it should be possible to select single units by clicking on them. maybe you have to zoom in a little bit. if it does not work properly, you have the UNITS list button (on the left side). you get a list with all the units in the mission, and you can select them directly from there and edit all the waypoints etc. -> that's the way you have to do it for units, which are invincible on the map. the main problem with this list: you need to know which one is which unit, so you should give the important units proper names to work with...

i already tried to copy the waypoints in this mission, but also with no luck. other missions work without any problems, but this mission drives me crazy. my OS is winXP32 (SP3), i use notepad++ and winrar as well, but every time one tries to host this mission after the editing, the "server has been shut down" message appears. which makes no sense, as one is trying to open that server, not connecting to it...

md5 is a checksum, generated by a standard for a specific file. if the checksum of your downloaded is not the same as the checksum of the original file on the server, the file is "damaged". this happens mostly with large downloads, and/or if the connection or line quality is bad or unstable. you can try a different method to download the files, by using a download manager. (google for "free download manager"). a downloadmanager usually keeps track of all the single small parts of a file, and is even capable to re-start a broken/stopped download. by the way, be happy with one hour :). at release-day, i waited 8 hours... and then the file was broken too :(. for gods sake, a friend hosted the files then and i could dowload it in 40 mins...

are you really sure you forwarded the right ports to the right IP and activated the rule as well? it's no offense, but sometimes i tend to overlook some small option or whatever, and in the end it just doesn't work properly and i believe it must be an error because i "did everything right" :) the described problem is EXACTLY what happens when: - the ports are not forwarded properly - or the port is set wrong by blackshark (known "bug") usually, one can connect to different servers, but others can not connect to his server when the portforwarding is not working properly... 1. check router settings/portforwarding. my own router has different options where i can "route" ports to IPs, but only 1 is really the portforwarding, the rest is some firewall-stuff i didn't get yet. but the screens looks the same... 2. if set correctly, try it when all (ALL!) the antivirus + firewall softwares are completely turned OFF (including the MS ones). 3. if another one still can't connect to your server (or vice versa), try to enter the port manually. connect directly, not by the serverlist. instead of "111.111.11.111", try "111.111.11.111:10308". <- this solved the problem for my server, by doing this my friends could finally connect. 4. if you tried it WITH the port added, try it this time without - some ppl stated, that they could NOT connect when adding the port, but without it went just fine... other than that, i have no idea...

if you really think this, then you haven't yet understood what the Digital Combat Simulator Series means to be :) that's like saying you don't want to buy rFacor, because if you want to drive a racecar, you load up super mario kart on the SNES ;)
-
when you try to connect to each other, make sure to add the port manually after the IP, because BS sometimes just changes the ports and makes a mess... do connect directly or by clicking on the server in the list? i would suggest to do it directy, then enter the IP including the port, ie: 144.180.200.43:10308

confirmed, they work for me when the axis is not set in the profile-editor, but inside the game. also the toebrakes are working (as wheelbrakes, bound in the saitek software) and MAKE SURE to DELETE the other axis in the setup! right now, the X52Pro "twist" is defined as rudder axis, and this one should be deleted. then map the pedals to the axis instead...

you guys are talking about russion helos - they ARE dirty :) very nice work, thx!

release is posted in the very first post: they aim for may, but no guarantee.

LOL :) EthereaIN: jup, sorry, i meant stresstesting - like memtest, superPI, FurMark and stuff like that. viper3two: overclocking is not hard to do, once you got the basics. i just like to point out possible(!) problems occuring, because sometimes ppl forget to mention that you CAN destroy something. today, you almost need to do it on purpose, tough ;) some years ago, ppl had to destroy single parts on the videocard to open up other pixel lines, or "draw" new contacts with a pencil to boost them up heh. these day, all the goodies are software-based and easy to do. sure, if you have RAM designed to run at 1600, then go for it. and there are many parts on the market which are designed for oc'ing, so you don't loose guarantee. like my corsair RAMs, they where at 1.8V from stock, but proofed and certified from corsair for up to 2.2V... so i set them to 2.2V and started to play with the timings heh. bottomline - you can oc', but don't do it just blindly :). and to be honest, besides of the processor speed, it does not make a really huge difference most of the times. your proc is already very fast, so no "need" to do it right now. you can wait some time, and then instead of buying an new one, give it a boost for another 6 months. that's what i always do - toast the stuff when it anyways would be time for new heh

check your FPS in a empty mission, not in a mission full with units and/or triggers. the developers mentioned, that there is a problem with the adressing of RAM by VISTA. the problem is VISTA-related and -based, and only MS can do something about it... that's the reason, why in the new campaigns (which come with the english version) there is a warning, that these campaings will only work with XP and not with vista. just to make sure that not the OS is the limiting factor, and you spend hours with testing :) and one word to the overclocking - in the last years, it became really easy to overclock, and most processors and even grafic cards can get clocked up a goot notch with "no problems". I also have oc'ed my processor, but you should still be aware: - your guarantee is gone. if a part is dying, you have to buy a new one. - the lifespan of the oc'ed parts IS SHORTER. maybe the part will last for 4 years (instead of 6, or 8 years without oc'ing), but maybe it will be dead in 1 year... which also means, you have to buy a new one. - even if you test all the parts with benchmarks for hours with no problems, there is always the chance that "something" will not work like it should. with oc'ed parts, you will have to go back to default settings with every single error happening, just to make sure it has nothing to do with it. all my apps/games are running well with my actual processor, but when i oc'ed my older core2duo, everything exept MS FSX went well. took me quite a while to figure out, that the CTD's happening from time to time were related to it... you can do it, it's not hard, it's not very risky, but i just be aware of the (possible) negative sides.

