  1. +1 This is only for the next two weeks.
  2. Its interesting to see the tech stuff behind the models, thanks for this. Nice to see the 190D getting the MW50 :)
  3. A US or UK special forces campaign with the Mi8 would be quite fun.
  4. Taking the risk of sounding nerdy ;) I like the look of the forrests in the Alabama scenery. Many sims have forests that look very regular, too many of the trees look the same. ED (or whoever) seem to have taken time to place different trees making the forests look very natural. It reminds me of the very best FSX payware scenery but with much more advanced lighting than FSX can manage. Now we just need some improved weather effects.
  5. Yes, I think with $100k getting closer I'm hoping Luthier has some further plans up has sleeve to motivate the community. Something at $150k and $200k would be helpful. KS projects ca pick up a lot of funding in the last week if the dev's have a surprise or two to motivate the waverers.
  6. Extra planes between the $100k and $375 level would make me contemplate upping my $110 pledge. I'm not really interested in alpha access. I want to play with stuff that works and I wont have time for detailed testing so I wont be productive.
  7. Yes I think pedals really help. Someone also posted some heli flying tips from a real world instructor. Its a tribute to Belsimteks flight modelling that the tips also translate well into the sim. The main things were if you're trying to hover then don't move the collective as that'll result in you having to change the pedal position which makes things hard. Basically if you don't change the collective position the heli will settle to a constant altitude and will stay pointed with a constant pedal position. All you have to worry about id the cyclic. Also when hovering make sure you return your stick to centre if you make an attitude correction. Move stick slightly, centre, move centre move centre. That way you don't end up over controlling and chasing the heli. From pilots reports I still feel the Huey is too unstable in the sim and the vortex ring drop and translational lift shaking effects are too great. Pilots talk about stability, the Huey doesn't feel that way in the sim. I still feel Belsimtak has a great heli flight model though.
  8. I think subtitles are preferable to poor spoken English leading to misunderstandings.
  9. It would have been good to have something at the obvious stages between $100k and the $375k. Something to aim for. Maybe that's just not possible, I have no idea of the funding required for these projects.
  10. I just linked to it, I can't take any credit :)
  11. Great stuff. Decent reception as well it seems :) https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/50165/dcs-wwii-europe-1944
  12. Yeah but it is on site at Duxford. It appears to be owned by a charitable trust, maybe they'd be interested in getting involved with DCS WW2? Open to a few ££££ as persuasion? The Fighter collection do own a two seat P51 and Sea Fury though....
  13. Really $60K in the first week isn't bad. A bit of TLC and this could still takeoff. The ride in the B17 sounds like a great talking point. I wonder if that's doable?
  14. Starting an off topic thread at the RSI Star Citizen boards is a good idea. Anyone post there already so it'll look less like spamming?
  15. They needed to be ready to post new stuff each day. 30 updates, pictures, videos, blogs.
  16. Well something needs to happen because DCS 44 has really hit the buffers in the last two days… I don't want to be overly pessimistic but less an $5k per day isn't good.
  17. No Tempest? Voted for the Spitfire. It's a hard choice though, I just want them all :)
  18. Excellent ideas.
  19. Yep, not much in today. Not good. I agree with Sith and all the above re the apparently bizarre business decisions. However I don't see how you can move he goalposts now without appearing dishonest. Other than having a warm fuzzy feeling about helping the genre I just don't see the incentive to contribute. Apparently other F2P projects have had a hard time on Kickstarter. This campaign seems to have been rushed out.
  20. The module will be F2P with the Spit, 109 and P47. Luthier has confirmed ED have provided the funding for that.
  21. According to Luthier RRG have some funding already, the Kickstarter funding will make things happen quicker, allow them to hire a few more people. If we miss the stretch goal (seems likely) then the stretch planes and content will most likely happen it'll just take longer and the number of planes we see will be dependent on DCS WW2 being a commercial success. Of course we'll have to pay for the stretch goal planes rather than getting them for our $40. That's how I see it anyway.
  22. So basically you can sit back, pledge nothing and receive a free sim in 12 months.…
  23. Tbh I think you should only get the Spit, 109 and P47 if you pledge, $40 for the 3 would be a steal. I think F2P was unnecessary and a big mistake.
  24. A DCS B17 is an enormous project. Just modeling all the crew stations to 2013 level is a huge undertaking. The gap between $100k and $375k seems insermountable at the moment, maybe more detail in the proposal. A different plane for every $50k?
  25. Yes the map is small even for WW1 era aircraft. It was just an example of how we could have English airfields to takoff from using a relatively small map that didn't include major cities. Obviously bigger would be better but expecting a map covering York to Berlin is completely unrealistic.
