Many aircraft that use garmin equipment have two seperate units mounted within the cockpit. Now that the NS430 sits on the center console and is best viewed by the commander, the space on the copilot's panel is free. I actually preferred the NS430 on the copilot's panel as is made flying while keeping an eye on whatever information you need from the NS430 easier. Why not mount two units in the MI8's cockpit? There is plenty of use for it in my opinion!

Is anything further going to be done with this module?
bertOC replied to the_soupdragon's topic in DCS: NS 430
Seems like there is something going on with this new patch. I cannot get the NS430 to show on the Copilot's panel in the MI8 now, though i can get the 2D popup (LALT LSHIFT B) in many other modules besides the Mi8 and L39. I also dont remember seeing this many options within the special options page. -
Oh, very good news! I am leeching for some proper Mistral action, but without RWR.. meh, i feel like a helpless huey again!
-
Had two crashes to desktop within 10 minutes flying on the Blueflag server. This is definitely related to the RWR somehow, as my buddy was flying a Mistral aswell, only difference was him leaving the RWR off. The second crash happened immideately after takeoff and a short climb, just as the RWR symbols popped up the game stopped. This has been going on for a while and makes me rather not flying a Gazelle, which I otherwise enjoyed very much. Can we expect a fix to this really gamebreaking bug soon? crashdumps.rar
-
Yeah, i have it on everytime i fly, without it there would be little to no use for the Gazelle though i'd say. I mainly fly on Blueflag, and the single best thing about the Gazelle is the RWR. Hoping for a quick fix.

2 game crashes within 15 minutes with the Gazelle Mistral on the 104th server, crashdumps here. crashes.rar

This day one problem still persists at least for me, any hope?

Static Zu23 emplacements are still bugged and invisible in multiplayer. Please swap them for Zu23 on a truck, that unit is not bugged. It really is annoying not to be able to kill the main defenses on objectives in Caucasus.
-
Getting really tired by the invisible units at some of the ground targets on the Anapa vs. Novorossiysk. The static ZU-23 emplacement seems to be bugged right now, i'd recommend changing it to a ZU-23 Truck, which seems to work.

Back up and working, put out the torches guys.

Starting up 1.5 i get a popup labeled Authorization cancelled saying: The following DLCs are not authorized and will be disabled: AV-8B N/A. Better fix this quick..

Some guys reading should get a sharp pain up the tailpipe and wake up late at night remembering the time they got shredded to confetti by a KH66!

So, the weekend has come and everyone can use some distraction to get through the last week of Harrier anticipation i'd guess! I'd love to see OC without A-A missiles for the weekend, the only problematic module would be the Mistral I guess. It wouldn't make too much of a difference I'd guess to still have missiles on there. Other than that I'm looking forward to see a jet furball in the spite of Burning Skies already!

New Flight engineer view when sling loading
bertOC replied to BaD CrC's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I also got no clue when it got added, but I've been using it for a while now, like a few months. It's not a brand new feature. -
Just go 2-3 pages back to see that discussion.

Are you talking about JTAC? Would love to have those aswell sometimes. Maybe one thing to add for a helo to carry in the future.

People tend to forget there is more stuff on OC than a fighter area. With that logic we would never need any ground units, as scenarios are obsolete. But hey, there are good ground objectives inside the conflict zone to attack, pilots to rescue and cargo to deliver. All of that ten times more fun to me than flying a fighter. This gets freaking impossible to do though, at least for one side on a normal server rotation. Most people tend to fly the 4th gen fighters on OC lately, further people doing strikes or transport than I'd like to see. Mirknir put a great deal of work into making this server an environment for every plane. I hate to see the conflict zone's objectives mostly unattacked, or like 15 downed pilots on the map, while everything going on overhead is funky missile physics, complete lack of ROE or complete lack of any actual tactics. It just breaks the immersion for me.

I agree with you in terms of the Mirage, either turning off fast align or reducing fuel wouldn't hurt. With FC3 though there is no such option to provide a fuel tank at the initial spawn, so we gotta take what we can get. Refueling time after finishing a sortie one way or the other should be roughly the same to incentivize people to play safe and get back to base.
-
Very wrong, if you're getting bored by having to fuel up all the time, chances are that you're dying more often than returning your airframe to an airport and fuel up that way. There should be no benefit leaving your airframe to go and get a new plane. While missile physics, RWR and many other aspects of modern air combat (ROE) are not operating really realistic within DCS, or people dont give a shit, (ROE, shooting of Medics, etc) at least dying should have a negative impact on your experience. I have experienced fighters carefully picking their targets and running away when necessary, scoring a good amount of kills with close to no deaths. The type of player you'll see fueling up anywhere else that the spawning airfield. I've never seen one of them complain about refueling on startup. The ones complaining usually got a good number of kills but also a good number of deaths. By carelessly losing your airframe you should not get a new plane ready to go on your hands while the first type of player I described is "wasting" time for RTB, Landing or Taxiing. I'd rather have a server where people would think a bit more before firing missiles at enemy contacts, but the only popular rule seems to be "if it flies it dies". Getting kills is easy, proper CAP and staying alive is a challenge not many people seem to like.

Rooting for low contrails then, was always fun having those start at very low altitudes. I'd also like to see how a weekend without FC3 will go. If you really wanna spice things up, give us a timeframe with some night time action aswell!

Missed the discussion alltogether, but seeing as my point got lost after the first response i can only put it here again. No more fighters until we got a bigger arena please.
-
Go ahead and just remove everything thats not 4th gen fighter from the airfields then, I still can't understand how everyone only comes to Open Conflict only wanting to shoot people down. If anything, less Mirage slots please, when i was online last time there were 12 people in Mirages, everyone probably with fast align turned on, just throwing airframes and missiles around. The more airquake the less realism, I liked Open Conflict better with a wider range of airframes around, while the majority right now plays the game like this: 1. Autostart 2. Takeoff full burn to the fight 3. Find closest radar contact 4. Fire everything 5. Die Its not even about fastness, F5s and MIG21 slots are mostly empty. I even fel like the Mirage is the most popular plane right now because it's startig with full fuel and fast align enabeled. How about turning fast align off?

Flying on blueflag nevada yesterday me and a buddy noticed the DTK and BRG readouts on the NAVdef page are way off, showing a completely wrong number. We couldn't quite figure out how the miscalculation happens because for the same flight plan we were showing different headings, both of them wrong. Flying on 1.5 it worked as intended, havent tried single player 2.1 yet.
-
Seeing as about 70-80% of the players at all times are already in 4th gen fighters I see no need to add more slots, otherwise the current setup with a respectively small conflict zone would just be overrun by fighters at any times. One thing OC doesn't need at the moment is more fighters or more slots. A bigger arena is needed.
