  1. In VR it feels weird if you leave your throttle and stick sitting on the desk where you had them when using TrackIR and a screen. You have your hands up near shoulder level operating controls that are not visible anywhere near there in the VR cockpit. I want my throttle and stick exactly where I see them in VR, so I feel that I can reach out and touch them. I moved my Warthog controls so they were attached to my chair and printed a 100mm extension for the stick and everything was in the right place. This was great, but it had one minor problem. The increased travel meant that I could not maintain my grip on the stick at full up elevator as I could not rotate my wrist backward enough . Not a big problem as a couple of fingers an a thumb was all that was needed to fly the aircraft. However, it makes it awkward to operate the various HOTAS switches if your palm was not in contact with the stick. I did some sums and determined that rotating the handle 20° forward would be a good solution. I tried tilting the whole assembly 20°, but that did not work. The Warthog handle weighs just over 1kg and its center of gravity is where your middle finger wraps around the front of the handle. The tilt moved the CG forward of the pivot point and produced about 1/3 kg nose down torque. Not good at all. Completely stuffed the pitch force linearity. Probably could be fixed by packing shims under the forward side of the centering spring inside the base, but that’s starting to get a bit too serious for me. The easiest solution was to get my trusty 3D printer to make another 100mm extension with a 20° bend but keeping the handle CG directly over the pivot point. Like this I could have printed the whole thing as one unit with the lower nut captured within the extension tube (3D printing can be magic!), but decided to be more conventional with 3 pieces that can be disassembled if required. I am very happy with the result. The controls now where they are in VR. With the latest update enabling full use of the Rift touch controllers I feel that I am sitting in a real cockpit now!   2. OK. All fixed. :thumbup: Did a reset and DCS then asked for authorisation serials for the Nevada and Normandy maps. Dunno why! Discovered that the thumbsticks on the controllers work for the rotary knobs and are perfect for setting trims and cockpit lights etc. However, can't click on the Menus now; have to go back to the mouse for that. Great update. It is almost like touching and activating things in the cockpit now.
  3. Not working for me after the update. I have tried with the mouse de-activated also, but no change. Left click only and no change in the laser color when rotating the touch controller. Are there any other settings needed to activate this feature? Is it aircraft specific? I have only tried with the Spitfire and Harrier.
  4. I am staying away from DCS World until touch right click is working. Then it will be great in VR. At the moment it is hopeless, but so close!
  5. Wooohoo!:clap_2: Thanks petsild. Now I can read the ASI without having to stick my nose onto the instrument panel. It is now the way it should be. Thanks for fixing it.
  6. Thanks petsild. I have installed your mod and noticed an improvement in sharpness. Every bit helps. However, the ASI is is still very hard to read with the same pointer width and color. Is it possible to make the pointer a bit thicker or brighter? Here are the two variations with the cockpit lighting set full bright Quick! What is the airspeed here? Normal With the mod
  7. Aggree. The ASI is unreadable under normal conditions. You should not have to lean forward and almost put your nose on the instrument just to see what the airspeed is. Surely it is possible to mod one of the files to male the needle thicker or brighter so we can see the damn thing! Anyone know where the file that defines the asi needle lives? I'm prepared to try to learn how to change the graphic just to get rid of this annoyance!
  8. Nice to see a HUD working properly. i.e. The flight path vector symbol stays in the pitch ladder, and changes mode to a VSI when below 60 kts. It will be great when the Razbam update fixes get it right.
  9. I can still remember the T-V-M-D-C sequence used in basic flight planning from years ago. You draw the departure to destination line on a map and measure its direction. It is TRUE, so that is the 'T". Apply the Variation 'V" to get the MAGNETIC direction 'M'. Do your sums to allow for forecast winds and apply the drift correction to get the magnetic heading you wish to fly. Take this number into the cockpit and find the little correction card near the compass and apply the correction ( the DEVIATION 'D') to the 'M' and get 'C' which is the COMPASS heading to fly. Then go flying and find that the winds are not as forecast so all your sums are wrong anyway. :doh:
  10. +1 also. Seems like the terrain and the icons are using different datums and become misaligned if zoomed. Makes the map view unusable. I don't think it is my monitor settings, as all is OK on 1.5.
