  1. It is very unreasonable that it doesn't work that way. Because ABRIS and INU have a way of talking to each other - Datalink points are saved/displayed to ABRIS through the INU, and Shkval target is displayed on the ABRIS if I understand it correctly (Because only the INU knows directly where you're pointing the Shkval, right?). So to not have it send GPS coords every X seconds is weird. Maybe ABRIS is read-only?
  2. Thanks for the videos. I'll save a track when I encounter something that feels off. I just think that if a mission implements a fix point, it should tell you what it is. The problem I've noticed is that without precise alignment, The INU drifts fast after doing a fix anyway, so it's not really worth doing it manually. This software is pretty nice. What are you actually doing in the second video? BTW, the ABRIS has your coordinates from GPS, right? So can you just do a fly-over fix on yourself from ABRIS coords?
  3. Will you release it as a mod? Looks like an improvement. I agree that this screen just doesn't play well with newer graphics. The Ka-50 screen is so much better, I can see all I need to see. Although it has weird shadow glitches sometimes...
  4. That's good to know! It's sad how the game has very little regard for Single Player content. Seems like all the campaign makers are just a guy with the mission editor (no offense), and after a year AI and triggers are broken. Most campaigns I've played have serious issues, be it bugs or just general quality.
  5. Yeah I was wrong about that, lol. The Su-25 Shkval does look like absolute ass though. I was basing it on some older video I saw on YT - I was checking how the un-bugged Mercury works. It used to be like FLIR, where vehicles stood out as bright white. Not anymore, now it's actually just a LLTV like it's supposed to. Not that great, but realistic.
  6. For real, this experience makes me want to never touch the F-5 again. I lost two likely kills in a row because I just exploded mid-air like an a**hole. I will either only fly the Mig-21 in MP, or just buy the F-4. Even in SP campaign, the Mig performance makes me want to give up sometimes.
  7. I'll try to fly a mission some time soon. But it has worked the same way as Republic for me - target points and datalink points are useless. The briefing lacks info about designated fix points. The INU drifts a lot anyway because full alignment wasn't done.
  8. Would I like hi-fi tanks? Sure. Would I pay $60 for each? Maybe, but I doubt it. Most of all, I would like to get more realistic AI and damage models for ground units, so let's just start with that. I'm afraid the hi-fi ground units would not sell well, and detract from other development, which is needed. The DCS engine is not really built for this, the ground units are extremely rudimentary. It would be a huge jump to go straight to hi-fi realism. I'm not sure if tanks are a good fit here, as they are inherently multicrew and have quite strict division of roles... Would you be happy being just the driver? Or just the gunner? Or just the commander? I don't think the ground war is nowhere deep enough to make this rewarding. With the focus of DCS on flight, I think tank players would have their day ruined by being killed by airplanes out of nowhere. The balancing works better in more casual games like WT, where player bases are large, and you can quickly respawn after death for instant action. If I drove the DCS tank for miles just to be blown up be a Maverick, I'd probably rage quit after a few attempts. I don't think the player base willing to pay for this is there. The idea of a combined arms realistic battleground is really awesome though! But I think smaller steps towards this are a better choice.
  9. I've played the Pandemic a few months ago, and all the target points were wayyy off when slewed to... This might have changed since.
  10. Because the targets will just blow up from any damage, I recommend not taking any bombs. It will make you way faster and you will survive easier. Take 2 large pods of rockets and shoot at 15 mils of depression. I did this mission on 2nd try.
  11. These early SAMs are completely useless against low targets. They will not even lock you if you fly low, and there's no AAA, so these missions are actually really easy if you don't crash.
  12. I don't think that's it. I've also experienced this, and I think the enemies just don't spawn in this mission. They don't appear as objects in the debrief score card, and this mission passes without doing anything. I've look for them quite well, and asked AWACS - it was clear.
  13. After the recent fix, the Mercury is actually really really useful in the game. The SU-25 Shkval has such poor contrast, I can barely make out the targets against the background. In the Ka-50, the screen looks completely different, and it's way easier to spot targets. Are these supposed to be exactly the same? They are definitely not... Contrast and brightness settings would go a long way! This is to the point that I'm considering just mounting the Mercury for day operations to be able to spot stuff without cheating with the labels.
  14. Same happened to me. Overall, I had to skip multiple missions because of failed triggers. I did not enjoy this campaign very much.
