Thrustmaster Warthog Preview CheckSix + Video!
Feuerfalke replied to Nightmare's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Very interesting first preview. Thanks for sharing. -
@topol-m: Mount Fujiyama? This is still on the top 5 of my "wanna see for real"-list. ;)

A classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8auGAJrnpY4

I don't. Airbags are explosives. IMHO they are lucky they didn't kill him. And actually the video doesn't say they didn't in the end.

Well, Hog Driver, I doubt anybody would deny a good hint or good resource, but as so often, it's the tone that makes the music. You must admit, that the name "Hog Driver" together with your statements must have raised the idea that you indeed are a hog-driver. And considering how aggressively you reacted when Steve asked if you are, I got the same impression he did: That this image you created was actually intended. If you have detailed information about the Hog, anybody here welcomes your initiative to share it. But there is no need to deceive or attack somebody else, when doing so.

Much the same here. I modded and repaired the Cougar a dozen times, the airbrakes-switch, the springs in the stick, the center play, etc. Even the small plastic ring holding the throttle-grip in place broke, so you can slide it left and right to the point that it unplugs from the poti. Of course after fixing the spiking really gave me the rest. Yes, I have a cougar and invested more money in it, than just the original price. And, yes, I'm gonna buy the Warthog most likely, just because I think that it eliminates all the weak points from the Cougar that led to it's new role in my home: Gather dust.
-
So, your problem is not the stick, the software, the separate devices, but the fact that you WANT your rudder-pedals to be used with the old/new software. Why didn't you just ask? Why make such a fuzz all about it? Use the Cougar-base and parts for an input panel and plug the rudders in. Probably gonna do the same to my Cougar - well, except that I have USB-rudders. ;)
-
Why would you want to plug in your USB-rudders in you Stick or throttle? To be able to configure it with your software? Welcome to the 21st century - you no longer need to have just one connection in order to configure it with one software. ;)

Indeed, you are right on the 101 and 102 patch. I installed both patches and didn't have any problems, hence my personal conclusion.
-
You downloaded and installed THE patch? Which one? There are two patches available for BS: 101 and 102. You need both patches. Correction: You only need 102-Patch, as Speed stated. If you have an incompatibility with FC as well, maybe there's a hardware problem. Can you post what computer and which components you use? Graphics card + Driver version, CPU, RAM, Windows-Version are the most critical components that may cause an error in one way or the other.
-
That depends on the resolution. Full HD = 1920x1080. I bet your four monitors have a higher resolution all together.

I prefer the Saitek pedals because the footrests are further apart. If you're in the business, you could also find out, when Saiteks new rudder pedals are going to be released:

Wait for the TM Warthog. It has a small base attached to a metal plate. If you use it on your desk, the metal plate will probably be the best choice. If you plan to build a cockpit or at least a seat with center stick, you can remove the plate and attach the smaller case to the seat as in this picture:

Actually it's rather because the executable program is almost identical. One is optimized for 64bit, one for 32bit. The primary contents of the code are the same and all other files remain the same, too (except for some dlls). You don't need to install two complete programs to have both, a 32bit and a 64bit version of a software. Just look at Crysis. The only difference is the base-executable.
-
No, they can't. 32bit exe's are limited to 2GB, even if you have 128GB RAM installed. There are of course a few exceptions to the rule like FSX, which benefits from the 3GB-switch or more memory installed on a 64bit system. But overall, most games are limited to 2GB, no matter what OS they are running on. Of course they do! ...if they are 64bit! ;) I ran a few tests with BS myself. There is zero difference in performance and loading time for the 32bit application, no matter if you have 4 or 8 GB installed, though the game itself states that it uses more memory when running in a 64bit environment. The program simply doesn't use it and as such doesn't benefit from it. You need a 64bit exe to e.g. decrease loading times and optimize memory usage.

If there are issues at all, they are mainly created due to lacking drivers or really old hardware. You can check that easily, e.g. if you have an old input device, scanner or printer. If 64bit drivers do exist, you won't know a difference between 64bit and 32bit. Sadly that's true in both ways: Only a few programs benefit from 64bit. :(
