  1. Unfortunately none of the suggested settings worked for me. No matter what combination of settings I try the comms menu still shows up.
  2. Thanks guys. I set the SRS keys to the same keys as in DCS (I have to use keys because I don't have a mic switch on my throttle), I have "Radio Switch works as PTT" to On, and "Allow INCOCKPIT DCS Controlled PTT" to Off. Correct?
  3. SRS doesn't use assigned keys, you use your mic switch in DCS and SRS uses it for comms so there's nothing to unassign.
  4. When using SRS for comms during multiplayer missions, the default comms menu always appears in the upper right screen whenever I use any of the mic switches even though I haven't pressed the \ key. This means I have to exit out of the comms menu before using any of the F keys which is cumbersome, and if I forget and hit an F key before exiting, it changes my radio frequencies. Is there any way to activate the mic switches without pulling up the comms menu?
  5. Mission 3 requires you to overfly a stadium at 1200 TOT, however the mission starts around 0720 and it doesn't require 4.5 hours to fly to the stadium. The briefing says mission start is 1112. Is this a bug?
  6. Screenshot?
  7. I asked a question and provided factual statements. That is not ranting. If you can't handle questions and facts, yes, please ignore me.
  8. I have volunteered, several times. All I said was there are errors in the manual which could easily be fixed and ED has not done so. That is a factual statement. Why is there so much animosity towards me when all I've done is point out an ongoing area which needs improvement and which would help the user? It's irrelevent whether I've written technical manuals (I have), it's irreleveant how long the manual is (you don't have to rewrite the entire manual, just make corrections and add updates), it's irrelevant whether someone's opinion is that it is difficult to make corrections (it's not), and it's irrelevent that the module is complex and evolving (it takes a few seconds to add "Not currently functional").
  9. I'd have to respectfully disagree; it's not that difficult to run a spell check, have a few proofreaders look over things, correct errors when they're found, and when you release new versions or new capabilites you simply make the changes. It's just a pdf file, very easy to keep updated. Like my question regarding image capture, someone put that on the HOTAS list knowing that it wasn't discussed anywhere in the manual and knowing that they didn't include any explanation. It would have taken them 5 seconds to type, "Not currently functional" and hit save. There are lots of users including myself who would be happy to help with the manual.
  10. No, it should just say "151: Bearing to Ownship" and "038 Distance to Ownship".
  11. Yes, so the guide is incorrect then.
  12. On pg 412 of Chuck's Guide it says that the bearing to the hooked symbol is 151 degrees, however since the hook mode selector is set to Hook/Own, that means 151 is the bearing from the hooked symbol to ownship, correct? Same on page 413, 239 is the bearing to ownship, correct?
  13. Seems pretty obvious, you include information in the manual so users know how to operate the controls and fly the sim properly, and so they know whether something is supposed to work or not. There are multiple instances in the manual where it is indicated that some function or another is not modeled in the sim. When the manual labels a HOTAS function which doesn't work, and then ED fails to provide any further information, the user is left wondering if they're doing something wrong, if their controls are malfunctioning, if there is a problem with their installation, spending time on these and other forums trying to figure it out, etc. This is just another example of ED's failure to simply keep the manual updated and/or otherwise provide current information for customers.
  14. If it's yet to be implemented, why is that not made clear in the manual or with a simple posting on the website? Just another one of the many errors in the which ED won't address.
  15. So we have a HOTAS button/function that is not discussed anywhere in the manual, doesn't do anything (that I can tell) in the sim, nobody knows what it's for, and the sim still doesn't allow us to reassign long presses in order to assign it to something useful. Am I missing something or not understanding something correctly?
  16. Anyone know what 'Image Capture' (Left Throttle Button Long) does exactly, and has anyone ever figured out how to easily assign a long press to a HOTAS control if I'd like it to do something other than capture an image?
  17. If you fire 3 Mavs from one station, 1500 +/- pounds does make a difference though, so it would have been nice if there was a setting to alternate. It also would be nice if the station number for the active Mav, or any other ordnance, remained on the HUD.
  18. I stand corrected, I was looking at Chuck's Guide (pg 224). However, there are errors or confusion in the ED manual also. For example, it shows Boat Switch FWD and AFT as black hot and white hot when it should be black crosshairs and white crosshairs (pg 93), it shows Mav China Hat FWD Short as Uncage/consent to self-track when it should be Mav FOV, and it shows Coolie Down Short as Swap MFCDs when it should be HMCS as SOI. Then on page 90 it has TAD DMS functions that don't do anything (Quick Toggle, Select TAD Centre Option, CEN/DEP Mode CNTR Own), the HMCS DMS FWD and AFT brightness functions don't do anything, and TGP TMS FWD Short says NR track when I assume it should be INR Track. Also, page 90 says TGP AFT Short is FLIR Auto Focus while page 522 says it's Return to INR Track. I could go on, but all the errors in the manual is a different thread.
  19. Speaking of the Mav crosshairs, why does the current manual for the Mav Boat Switch say Light/Hot Dark/Cold for both the FWD and AFT positions? What does that mean and why are they the same?
  20. That's my point, the manual is inaccurate/outdated/confusing which makes it frustrating for an average user when it doesn't have to be. Yes, it's a complex sim. Yes, ED is busy (and we thank them for everything they do). Yes, a few errors are to be expetcted. Etc, etc. But the point is that a user should be able to pull up a current, accurate, and fairly mistake-free manual rather than endlessly searching through third-party guides, trying to find releveant videos on youtube, scouring this and other forums for explanations and solutions, etc. Those other sources should be supplemental, the official manual should be the standard. It's not difficult to do. When you find and correct errors or make changes you simply update the manual and post a more current version. If you release a new Tank Killer version you post a supplement to the manual or make the changes in the manual itself. When you are working with stable and OB versions, you keep the manual accurate for the stable version and post separate info for OB users. For example, why does the current manual show HOTAS TAD functions that don't actually work (Select TAD center option, CEN/DEP Mode CNTR Own, etc.)? Or why does the Boat Switch for the Mav say Dark/Cold Light/Hot for both the FWD and AFT positions when what it really does is just change the color of the crosshairs? Is it because these are mistakes, or something that's planned to be implemented later, or only works in OB, or worked before but doesn't work now, or only applies to the Tank Killer, or because my controller isn't working correctly, or because I don't understand something, etc.? I have no way to know without spending a lot of time searching for the answer, when the manual itself should contain the answer. Again, I love the sim. This is just an area that could easily be improved which would really help a lot of users. And yes, I'd be happy to help write/proofread/review.
  21. Not sure I understand your comment. You can adjust the boresight as many times as you want.
  22. Also, even if I reference the other guides there are still confusing mistakes. For example, in the current Chuck's guide Page 211 says Coolie Up for HMCS as SOI, and then says Coolie Down for HMCS as SOI on the very same page.
  23. Thanks Hawkeye. I guess I don't undertand stable vs. OB. It seems that stable should be exactly that, stable (at least reasonably so), while OB should be the less stable, more buggy, work in progress version. IMO a customer should be able to say, "I'll purchase and stick with the stable version because that's the one where most bugs have been worked out, where the manual is accurate, and where I won't have to worry as much about glitches and things that don't work." Whereas another customer can decide, "I'll use the OB version with the understanding that I'll get to try some new stuff, but I accept that there will be various problems and I might have to figure some things out on my own." Just my two cents from someone who loves the sim but who sees some things that could easily be improved for the average user.
  24. And why is there not a way to edit the title so I can correct it from 'difference' to 'differences'?
