issues first or just go with the 1080ti... Edit: i tested over las vegas with the huey in 50ft and in the afternoon. In every other place on Nevada o could maintain 45 fps with the stated settings above.
  16. This is terrible! When i fly low Level it seems that objects belonging to buildings like an aircondotion or a balcony seem to grow right infront of me. Its looks like the building is rendered incomplete until you are like 300m away from it. It then starts to build the rest of the details. Hopefully this really is a bug!
  17. Maybe amd's vega won't be affected that much...I think Release of the New vega cards is planed around august. But i think you'll have to wait until december for reasonable prices...
  18. I second every word said! I think a x370 is too much. Stick with a good 350 board and your fine. Ryzen cant be oc too much right now. It has its sweet Spot somewhere between 3.7 and 3.9 GHz. If you're really want to be sure to get a high clock (3.9) get a 1600x because its tested. With the 1600 you'll definitally reach 3.7. More is up to the silicon loterry. What i did is Set up a Profile in ryzen Master for dcs with two cores deactivated and therefore a cooler System. With that said i can reach 3.9 GHz stable. And as i said, the Stock cooler is well enough for reaching 3.7 with all cores. Next week i try to speed up my RAM. But i Would also recommend buying 3200 clock cause ryzen really profits from higher RAM clock when the requirements of applications are highly CPU bound.
  19. I got the New Asus rog strix b350-f and am very happy with it. I reconnaised my RAM (crucial ballistix Sport 2666) immediatelly even with the non updated BIOS Version and is running very stable. Also temp wise its a good board. Have my ryzen 1600 @ 3700 stable with the Stock cooler but its getting a Bit warm (70-75 C) tested with aida64. So, A better cooler and im really happy and even Plan to go for 3850 with it.
  20. Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help! I fixed both Problems. Had vsync on all the time. Turning it off did it for me. Still have to tweak settings but its way better than before. Btw, is anyone using deferred shading on vr? Boy, its hungry for Hardware, but looks just awesome.
  21. Hey, I just bought a Rift and must say the immersion is wonderful! Right now i'm tweaking my settings and some strange things happend. I changed the PD from 1.0 to 1.7 ingame but i can't notice any difference. Then another thing: I tried to put ASW off in various ways (OTT tool, the debug tool, and CTRL + NUM1,2,3,4) but FPS is constantly locked to 45. I tried all settings to low and a PD of 1.0 but still FPS are locked to 45. My specs are: Ryzen 5 1600 @ Stock GTX 1080 @ Stock 16GB Ram @ 2666 DCS on SSD I don't know whats wrong here...Maybe i should completely deinstall the rift and install it again? I would be thankful for any advice!
  22. I nearly was in the same boat with a 1080. I monitored prices like a month long and when i finally made a decission to buy one, price went up again. I was lucky to find a b-stock which i'm really happy with. Maybe that Would be a good way for you too...I personally wouldnt go for a 1060.
  23. First Day buy! Omg!
  24. Sven, i'm watching the developtment of MOOSE for a long time now. The tool gets more powerful every day! This is really awesome and i can really see me using it. Thank you also for the great documentation which makes scripting (for a lua noob like me) a lot easier to understand. For the moment i'm still on MIST. But due to my job i don't have much time right now to learn new things. But MOOSE looks so promising, that i will try to learn (at least some basics) in the next couple of weeks. And as far as i understand, MOOSE works perfectly alongside MIST. Thanks for this great contribution!
