Hello Combat Taffy, Just come across this entry, have you found somewhere useful to get your flying feet wet? if yes then you can ignore my ramblings. If you need some help and support for your flying then maybe you could drop by shrek squadron. We are a UK based squad that fly most nights and often during weekday afternoons too ... our server is password protected and access to it is via the squadron teamspeak. This is not an isolationist approach, rather the only way to ensure a minimum quality of flight experience for our members and casual guests alike. You are welcome to fly with us and whilst we are not recruiting new members at this time you can still fly with us at any time as a guest. You will find shrek squadron people are a friendly relaxed lot. If you want to know more Check out this link;- http://www.shreksquadron.org/ or have a chat with squad members in our dedicated TS3 channels. For now ..... Happy landings and we will see you in the blue, regards OGREMAN.

Hello idenwen, Yes that is a common event, the ka50 has issues with power drain when the turbine rpms are low. This would happen during high g loading of the rotors as you can understand. There is little that can be done to prevent this happening but you might try the following, Ensure unemployed systems that drag down the turbine rpm or draw current are switched off whenever practical eg lights and engine heat-dust protection/rotor heat/piton heats. Every little helps, check that your throttle levers are correctly set ie "auto" or in some circumstances "high". Fly conservatively (efficiently) whenever possible avoiding extreme draining manouvers. Finally when all those measures fail and your Skhval goes off on a unscheduled holliday..... DONT PANIC .... it will all return to normal service when your aircraft is once again in a steady state. Knowing that this will happen means you are allready doing something about it ... flying with a better understanding of your aircrafts performance limits.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS, This PONY ROCKS Good review from a particular viewpoint, my experience of the P51d comes from the perspective of having flown every aircraft from this stabel since discovering the "FLANKER B" and have been addicted to them all ever since. So strapping on a prop from this team was a real delight. I found even the beta was so engaging a simulation that it instantly became my "fun chillout bird" which I now fly every day before or after I get into some kick arse modern air combat. I absolutely love this venerable warbird, Love the fidelity Love the way that you must actively fly it at all times Love the great AtoG action Love the eye popping AtoA Most of all I am so engaged in it when I fly it that it never fails to put a large silly grin on my face and for that I am very grateful to the team at ED. I often fly the Mustang with other squad member flying their favourite aircraft in formation at the start or end of a session and it is interesting to note that no matter what aircraft other squad members are flying in, they all really love to see, feel and hear the pony flying beside them. There can be no doubt that this bird is a seductive little temptress that wins hearts wherever it flies in DCSW.

Wicked piece of genuine hardware there.... BIGNEWY Take my word for it guys .... its the REAL DEAL Collective.

OK now you are getting there ... can I assume now that you both understand what I am requesting and agree that it would be an improvement on the existing format? After all, all that we are talking about here is a user being able to enter 3digits and have his username automaticly applied to the side of the cockpit. The LOMAC sim did a lot more than I am requesting of this...... much more up to date piece of programming.

Your right .... but consider this, in order to provide a custom skin IDnumber for a buddy who flies say 4 of the FC3 aicraft and all DCS A10c,BlackShark & P51 .... then you would have to provide 7 aircraft in order to give that buddy the option to fly ........ Now multiply that problem by a dozen buddies and you are beginning to see that in its present form DCS world simply cannot cater for this simple function without bogging down your missions in unused aircraft, not to mention a lot of messing with Callsign and bort nonsense.

There once was a great flight sim program called "LockOn Modern Air Combat" which evolved into todays DCS. A truely great feature of that sim was that in the online client joining dialog each client was given the means to enter their own tail number to be displayed on their chosen aircraft. This simple facility allowed every pilot to apply a tiny bit of customisation to their 'steed' which all other pilots could see and recognise when looking at other aircraft in the sim. I would dearly love to have not only that facility but I would like it to be extended to allow pilots to have their flying "TAG" appear on the cockpit side of their aircraft. This is so very easy to do that I am truely amazed that customization of aircraft by their pilots is not a more discussed topic.

Will we ever see another hardcore jet sim from ED?
OGREMAN replied to Risk's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
WHAT ABOUT OGRES? They are welcome to try :D WHAT ABOUT OGRES? They are welcome to try -
Very good piece of work there NEWY, Looks the biz and it was good to see you fly it on mission tonight, Cool dude. Look out for that HUEY.... BIGNEWY is a coming.

Thank You Wags, It is very encouraging when senior members take time out to acknowledge problems and offer explanations of progress being made. It must seem at times that the community "only complain" but I know that in my squadron at least your efforts are appreciated.

Can't start right after install - (0xc000007b)
OGREMAN replied to Kevlar's topic in Installation Problems
Having exactly the same issue ..... VERY VERY IRRITATING Kevlar I have the same problem this is a copy of the request for support from DCS that I have submitted.................. I should add that I DONT EXPECT that DCS team will help, and certainly not promptly!. After a recent auto update my DCS world now will not start, giving the report "Application unable to start correctly(0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." This respons happens no matter which .exe file I use to attempt to start the program, eg Short cut icon for both Single player /GUI or Icon for multiplay or any auto updater/ repair function. Since this occured I have un-installed fully the entire program removed all DCS world files and re-installed to defaults from a clean start but the problem continues exactly as before. Good Call Falcon ;-)) I think your right, the long range sams in particular seem "UNDERSTATED".

