  1. Wow, thanks everybody. Lots of good tips. I meant A2A and now I use RWR to detect radar guided missiles. I will stick to enemies that use those missiles for now, so that I can get a warning. I use PD of 1.3, so can try to reduce to 1.0 and see if I can detect missiles. But, will not be able to do that before weekend. I will also try to use countermeasures not only when I see a missile. Currently trying to get AWACS to work (another thread), so that I can see where the enemy is and prepare accordingly. I will keep you all updated with my progress using all these tips. One thing already did change: I now fight AI that use missiles. Much more satisfying to kill them now. Thanks!
  2. Thanks. Much appreciated help. I removed all civil planes from the mission, as they needed an addon and put the F-18 into the air, so that you can test communication with AWACS immediately after start of mission. F-18-Mig-21-awacs-test.miz
  3. I'm having really problems to set up an EWACS that will detect and report incoming AI. Bandit is a Mig21Bis, and it just flies below the AVACS that reports clean sky. Is AWACS buggy, or am I doing something wrong?
  4. >Спасибо за полезную информацию в данной теме.... Sorry, but I cannot read this language. I assume Russian?
  5. Thanks David OC, will have a look and see if it helps. I also use tacview. But basically it only tells me that there was a missile, although I did not see it.
  6. I only play in VR and never see the missiles coming. So, never actually use counter measure, as I do not know when to do so. I'm currently mainly using F.18, but this is also applicable for the Mirage 2000, Viggen and the A-10. These are my go to modules. AI always knows when a missile is coming and use counter measures. Good for them. I end up never fighting AI that have anti air missiles, which is a bit boring in the end. How do you know when to use counter measure? Is this a VR issue, that missiles are not visible enough? Or am I just not good enough?
  7. Happened to me too. Was testing a mission and by mistake started in 2D. It’s like watching someone else fly. We are living in exceeding times. Most simulations have now support for VR.
  8. OK, tried it, but was unlucky. No rain. Will try again and see if I get lucky next time and sit under a cloud.
  9. Can somebody try to explain in what way this airplane is different than any of the ww2 planes? I very welcome use them, as I usually get my plane stalled (at least that is what I believe it is doing, flipping around suddenly and not reacting to input) all the time while fighting the Ai. Would I enjoy the yak?
  10. Wow! did not know that. Thanks!
  11. I thought rain effect can only be enabled if cloud density is 9 or 10?
  12. Just noticed rain with clouds (not overcast) in the new video of the Yak. at 0.29 min I do hope we will get this effect soon?
  13. Eagle dynamics should talk with mbot.
  14. You probably have a CPU bottleneck. Same on my system. No performance gain, but I was able to enebke MSAA x4 without performance gain.
  15. I did not get any more FPS out of my system, because the bottleneck is my CPU. But I was able to enable MXAA x4 and still keep same FPS. So, my GPU was less busy and could handle the additional workload. Also, MXAA is only Applied to the middle of the scree, which makes a lot of difference for VR, as with higher pixel density the resolution is cranked up and that has a x2 impact on performance.
  16. Unfortunately not. I have the same problem. But, I was able to turn on MSAA x4 without performance loss!
  17. Wow, 4.7GHz CPU. I was not aware that it is possible to run a stock CPU at that speed for longer time. That could make a difference.
  18. Agree, but the point here is not how fast compared to someone else, but how much RAM performance has an impact. So, best would be experience from people who upgraded their system and measure new performance.
  19. Thanks, but what is your RAM performance? People keep posting GPU and CPU specs but forget RAM spec, although it seems to be more important than CPU specs.
  20. I currently get 23 FPS in vr using f-18 and gulf map. I’m happy, but would like to have better FPS when I upgrade my system. I know that my CPU is the bottleneck, but if I look how much better new CPU single core performance is compared to my 7 year old CPU, then I cannot expect more than 30% improvement. But some people have much better performance with modern CPU. Im asking myself since a long time, how is it possible, that people’s with 30% better CPU performance have 50% or even more better performance. I now believe that it is related to memory bandwidth. My current system has DDR3 with 1600Mb/s. Modern DDR4 ram can go up to 3200Mb/s. That is exactly 2x the speed. That is much better than 30% and would allow CPU to run much more efficient. If that is true, then a new computer would make allot of difference and it would mean that memory bandwidth is very important to DCS performance. Anybody with experience that can confirm my idea or crush it?
  21. I had to go to .65 something for the rift and still can see occasionally artifacts. It is always also a matter of Balance between performance and quality. But, strange is what you see on the 2d screen and not in the oculus. There are actually 2 versions of the scene rendered. The original and the new one on top. The on top version is slightly compacted, so you will see at the edge the same part of the scene twice. I have no idea what is causing this and why the new version is more compact. As if the camera has a different aspect than the standard view. Sorry, cannot explain this in words and I’m in a train and cannot post a picture until Monday. Im a bit worried that this new compact version is causing distortion in the oculus.
  22. Without shaders dcs cannot work. What kind of error did you get?
  23. No improvement in performance, but better visuals on my computer. Tested with hand Made mission with f-18 on the gulf map. Better visuals are dir to the MSAA. But, you have to turn it one. Before it was impossible to run MSAA. Now I use x4. I can clearly see that in the corner of my eye the city and the water is shimmering below, but in the middle of my vision, no shimmering. In other words. This mod is a must have for any DCS user using VR. Finally I can enjoy the gulf map is it was supposed to be.
