:D So OK, I did come back because the latest patch seemed so damn good - and it indeed is - but am still not buying anything (or at least no EA modules) unless and until the Yak is finished at last.
The whole of the AI is still as blind as bats at night, even when there's enough light to clearly see what's happening. I just ran an early morning Normandy summer 04.00 AM test mission, and they were completely oblivious to my presence while I was picking them off one by one in my Mustang! ED please, this state of affairs just IS NOT acceptable :(
Hey, by all means do blether away haughtily all you want, but I'm still not buying anything from ED unless and until the Yak is finished first. Because no EA module should be left twisting in the wind for years with no assurances whatsoever of it ever getting actually completed.
We're not complaining about "subtle bugs". We're complaining about a grossly unfinished module we've paid good money for having been left twisting in the wind. So how about you trying to understand a bit?
OK! Do you happen to know which Config\terrain\xxx.lua parameter is the culprit, BTW? Because I'd still like to use my modded files if I just knew what to change...
EDIT: Found it. Put in too high "distancFactor" values and this is what you'll get. 1.8 for high visibility seems to work still, though.
This bug still exists. And it's not only trees that disappear, but warehouses, small villages and such as well. Makes the map all but unusable for missions where you've got to destroy, say, a particular detached house in a village.
Indeed. This is more of a factor than people realize, or are willing to admit. And hence all the whining about how everything is incorrectly modelled. Seen this in all the CFSs I've ever flown, and both sides are equally guilty of it.
Right, so doing away with them wouldn't be realistic, and adapting & focusing beyond isn't doable without getting kludgy either, so damn if you do, damn if you don't.
Hell, I'm gonna paint them myself if this is the swing of things here.
It's an AFV and thus pretty sturdy, so I'd be suprised if you could kill it immediately with .50s. IRL, you could always incapacitate the crew - but this, to my knowledge, is not modelled.
