How to refuel with autopilot: I think this is a good way to start practicing(for a newbie): BALT ON(1 axis freedom), BALT OFF(2 axis), BALT and ATC OFF(3 axis). I didn't know about this until now and more or less always messed up along 1 axis, last time I was quite stable but as I like to automate stuff(=I'm lazy) I will use it.

It's fun but I find it very hard to hit a targets with normal bombs(you need to be very precise to kill a T72) but yes you are right at least it is possible :). SE is better but usually you carpet bomb with it so one/two runs and it's gone. Rocket(the big ones) on the other hand are quite easy to use and effective. I'm talking about MP servers(and CBUs are not allowed usually) not just practice so you don't have too much time to mess around :) But this is a rookie bomber's perspective I didn't touch the A-10 for 2 years :)

It's fine

Update: It needs to be/will be fixed, check the videos. Boresight lock. Vertical lock at 4:27 almost instant.

No. No IFF, RWR is half-done, no spamram, no pod, no laser guided weapons, no SEAD etc. It is not combat ready. It can dogfight(but not the best). I have only one kill(AIM-9) but that was lucky(radar is almost unusable, drops lock etc.). Dumb bombs are hard to use and not fun, rockets are quite usable but still hard. Dumb bombs could be good against buildings but in DCS "we don't that here". This is more or less an F-16 and the M2K is almost an F-16 what it really needs to be special is the POD and the spamram(and of course the basic stuff to work properly) otherwise pick the Mirage. I like the non-combat part, A2A refuel, carrier landing etc. Of course I mean don't buy it yet ;).

If the RWR is in offset mode the RWR display under the right DDI is "limitless" it will display contact everywhere in plane. For example the enemy awacs indication is floating in the air outside of the cockpit(right side, if it is on the left side it will be covered by the cockpit so it is not visible). I tried to reproduce on a simple mission but failed, I've attached the one where I managed to do it. Select the hornet and right after takeoff play with the EW on/off, offset buttons and E2 should pop up in the air. The_Battle_For_Georgia_.zip

A BUG/WIP list so we know what's been reported

[NOT IMPLEMENTED YET] If the RWR is in offset mode the RWR display under the right DDI is "limitless" it will display contact everywhere in plane. You should be able to bind mouse buttons, scroll wheel to keyboard/HOTAS, I use it in VR.

+1 This is really needed and I think for every plane where it is suitable. Right now I have to punch in the coordinates manually before every mission(this is especially annoying on servers like blue flag where there are not even a default waypoint except 0 = home airfield). The mission editor could be used to plan everything(loadout, waypoints, frequencies etc.) then click on the plane export data cartridge, profit. Implementation should be easy (as it is already done when you edit/fly a mission), only import export needs to be done, it could be a ground crew comm menu item: load data cartridge then a file browser pops up(similar window as the loadout) and win.

I'm using the CH products HOTAS with 20 on curves I can fly with the tanker but I can't keep the speed with it(the throttle path is very short, I guess it is relatively easy in the real hornet). Are there any tricks for it? (in game or in the CH control manager?) Update: Maybe it's a silly idea but I'll try with some air brakes on when I get home.
-
Probably I'm wrong but isn't it an "analog multi-stage" ab? so when you reduce the throttle first the nozzle position is changing. But maybe I remember it like this because the delay you mention.
-
I can confirm you will lose lock past 90 degrees I think. Right now I think the hornet is not usable in AA mode in BVR and without IFF(not even AWACS declare) in dogfighting it is too risky(I rather not shoot than shoot an ally). But still awesome we got it, we can learn other stuff until AA got fixed.

For me it is unplayable unfortunately, I'm at or below 45 fps(minimum settings). Single player tutorials are ok-ish but in combat/heavy singleplayer or normal multiplayer missions it will be really unplayable. But my rig is getting old GTX970+CV1 so...