security cover button thingie is used as "pickle" button, so for firing missiles/dropping bombs. the regular "trigger" is used as cannon firing trigger, when pressed together with the pinky it switches to cannon mode and back...
-
the "or" is possible by creating a separate trigger for each OR-condition... means, a loooot of work (because you can not copy/paste triggers) and a lot of triggers, so inside the mission you may get problems with the framerate...
-
jup, when you delete all the submodes in the profile, the pinky can be used as a regular button. i did the same, but then i set the pinky in the BS options as a modifier. that way, you can use all the other buttons with the modifier, so you can map every button twice. without that, i felt like having not enough buttons and functions on my hotas...

i had this several times (RU DL version), but they re-appear when BS is closed and restarted. at least they should :)

the gun is huge as well :) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/72/GAU-8_avenger.jpg

you could create a triggerzone short in front of the target area, and then activate the smoke-firing unit trought it. this way, the unit starts when you arrive in the area. i usually let them start in the air, in a valley nearby but out of sight, so it looks like they where just flying in on time... if you have a specific target to mark, use the "point" attack mode, otherwise just define a target area and -types, but the AI then needs some time to find different targets (and almost impossible to create matching voice-files for that one).
-
edit: too late, and i guessed not bad i think :) ============== my guess is, that it has something to do with these optics, so the SU25T has a way longer detection range. but then, i also guess, that the AI routines used to evaluate IF a target is detected or not, are kind of simplified (they are for sure, the question is how much?). so maybe the SU25T has like a cone defined, starting on his nose, and is limited by mathematic factors like ["length_of_cone"=12000m; horizontal_angle=+/- 30degrees, vertical_angle=+0/-30degrees]. if a target is inside the cone and visible range is greater that distance of the AC to the target, and target is inside for longer than XY seconds (depending on the skill of the AI pilot), it gets "seen". that way, it would be a good mix between realistic possibility of finding a target and not too much processor load... but it can also generate some situations, in which a human player would have completely different results than a AI, or the results from plane to plane differs... but only guessing here! imho, around 3000 meters seem to be realistic for detection by eye for single targets or small groups. bigger groups, especially when moving, should be detected from further awawy, depending on the situation.
-
interesting stuff :) one may test what the ID-range/attack-range is, when the FROG and the HOG do not fly straigt in the direction of the targets, but instead fly paralell to them - so the AI has to detect the targets visually, and not by optics... that way, the SHOULD be equal

found some nice close-ups from 30mm GAU-8 hits:

some ppl (like me) have problems to activate AA and AF when creating a profile for BS. i had to delete BS from the profiles list, and need to force AA and AF in the global setting, then it works. and try higer AA setting, i have better frames with 8xAA than with 4xAA
-
for my x52, i had to disable/delete the shifted modes inside the saitek profile manager. without that, the regular pinky-switch on the stick couldn't be assigned as modifier ingame. if you have the same problems, give it a try :)

no, worst case scenario is: internet develops self-consciousness, re-names it self to skynet, starts a nuclear war against human race and blows away 99% of us. then, it overtakes the idea from matrix, but instead of humans it uses cows... but, maybe skynet will use the mission editor from blackshark, so we still have a slight chance ;)

Hosting with black shark i think i found a bug

i didn't get the techical stuff, but just as additional information - i have and always had the russion download-version installed. and i have the problem of the changing port as well, so i'm not sure if its related to the version (using a router with portforwarding) and please, don't give me more technical informations about this, 'cause i'm like a single-handed half-brainer in technics :) thanx for your effort guys, very much appreciated! (even if i don't know WHAT you really did heh) -
jup - holding down the trimbutton does deactivate the "heading hold", but still you have the dampeners working. when deactivating the channel completely, the dampener is also turned off... depending on the situation you may turn faster, but things tend to get "shaky" then. try to do it when flying very slow and you see what i mean (the faster you fly, the more stabilising is done by the airflow along the helo) you can make a test, while hovering around over a airport: -> fly straight, go into hover, turn 180 degress, fly straight and turn another 180 degrees while holding some airspeed 1. with all the AP channels ON, and not holding down the trimbutton 2. with all the AP channels ON, but holding down the trimbutton 3. with FD-Mode ON, all AP channels ON, with and without holding the button 4. with all the AP channels OFF you will soon find out how it feels different from one way to the other, and how the single parts of the "fly control" work together (or against each other)...
