  1. It's a little ridiculous at this point. Lets get on with it Pimax.
  2. Awesome Home Fries. I use the whole weathered skin and pilot, thanks!
  3. Would love to get a Navy pilot with black tee shirt, tan flight suit, white helmet and brown flight boots. Wish I could do it myself but alas...
  4. Bingo, my friend.
  5. Its damn close. Salutes are cool.
  6. +1 We should have a bindable command, such as "salute" for cat shot. An extra thing which would be cool would be an animated salute from the pilot. At night the command would be turning on the lights. They don't salute in night ops.
  7. I've found that if I assign a switch to flaps cycle and the switch in the cockpit is on full or half, my assigned button won't cycle the flaps. I have to reach down in the virtual cockpit to switch it to auto. then my button works. I'm sure that there is a better way, but alas.... You REALLY need to know what your flaps condition is to do the ball flying properly. The flaps position will determine your on-speed parameters. Make sure you are at full flaps. It's silly to get into the nitty-gritty with the other stuff and not know where the flaps are. Another thing to always be aware of is your fuel state and remaining weapons load out. Makes a massive difference in approach speeds. Even though the speed is not part of your scan, the jet will fly differently with different weight loads and flap conditions. Remember the max trap weight also so you can dump fuel if need be.
  8. Shouldn't we be seeing reviews of the M1 by now? The people they sent them too should have had them for at least a few days.
  9. Gotcha, thanks.
  10. Is there an LSO grading mod coming out?
  11. Carrier landings in VR are awesome, but it is hard to see the meatball. I use VR zoom to check it at 3/4 mile and then I can see it well enough at 1/2 mile or so. One critical thing that vr helps with is the turn at the 180 and 90. Being able to turn your head and see an actual acurate spatial relationship between the jet and the boat is key, especially when you start to train your sight picture.
  12. Make sure you have an amber donut (on speed AOA) when you touch down, otherwise the hook won't be at the proper angle to catch a wire.
  13. Great stuff dburne. Always love your posts. Looking forward to the Hornet in VR when I get home from work....especially the traps at the boat.
  14. You are generally Anti-Early Adopter for any type of equipment, no?
  15. Have you not tried VR in DCS?
  16. I haven't flown in a while guys--trying to hold off until F-18 w/ carrier ops. Is the night lighting still completely screwed up in VR w/ DCS 2.5?
  17. Is the vive in general still considered less user friendly in DCS compared to rift?
  18. And is $799, headset only, no wireless adaptor, controllers or base stations.
  19. Speaking of inflight engagements. One of the A-3's in my dad's squadron (stationed in Guam) got a late wave-off call and when they rotated, the hook accidentally caught a wire. The A-3 got slightly airborne and was slapped back down collapsing the landing gear in the process. They had to sit there for a while because you normally get out of the A-3 from the belly. A couple months later, my Dad (the OIC of the squadron) told everyone they were going back out to the boat. The navigator that had been in the right seat of that incident said: "You can put on a desk if you want but I am never going back to the boat."
  20. He's always just kidding about the young guys flying the new machines, and always enjoys a chance to chat with them when we run into them at the military golf courses. ...but, he did say the A-3 was a PIA to get aboard the boat. The A-7 and A-4 were much easier. With the A-3, you had to get a really good start--you better be tits-on when you roll into the groove.
  21. I heard the guys training in T-45's really have to resist their desire to move the stick fore and aft. My dad has 400 traps and I've heard this since birth: stick for an amber donut and throttle for glideslope. PS: he says you Hornet guys are all a bunch of HUD cripples--says you can't land an A-3 at night in bad weather.
  22. He said he thought he was feeling nausea because of the "distorted image". Is that the stretching of the image to fill 200 FOV?
  23. Have any of you checked out the new improvements to NTTR using VR? It's been so bad in VR since 2.1 that I just went back to 1.5. I actually un-installed 2.1 from my computer completely.
  24. Once you smoke the VR crack, it's over.
  25. Exactly. I'm rooting for them. Of course I want them to succeed so I can do hi-res passes at the boat with the F-18..........but I'm pretty skeptical right now.
