Yep, I know I sound like a douche and I want to be wrong because I really want a next gen HMD. But, there is no way they are getting my money until I see how this fiasco shakes out. If one of the kickstarters gets the 5K plus and gives it rave reviews for DCS....then maybe.

If someone shows up with something like an Odyssey Plus w/ 140 FOV....at around $600...they will wipe Pimax off the map. I don't think that's far away.

Yeah, if they can't do the simple things, they won't be capable of doing the complicated things. It has been funny reading all their updates this year as the development was basically cratering. "Hello Futurists! Everything is going great. We can't run it using a 1070, the FOV isnt actually 200 FOV, we can't quite run at 90 hz, the 8k which isn't an 8k or even a 4k is worse than the 5k, which isn't a 5k, but things are looking great. Not much more delays! Maybe a year! You can smell scents soon!" No thanks. If it's just the FOV, well, someone else will be able to crack that part soon.

They are offering pre-order so they can scale up production, ie , order large numbers of parts and plan assembly at scale. Thus both backers and pre-orders will come faster.....but for pre-orders you are still looking at 3-4 months for delivery.

Dino, yes the 1/2" MDF will be too flexible for the part you sit on, unless you use cross sectional stiffeners. You could use 3/4" for the seat pan, but that stuff is heavy. 1/2 with stiffeners is probably the way to go. Attached some pics of my Hornet Nerd Chair.

Hey guys, lets do this. It was obviously a lot of work to design this 3D model. To ED staff, Any idea when the F-18 will report engine RPM so that an add-on like sim shaker will be able to use engine revs for the tactile feedback? Would really help flying the ball if we could feel the engine spool up. Seems like a simple thing, maybe not?