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
chinpok replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Just look at the image you linked.. this is not balance. I'm not a good pilot but I'm ok, I had some 1v3 with the mirage(3 kill out of 4 missiles is quite ok I think, of course luck was involved), couple of 1v2 kill both or only one kill and run etc. so I don't cry because I don't score. But usually that was just some distraction as they had 5 CAP backup and I wasn't able to get close to the attacking planes/clean the area so we can attack. We need a minimum amount of people organized to take objectives but still if the enemy is organized as well we have no chance due to the 1:3+ ratio. Usually the big turnovers are done by a couple of people during daytime ~5vs0(both red and blue) so I think we need more and better AI to compensate, but this is just an idea. Maybe don't open the server 24/7? Put events for different timezones with separate "saves" etc. Power of community? Put up the scripts on github so everyone can contibute/fork? There are solution for everything. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Democracy is not working here this is war, everything should be forced: team balance, SRS, etc. Gameplay should be first: all planes on both sides, I remember ~8 month ago everyone was crying they don't want red mirage as it is "unrealistic"... now we have them on both sides which is good, at least some progress in that area. And we should have some command chain, flights or something, operations should look like in BMS or Wargame, but GCIs now are just calling enemy positions - not even a command to engage, defend, patrol this area, escort Bobby etc. I would be happy to patrol an area without shooting or anything if it is useful. If I want call of duty I got on the 104th server. How to solve this? Don't know open a topic somewhere and discuss/solve it, scripts? guides? etc. It feels like Blueflag is doing circles instead of progress. This feels bad as Blueflag is the closest thing to get the BMS/"real battlefield experience". And for the forum topic: as I mentioned before we should use the buddy forum this is one big flow of everything. P.s.: I'm on red side so I don't know what's up on blue but I guess it is not too fun to fight again 3 unorganized planes spread over the map + one "cheater". I didn't give up yet but I'm getting tired too. I know the devs have life and don't have too much time but there are some major gameplay problems needs to be solved first before adding the fancy stuff. -

Su-33 can use ET and ER, I guess it is not intentional. -

The problem is if I want the latest info about the server I have to read back 50 posts as it is a one big flow of unorganized posts. -

Why don't you use your own forums buddyspike team? Here you have like two topics filled with unorganized stuff vs your own. I'm asking because it looks like you check these more frequently. Best would be to redirect people there in my opinion or ask for a sub-forum here if possible(and close the other one). Might sound offensive but I don't want to be :) "sorry for my english" -
Actually I just found that out when I was looking the startup video(never turned it on before but the HUD always worked, maybe new patch?) anyhow it is still not working or how long should I wait before takeoff? as one of the best advantages of the mig is the quick ramp-to-air time I usually don't wait too long(radar is still warming up ~2+ mins after takeoff).
-
Ok then it must be something else, thanks for your help guys.
-
Sorry for the delay. So I did some testing, in multiplayer, single player and watched a startup guide just to be sure but I have like ~50+ hours with the mig so I know how to start it. I tried the knobs to increase brightness of the "cross" and fixed. Verdict nothing helps if I ramp start but in single player if I start from the air the HUD is working. @Jethro11 Did you ramp start? No mods installed now, default cockpit. Off topic BUT must have for oculus users(I had washed out colors since I have it and now it is like CV1.5 :D):
-
Thanks for the replies, I didn't try it since but I realized I use a custom pit(grey) which was working fine so far but maybe there is the problem. I will try it today when I get home. I'm using 1.5.

I was trying to use mirage(flying low) to take out SAMs and then get away but AAA killed me easily. I'm not sure if it is possible to use a mirage for this task, maybe with tossing. However it would be nice to see some strategic targets +1 for the ammo thing as we only have fuel now(right?). Other somewhat off topic question: Can the su-25t buddy lase for the mirage? Or helos with "laser troops"?. However I think balance is the worst issue but no one cares about it, blues have some "workless"/non-EU timezone guys playing 8vs0 all day.

Yes, not my first flight with the Mig.
