  1. The son-9 radar now has a directional cone in it's radar range visualization in ME. However it's still able to scan and track 360°. Which i assume is realistic. What's the deal with the directional cone in ME?
  2. Yes, i understand it's subjective. Thanks for the reply. Will probably set everything in special to off/left and tune from the control/axis menu then. It's more convenient also, because it's available during the mission.
  3. I have a spring joystick, but because the sensor is starting to show its age, i need a little deadzone anyway. Would you still recommend deactivating the deadzone from the special menu and only using axis settings to set up the joystick?
  4. on my feeble 16gb system performance feels a bit more stable. less stutter and f10 map switching is snappy again (used to be very sluggish).
  5. that other combat sim will get realistic visibility distances for external lights with their next major update, so maybe that will motivate ED to finally fix that big problem of DCS.
  6. they should just redo the performance part. it felt rushed and the questioned were seemingly cherrypicked to be answerable without saying anything concrete.
  7. The wording isn't that ambiguous imho: The Fulda Gap seems to refer to an actual module, working title "Fulda Map". The Kosovo refers to a historical configuration of the helicopter, as used in Kosovo and does not refer to a map module. I don't know if that would count as a serious NDA breach. A Cold War Germany map was indirectly confirmed through ED's marketing material over and over again...

  9. Could be Berlin Spandau. Spandauer See looking southward. It looks a bit too rural for that, but maybe it's realistic for the pre-unification era? That would be -by the way- only a few kilometers north of RAF Gatow.
  10. But North German plain is so plainly plain. It's in the name already. You can make Brandenburg/MeckPomm terrain from a single polygon.
  11. Have they actually shown images that were geolocated further south? I care more for Fulda than Berlin (in the context of DCS).
  12. Route tool is a good addition, however i cannot make sense of this part: For me it seems very obviously related to DTC functionality. Does the quote imply that the DTC will have a more complex flight planning and this route feature is mostly for Flaming Cliffs?
  13. It's just that i got the feeling that Afghanistan is once more a project were the Early Access tag really does some very heavy lifting. Ugra's Syria arrived in a more complete state and i'd worry that an ED EA release of a big Germany map would be in Early Access purgatory for many, many, many years... That's one more reason why i suspect Ugra being behind it.
  14. Well, to be honest, after seeing the first videos of the Afghanistan map i'm definitely hoping it's an Ugra project...
  15. I'm also interested in the radar sim. Haven purchased the Mirage yet, because i'm pedantic about those things and found the current implementation a little bit too basic... Will there be "proper" ground returns simulated or will it just be random noise without taking terrain into account?
  16. The people down south in Bavaria are quite particular, but they are sitting on quite a beautiful piece of land imho. Especially nice for aviation. That said for actual gameplay (and possible cold-war-gone-hot scenarios) expanding east (for obvious reason) and north (to reach the baltic) would make more sense...
  17. While this is true, ED has also been very "conservative" regarding the scope of their map projects. Sure Afghanistan will cover a huge area, but most of it is only sparsely populated. I think we all can agree that a German map that spans from Berlin to Fulda would be the most ambitious map project in DCS so far...
  18. Hot Take: It's not an ED project. It's Ugra. ED should be pretty busy with Afghanistan AND Iraq (and the PTO), while we haven't heard anything from Ugra for quite a while...
  19. If my assumption is correct that a big part of the DCS community is actually German, there will be a lot of nitpicking when this eventually releases!
  20. Correct-as-is as already mentioned above. I do wonder though why the cockpit looks so "meh". Do you have textures on high? I thought the cockpit looked a bit better in the trailer, but maybe that was just favorable lighting conditions... I realize that the FF version is an old module, but since other Flaming Cliffs aircraft received facelifts, i was expecting that to be the case for all of them...
  21. Are the legacy aircraft from "Flaming Cliffs 24" technically the same as the aircraft from the legacy FC pack? In other words: Does DCS differentiate between a (for example) F-15C legacy and a F-15C 24? Are the additional aircraft in FC 24 the only difference between legacy FC and FC 24?
  22. I'm thrilled that i'll be able to fly over my house in the sim, but i also hope that Berlin is not the main theme and center of the new map: The whole area is just flat and not interesting for aviation (ignoring the historical context and chances for interesting "what if" scenarios). I think everyone was always assuming a Cold War Germany map would center on Fulda, because not only of it's historical significance, but also because it would make an interesting map to fly in with its lower mountain ranges and diverse landscape. Berlin and Brandenburg in comparison are just flat land without any interesting topography...
  23. Saar sector, French sector, British sector, American sector, Soviet sector. Early Access will be Heligoland only!
  24. In 1994 there wouldn't have been parts of the (then former) inner border left, as they were shown in one of the ED trailers. Either the "Partnership for peace" sign, or the inner border must be an anachronism, if they are on the same map. Maybe the sign is just an oversight? Even if the theme is the German reunification (or a fictional failed reunification) it would still make sense to date the map around 1989. 1994 doesn't make sense at all.
  25. M1A2 is still too new for anything involving the inner German border. M1A1 would be a better fit.