Excellent ... Rock Solid guide .... K-LINE is a good system :pilotfly:

BIRTHDAY DRINKS on Capt HADDOCK Happy "getting one year older" day TIN TIN :-) I bet you and Capt Haddock will be putting them down tonight.... (I will join you for one on TS buddy).

I am just one of several members of -=Shrek=-Squadron who is very very excited at the prospect of taking this bird into combat.... Regards from "one drooling aviation fool".

Hi Eddie, I know that the missle is a "beam rider" and the sensor in the rear picks up the beam.... it aquires the beam because the tube is allready mounted with a leteral offset so that the missle will converge with the beam at a fairly precise distance in front of the helo, "CONVERGENCE" is a standard practice for this kind of system. Ballistic convergence ..... the rocket when fired will leave the housing (tube) and be driven to maximum velocity by the rockets, the accelerating rocket will fly a precisely determinable path with or without guidance of any sort because at this point it behaves like a bullet from a barrel this is simply ballistics. Using this principle the rocket will intercept the laser grid (beaming from the front of the helo) because the rocket housing/tube is mounted with an offset from parallel (called tow) of just a couple of degrees. The intercept point, (rocket joins laser beam) is consistent and predictable as long as the laser guide beam is within the cone described on the HUD. From that point the rocket guidance kicks in and guides the rocket along the beam. A simpler way of putting this might be to say ..... the rocket is fired like a bullet at a fixed point in front of the helo that the laser will always pass through.

There has to be an error here! The laser range launch circle on the head up display is IMHO behaving at complete odds with basic sighting practice of any weapon I have ever used (and I have use a great many, including laser ranged). It makes no sense at all that the launch circle should jump such a significant distance. Consider this, the distance between the weapons pylons is not more than say the length of a truck (precise measure is not needed to make this point) and generally the distance at which a target is locked is many thousands of mtr away. The length of a truck as see from many thousands of mtr away would not create a centering offset motion greater that a few millimetre in the head-up display so there would be absolutely no requirement for this display to be moved so far that every shot would require you to adjust the position of the helecopter. If we are to belive that this is a true representation of the sighting mechanisim then all I can say is Russian technical expertese is not looking too good.

Cant Resist comment.... Each and every aircraft that fly's has got a physical/ aerodynamic and tech/avionics character that is unique to not only that AC type but unique to every individual aircraft. Learning to fully appreciate this will eventualy teach you that "IF IT FLY'S .... its A THING OF BEAUTY" and deserves at the very least ... a little respect.

Well It gets my vote on the "next DCS development list" Hmmm  Whats not to like about that.

The most abiding memory of this gathering for me was the unbroken smiles and unbridled laughter ....... when you have been flying together for as long as us ..... there is no "ice to break". It was simply great fun being with people you already regard as friends.

That was a great read Smokin Hole, your prose had me in that seat with you and I am gratified to hear that you are convinced of the value and fidelity of todays best sims. S! PS. I have a replica enclosed plywood pit (SU27) which produces via the Sub Woofers great vibration thus mimicing motion, your comment about "ButtKicker" reminded me to fit the one I have gathering dust in my workshop.

Hit the nail on the head Thank you Panzertard:thumbup: Your suggestion about broken objects causing mission editor to break led me to test that out and it is clear that this is the cause of my problem. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to identify the faulty logic/conflict in the mission structure. Strange thing is the mission functions exactly as intended, units triggers etc are all fine. I wont be getting too exited about this just now (beta and all that), I hope the finished ME program will be more robust than this. So Thank you once again Panzertard S!

Thnx For this post Just knowing that others have the same issue is strangely reassuring:joystick:

I have not been able to remove any objects from my missions. Once placed on the map they cannot be removed by any means. All other oporations on objects and groups work fine but no removal/delete, I have tried the following, highlight/select object/group and keyboard delete key remove group or object tool option in both the dropdown menu and the side bar icon. I have also uninstalled and re-installed DCS world and patch My Rig is:OS;-Win7 home premium +svc pack1 64bit, CPU;-Intel Core i7-2600K @3.4 x 3.4GHz Motherboard;-ASUS P8Z68-VLX + Intel Chipset Graphics:-NVIDIA ZOTAC Gtx 560Ti 10024MB DDR5 HDMI DVI PCI Internal Drive;- Seagate "Barracuda" 1Tb SATA 1700RPM 32MB cache RAM 4x2048MB DDR3 PC3 12800 @ 1600Mhz 240 tot=8.00 GB Other Hardware;TrakIR4Pro HOTAS;- Saitek X52 Pro + Saitek Pro Rudder pedals.

Excellent Images, I really love the use of crop & zoom in the second picture, it creates a nice new perspective, very creative.
