Theres a lot of tricks you need to read up on to get the multi monitor results your looking for. I run one display at the moment so I can't help you there but searching these forums will get you the info you need. As for keyboard/joystick hacks they are easy for the most part (IF you're using an existing game controller). You just gotta solder some wires into the existing buttons then to some switches or buttons. The trick is having the right switches and buttons for your controller. Most game controllers use always open momentary buttons so you need to use momentary switches in those projects. There are some rules you have to follow for any hack project but for the most part it is pretty easy. I pulled my projects off with pretty much no experience whatsoever other than knowing what a soldering iron does! Feel free to ask any questions you have there are a ton of knowledgeable members here!

I've played almost exclusively online. Its more fun with real people when simming IMO. Its also invaluable to play along side guys who have already been there done that when learning all the systems in the Shark. I'd be screwed if I didn't have someone to tell me to turn off my Nav target so I can receive a data link or tell me my gears still down 50nm away from base!

How do you fly with keyboard?
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Kuro6's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It can be done but I don't know how well it would resemble actual flying............ -
Motion sickness, sort of.

Play Guitar Hero on a big screen (60" or bigger) and that gives a pretty trippy effect. I believe playing certain racing games will do this too if you use the inside car view. -

The only solution is to play with people you know to avoid cheating and sometimes not even then! To each there own I was just throwing out ideas..... -
We had one of these Unknown guys last night in a server with us and he had some sort of missile no one had seen before and was launching 6-8 at a time it seemed. I think someone got some video or screenshots of it.

The Black Shark Guide to Marital Dischord
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to wickedpenguin's topic in Chit-Chat
Oh jeez I will say that I'm smart enough to know when to stop playing when I hear these words "honey have you seen my clothes"! But I'm pretty good at deflecting negativity about my simming hobby. Its a good enough reason to print out the manual for this exactly. Show here the 300+ page manual and say "see how fun my GAME is". Works pretty well. -
Great reason to build a two seat pit! But then theres the problem of sharing the trackir with your co-pilot! Look left, no right, its my turn to use it!

LOL not if you play with people who are into simpits like I do! You should fly with Cat101 and our friends, we could accommodate you and your toys! Cat101 and myself are west-siders though so you need to wear blue and be cool with pacific standard time!:pilotfly: -
Autohover problem - Intermittent!
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to spudmonkey's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Is there any chance that you get close to the ground before this happens? Like 2-4 meters? If you get to close the AP systems go offline automatically and you have to turn them back on. You also need to be properly trimmed when engaging AH mode. So when you slow down to enter the hover trim off at level flight with very little or no movement. I've found that you can engage the AH mode between 0-8mph/kph and the system will be able to take control. But I'm still new at this like you so hopefully the more experienced will answer! -
Well I know for one thing that the Apache module is supposed to have back seat ops at least in multiplayer. Thats a good point because if you can't rely on AI wingman how are you going to trust your AI pilot or weapons officer. Hmmmmmmm........

So did that profile fit what you're looking for? Total may have a better one as mine is set up for how I like things. Not to mention I have a small panel and a few other joystick devices I can program commands to! -

Are the modules going to share the same exe?
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to th3flyboy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The plan is for them to all work together regardless if you have all the modules as far as I know. Given when you launch the menu it doesn't start the game rather just the GUI its not that big a deal. I can only envision that if you had all the modules and you were playing on a server with said modules that you would be able to switch between a/c without having to switch modules. TBH, who knows how DCS will do it, but one thing for sure is that it will probably make sense. -

I thought were talking about instrument displays and not about panel building........ I can't figure out how I ever played any sim with the HOTAS on a desk though lol. Once you go simpit you never go back. Yeah for desk simmers these are great but still overpriced IMHO! -

Seperate Throttle - Recommendations?
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to spudmonkey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Heres what I think you should try see my thread here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40759 This way you'll not only get dual throttles you'll also end up with a collective. Its an easy project and you don't have to take the stick apart at all (I did because I wanted to keep the spring and spacer). After you buy the stick its only a few more bucks in parts that can be easily had at any hardware store! Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in as I'd be happy to answer any questions and help! -

Thats really interesting now with the SDK but honestly you could pick up an old flat panel monitor cut some holes in a pc. of plywood and bam, have an panel with most you instruments displayed for less than there selling this for. All you would need is a drill, hole saw set, plywood and a monitor........ -
You know I've never taken any in action pics or video of my setup, I'll do that and update my thread. My 96" screen is from a projector output, I have a set up that uses a first surface mirror to get a nice sized image. I'll try and take some video today if theres time!

Rookie Helo Driver Needs Help with Auto Pilot
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Golgotha's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Well not to sound simplistic but get used to Trimming and how trimming works. Basically while flying your constantly trimming the helo but its very different from trimming an airplane. I'm a noob as well so I don't want to get ahead of myself giving hints when I really don't have a clue. -
th2go and projector config ideas
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm curious to hear what some have to say. I already play on a proj. and have a couple monitors on the side. Wouldnt mind setting one up to see what happens but I can get only 1024x768 resolution max because of monitor/proj. limitations. -
