Who said it will be out before May?

Ubisoft exchanged the old Starforce DVD-check protection for something worse: A constant internet connection. The current version of StarForce-Protection, however, has nothing in common with the old buggy drivers that cause so much trouble. Nothing except the name and the company :D Modern Starforce does no longer install drivers, no more complex DVD checks or checks for virtual drives or something. You install, activate the game with a short internet connection, then you're free to play.

Anyone else building both the KA-50 and A-10?
Feuerfalke replied to pitbldr's topic in Home Cockpits
:D True, if you want to build a realistic cockpit for each release, you'll spend more time building the next few years than actually flying one of the planes ;) But at least we've found the one person who welcomes that the 9 months between the releases were too optimistic :P -

DU ammunition (split from 30mm AP thread)
Feuerfalke replied to sobek's topic in Military and Aviation
:megalol: THAT is a global problem. :D -

DU ammunition (split from 30mm AP thread)
Feuerfalke replied to sobek's topic in Military and Aviation
The problem with DU-Ammo does not come from radiation or 'general toxicity', but from the fact that DU is extremely hard and as such tends to pulverize rather than deforms like tungsten shells, for example. This partially pulverization on impact causes very small particles that inhaled get into the smallest alveolus. From here it can easily enter the bloodstream and the sharp form causes lungcancer just the same way as asbestos does. Additionally the fine particles can produce cellular and mutations when ingested. -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Feuerfalke replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry, if you want to rant, feel free to do so. Thought we were discussing facts. What was improved in the hardware of the X52pro since it was released? -
Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Feuerfalke replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Curious. I always thought that people make joysticks? A Joystick is not a car or piece of software, that you can upgrade or improve with minor changes over it's lifetime circle. Especially not, if you have to design and release other hardware as well. Not even mentioning the difficulties Thrustmaster probably has seen with Guillemot. -
ShadowVonChadwick, I doubt he was flying the A-10. At least I'm not able to fire aimed 5-10 shots in 8 bursts in an A-10A. With realigning and aiming to fire them at the same distance and direction. At least it would take me a lot longer than just 16 seconds+. Besides that, he posted in the DCS-forum, not in the LockOn-part.

Apparently so. IFVs and APCs like the BRDM and BMP are much lighter than MBTs due to much weaker armor and smaller weapons. As a very basic rule, IFVs and APCs are designed to transport troops into battle quickly and provide cover against other light tanks, infantry and choppers. They rather rely on speed and agility than on armor. An MBT is much heavier because of their weapons and armor. Their armor again is what they have to rely on in battle. In theory you could still damage the engine or tracks with 30mm ammo, but these complex damage-effects are not modeled in this simulation. You can still kill a tank with your cannon. You just have to get really close and fire a lot of rounds.

No worries. It would be cool to have more flyable planes ;)

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Feuerfalke replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, that again is a question of how you look at other people. I rather expect them to learn from their errors than thinking they made it wrong before, so they will fail again. Besides that, it's 9 years since the Cougar was released. Many things have changed in the meanwhile. -
I'm sorry, I read this as the HDD stopped working. Out of personal interest: Is there any reason why you run your monitor on 1600x900 instead of 1600x1080 which would be the native resolution for your monitor? Other than what EtherealN posted (there are a couple of free virus-scanner avaiblable - I prefer the AVG-scanner btw) I can only recommend to check the running services and tasks. You use Win7 Ultimate, which loads a lot of backup- and network-tools that work in the background, though you will never use it. Besides that, you could check what processes are running in the background. Simply use the taskmanager or download hijackthis or process-explorer for detailed listings.

Considering the bad reviews and reports about especially that moving part centering e.g. like on the x52, I doubt they will use a similar system. I rather expect they will use a single spring of some sort. You don't risk center play, uneven friction and loose gimbals, while wear-down and size of the base can be quite low compared to conventional methods. You can also easily adjust centering-strength in such a system. Well, hopefully we'll find out, soon ;) -
If it runs perfectly if you just use the mouse, I doubt it's your processor. It rather sounds like your keyboard is either connected to the wrong port (e.g. PS2 port for mouse instead of PS2 port for keyboard) or it's simply causing a crash because of some broken wiring. I had a similar problem with my PC several years ago - it turned out my keyboard-connector was broken and depending on what key I pressed the mainboard locked up and crashed. Maybe something similar is happening here? Does your PC run perfectly normal if you don't use the keyboard?

Correct. Infact some helos are working so close to the limits that they even need the additional lift from rolling take-offs. IIRC the Hind fully loaded uses rolling take-offs, for example. (Which also means that a fully loaded Hind isn't designed to hover behind cover)

You mean undocumented in terms of hidden functions? It's in the pilots controls, mapable in the axis-panel and rshift-p is in the key-list. @xracer: You can move your head to the sides a bit. Buttons and axis are mapable and listed in the keylist. There is no way to move your head in front of the stick or disable the stick being rendered.

 Sorry, but this is getting boring. Yes, it's not in. Yes, it would be great if it would. Anybody disagrees? No? Nice, so we got 170+ posts summed up in one line and we can move along.

The GTX470 and 480 are a lot faster than the 280 and the 285. Benchmark But the question is, if it's worth the money. In LockOn/FC2/DCS you probably won't even notice the difference.

ROFLOL  Sorry, had to imagine that quote coming from a helo-pilot in Afghanistan or Iraq whining that he's not able to hide behind trees and therefore wants to retire. :megalol:
