  1. I've noticed it doesn't record my time in the right seat, only the default left seat.
  2. At least the initial release hasn't promised too much content and potential overstretched the dev's. Still, producing a new map, 4 DCS P51 quality aircraft, a few AI planes and campaigns in a year sounds like quite a big ask. If things go well then they can offer new planes for sale as normal.
  3. Ahh it seems flight time isn't logged from the right seat of the Mi8. I've been switching to the right seat, when I fly from the left seat time's logged. That seems odd...
  4. Yes its good that $150k was reached. Lets not forget though that ED and Luthier were expecting much more than this, initial stretch goals were at 375K and up to $1m. I'm not expecting speedy progress from now on, this amount of funding puts it on a level with other DCS 3rd party efforts I suspect. The best thing now would be if other 3rd party devs express an interest in producing planes for the engine. Maybe continuing crowd funding via Paypal can work, it'll need regular progress updates though and I'm not sure how the rewards would work though. Star Citizen seems to open and close rewards at will so it can happen outside KS.
  5. Lancasters were used in daytime providing air support for the Normandy bridgehead. I'd love to see a DCS Lancaster but I can accept that the B17 is the better choice being used much more often in daylight. The planes suggested are all worthy, hopefully the Tempest, Typhoon, Hurricane and Mosquito will be next in line for inclusion when the initial planes are complete.
  6. That would be ideal. Give one free plane but let the player choose which of the three they want. That also prevents accusations of, favouring certain sides, or some such.....
  7. I've not seen anything on the 777 boards that suggested people posting there wanted DCS WW2 to fail, completely the opposite. Some people find it hard to trust Oleg/Ilya after CloD, that's not an unreasonable stance to take. Some are concerned about the way the KS has been handled, once again reasonable. I support 777 but I'd have liked nothing more than for RRG to raise $1m+ and prove that there's a huge pool of flight sim fans out there desperate for new products. Unfortunately this KS seems to confirm that the potential market for purely technical sims is really tiny, sadly :(
  8. I'd have created a non combat type such as the Harvard or Tiger Moth and given that as the free to play aircraft. The Spit, P47 and 109 could have been added as rewards for pledges to a certain level. Yes, people love free stuff, although people say KS isn't a shop you do need to motivate people to pledge. Getting the 3 base aircraft for free just took away the motivation imo. The presence of EDs P51 and soon 190D has confused things, their status should have been confirmed right at the start. I now think it would have been better to exclude them completely from the KS goals but say you'll be able to install them in DCS WW2, as with future non RRG WW2 planes. Use the Spit, P47 and 109 as rewards, make it clear they'll be $40 each after release. Use the P51 and 190 as examples of quality only. At least we reached the base goal, things could be worse…
  9. Interesting comments about other 3rd party dev's making WW2 content, DCS WW2 isn't going to be RRG only it seems.
  10. Not training missions just the instant action free flight mission for the Mi8. The first load seems to have registered then nothing for a weeks or so.
  11. I have the same issue. My first couple of flights in the Mi8 were recorded, now nothing.
  12. This WS61 took an RPG just behind the cockpit and carried on flying... http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/News-and-Events/Latest-News/2012/January/10/120110-King-of-Junglies
  13. I want to see England on the map but I think flyable planes are more headline grabbing than map extensions. The Typhoon would have been my choice but maybe the Me262 is aimed at the jet addicted DCS faithfull.
  14. An interesting read I thought. Seems the Mi8/17 compares well with western heli's. http://www.fast-air.co.uk/qinetiq-boscombe-down-mi-17-project-curium/
  15. $375k just isn't achievable, with suitable goals and rewards maybe $150k or even $200k could be though. It'll be interesting what the re-start of the campaign brings. I'm hoping for single seat aircraft at $150k and $200k, maybe that's just too much to ask though.
  16. You could also post this video. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sIh6TFi5Lac&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DsIh6TFi5Lac The maps are small and the view distance is low, even for helicopters. For ground units its great though.
  17. Compared to ROF I find objects pop in and out of view at what seems like quite close range. Targets just disappear then pop back into view, usually on my 6 and with a firing solution....
  18. The new in editor shots look pretty good, with in game lighting it'll look great I'm sure.
  19. To be fair ARMA's maps are tiny by flightsim standards, the terrain is optimized for ground level viewing also. The demands for flightsims are quite different.
  20. It's an interesting option. Lots of KS projects seem to do this, even failed ones.
  21. +1 This is only for the next two weeks.
  22. Its interesting to see the tech stuff behind the models, thanks for this. Nice to see the 190D getting the MW50 :)
  23. A US or UK special forces campaign with the Mi8 would be quite fun.
