  1. Even though its getting old and I'm off topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdD54rG9oQA
  2. Well I think a good answer would be that most dont simulate that effect. There are a few joysticks out that do that but I think at the moment they're mostly WWII replicas and are floor mounted solutions add to that they are crazy expensive compared to even higher priced HOTAS sets most simmers dont have them. This is something I'd like to see in the PC flight sim market, more varied joysticks and controls to choose from with a more realistic approach. It can be done but since we are a limited market there is not a lot of money to be made so it probably wont happen. I would love to see a HOTAS like the old suncoms those were awesome sticks! EDIT: Didnt think of the Microsoft FF stick, personally I think it looks even goofier than the X52 but its a solid performer and well built.
  3. I think www.digikey.com may have them or mouser (not sure of the website). You can get almost any kind of switch you like at those sites maybe try mcmaster carr as well (dont know that site off my head either.
  4. Cool stuff I really need to figure out that google program but hey I've got paper, pencils and electric sharpener!
  5. Hey Cat reading up on you problems with the KE72 would a PS/2 to USB connector help? I have a few of these adaptors for plugging in old keyboards and mice to usb might help. In my work I always hoard misc. PC cabling, IDE stuff network cables, monitor extension cables etc...... stuff always seems to come in handy let me know if you need any of it!
  6. Thats pretty awesome Urze you definitely have a lot of love for this hobby to not only build stuff for yourself but other people too!
  7. LOL I tried using the mouse emulation feature to control my aiming in Battlefield, it could work but I got lazy and gave up on fine tuning. Free track is for do it yourselfers TrackIR is for the guy that buys his joystick rather than makes it!
  8. For someone like me with a projection set up it just wouldnt work. I'd have to mount the proj. and screen on the rig. I'm cool just being stationary at the moment, I'd rather spend that cash on a full blown pit anyways.....
  9. ^WOW with those links my level 77 Elf is sure to whoop some @ss! Damn spammers no shame, no shame..........
  10. Awesome stuff love to see pictures/video of that, its amazing how far we've come from just simming with a joystick and keyboard!
  11. I like the stick in the middle as well, it feels more natural regardless of the a/c im flying. And since I trying to work out ways to get my pilots license do they make 172s with sticks instead of yokes!
  12. I think in the last pic there is an F-22 parked in front of the tanker a/c, could be wrong though! Congrats! Really looking forward to this in the future!
  13. I'll have to wait the only russian words I know are vodka and glasnost!
  14. Cat and I are both around Stockton up north from you a bit of a drive but could be worse. I'd like to share ideas as well, and I still have racks with Cats name on them (LOL what its been a year almost! busy year though). I'm split between hagstroms and Xkeys I'll probably make a final decision after I hear from Cat exp. I do want to get started in a hurry. Between my current flight set up I can definitely make flyable work in progress, just need that collective control, Urzes set up is awesome I just want to keep my throttle seperate.
  15. Good thinking Cat I'll definitely be using this too, thanks for the links Oakes thats a a huge overlooked resource!
  16. It may be funny to think of the money involved in this stuff but there are lots of hobbyists out there that have the cash to drop on this stuff. I've found that the guys that are really into pit building are 30+ and usually are making a lot of money. I cant say the same for myself, but there are plenty of examples of guys dropping $20k+ building a 737 two seat pit. If you can build it someone will buy it. Good to hear from you Rocketeer, working a lot sucks but working less sucks more! Being in crisis management our business is starting to pick as companies are having more difficulty staying open, I was just in Seattle for the last week closing a digital photography company down, even though it was profitable it couldnt secure the additional funding to keep it going. Pit building is slow but I'm starting to design the actual structure and I'm hoping to start building soon. I'm still on my generic approach, I want to build the structure with the controls I have so I have a flyable in progress pit. I'll add the switches as I go, and I have a couple flat screen monitor I'd like to use for the abris and gauges. I'm looking at modifying an X45 throttle to use as a collective control without having to re-invent the wheel. I'm looking at if I can detach the throttle handle add an extension to the throttle arm then re-attach the handle sideways. The throttle would remain the same and the joystick half of it would be hacked to provide switces/axis', now if I can just do it! EDIT: I'm all talk and no action lately gotta get going on this stuff.............
  17. Sweet I've wanting to up the EXP on level 100 dwarf:megalol:
  18. Well I'm not sure on the plans either but a good thread to check out is TriggerHappy's in the tech forum. Hes building a full scale BS pit and he might be able to give suggestions or answers for your questions given the scope of what he's building. His thread should be on the first page.
  19. Just as an observation Urze (I'm not telling you how to do anything or what should work for you). I had an office chair that I mounted to a plank of wood so it wouldnt roll around. I took off all the wheels and drilled holes for the five points (each removed wheel had a peg that stuck out) and one big hole for the hydraulic middle pole. The chair still swiveled and could go up/down/tilt but wouldnt roll. I added casters under the plank for easy moving. Just an idea, when I get back from Seattle I can take a picture if your interested in the idea (pics speak louder than words). It was for a racing set up but it will work the same. Just PM if I forget, an easy project that can be finished in a half hour and you can always put it back the way it was if you dont like it!
  20. Thanks, cant wait to try it but I have to wait until I get home from this business trip.
  21. I doubt Cat meant it that way! We can wait as long as it takes!
  22. Going to be one hell of a mod thanks for the hard work!