  15. Thanks for the campaign, I was having fun. I do however have some feedback/questions about frustrating parts I've encountered. My main gripe is the uselessness of wingman AI. In particular, they just cannot do air-to-ground, at all. I don't think they killed a single enemy ground unit in any CAS missions. They either immediately get killed or suppressed by air defenses, or in many cases just refuse to accept my commands to attack any ground target, replying "unable". This felt frustrating and unrealistic, as I had to do all of the work myself. Not sure if this is more of a core DCS AI issue, or a campaign scripting issue. On the topic of CAS, the air defenses of many missions seem to make the task almost impossible with the capabilities of the F-5. MANPADs have just insane spotting, tracking, and fire rate. They do not get suppressed by nearby explosions, etc. The only way I was able to do the attacks with multiple manpads is by cheating with spotting dots, and guessing which ones are manpads. Then you can win if you take them all out in a single rocket strike from high altitude. But playing "realistically", not knowing the target location exactly, and only reacting to their launches to spot the tiny people, this feels literally impossible. They will launch with a head-on attack very fast, even if you terrain-mask, and quickly follow up with a rear aspect shot. Only by blowing all flares and masking perfectly do you have any chance of surviving. And then you're out of flares for the future. I can handle all the AAA, but I feel like there are too many manpads given their strength. How do people counter them? Are your wingmen doing anything? The default loadout for these missions, which includes 5 snakeyes, often feels useless, as I almost always got killed with any low pass if manpads are present. The bombs just make you super slow. They cannot be fused to nose only to make them slick. I swap them for normal bombs for a high-alt attack, or just jettison them, as the F-5 with this loadout is barely flyable. The difficulty of some CAP missions is also very high due to poor wingman performance. In encounters with 4+ Mig-21s, the wingmen just die without doing much. I frequently lost after killing 2 Migs myself, only to learn all my wingmen are also already down without any kills. This is my skill issue for sure, but it feels like the wingmen are just useless, which is frustrating. I can accept that I suck, but the wingmen should be doing at least an adequate job to make the mission feel realistic... Some missions have very inflexible win conditions. E.G. the intercept of 6 Mig-23s at night - I killed 5 and one escaped. The mission score is 50 with a draw, same as doing nothing. Seems a bit unreasonable. I understand that a lot of the above are core DCS limitations, but I also think that the campaigns should be designed with this in mind.
  16. I've noticed this issue is especially bad for me in Multiplayer. I've only ripped off my wings in SP once. But I've tried flying on the cold war server yesterday, and ripped my wings two times in a row with medium-intensity maneuvering, definitely something I've done safely before. Could it be because there is only Aim-9B, not Aim-9P, available on ECW now, and the issue is caused be wingtip loading somehow?
  17. This sounds rough, as even the stabilized pod is not that good compared to Western sensors. Since it's a low-fidelity model anyway, it's fine to leave it as-is I think...
  18. In this track, the whole comms system broke for me, and everyone stopped responding, including ATC, wingmen, ground crew. radio.trk
  19. In this mission, you're supposed to intercept some bombers over the sea. The radio call places them 15 nm off the shore when you're near the shore, so they should be almost within visual range. However, they are nowhere to be found. No bombers are present in mission debrief, and the mission passes with score 100 without doing anything. fail.trk
  20. The model rendered in the side and top mirrors of the Su-25 is missing huge patches of textures, and you can see into the plane. This is both in the side and top mirrors. Additionally, the position of the side mirrors is very bad - you only see the engine basically, and if you lean just a little, you will see the missing textures. On the Su-25 T, the mirrors are aligned much better and are useful, but if you lean enough, you also see missing textures, although it's not nearly as bad as the Su-25.
  21. I've played with it more, and I'm sure it actually has the same issue. Reminder: Su-25 only has a TDC with laser-guided weapons.
  22. Could you also check the Su-25 (non-T)? I thought that the TDC also behaved in a weird way (when Kh-29L is aimed). However, I'm not sure how that TDC should actually behave, so I don't know if it's correct as is or bugged.
  23. Same version, I turned off clickable cockpit, and selected the Russian cockpit - same outcome. Given your test, it might be some weird mod interaction. I'll try to clean up my client and implement mods with a mod manager.
  24. Yes, this works. I was trying to do this, but with two different commands!
