  1. Gents, lately I startet to enjoy flying my new BF109 in Multiplayer. After some exhausting dogfights, I wanted to take a break without leaving the server. But anytime, I take of the Rift (even keeping it in front of the sensor), my Mulitplayer blackscreens and there is not way back... Any ideas, what I can do different? Game already runs in full screen. Cheers, Monty
  2. Thanks for your help, but that made no difference to my problem. I am just wondering, since it came out of nowhere... It even makes no difference after a reboot and a first profile loading via Target...
  3. OK, life is so simple. Plugging the controllers out and in again, resolved the problem... Have done that before, so don´t ask what happened  EDIT: Problem is coming back, I have to unplug and replug the controllers... Any ideas why?
  4. Gents, out of nowhere I ran into the following problem... When using TM Warthog joystick and throttle without running a TARGET-profile, I used to have a separate joystick and a separate throttle in DCS. When using TM Warthog joystick and throttle running a TARGET-profile, I used to have a combined controller in DCS. But now, when I run my TARGET-profile, I have my combined controller plus a separate joystick and a separate throttle in DCS. So most of the axes and buttons are occupied twice. E.g. pressing the autopilot button resolves in a key-command by the combined controller and a DX-command by the separate throttle. I could delete all buttons and axes of the separate controllers in DCS, but that is not how it meant to be. Any ideas? I already reinstalled TARGET-software. Firmware is up to date... Cheers, Monty
  5. Hey Bitmaster, glad that everything is on the way now. When I see a DHL-guy driving around, I will clear the way for him  What graphics card are you running? The other parts are nearly the same as mine (ok, I have the "tinier" version) and I am very happy with my new PC. Cheers, Monty
  6. Ok, then I don't have to think about it any more. Thanks for your advice!
  7. Thanks for the compliments Bitmaster and your excellent help, very much appreciated! Now I keep my fingers crossed for your hopefully quick replacement! If I remember right, it has been a return to Mindfactory. If you run into any problems, ask at the phone for "Frau Weniger", she has helped me a lot with my order, which I had to change a couple of times since a few things haven't been available. Very friendly support by her! Cheers, Monty
  8. I have multiple graphics interfaces on my graphics card, so my monitor is plugged to DVI and the Rift to HDMI. That´s not the problem... But I also have a HDMI interface of my onboard graphics. So I am thinking of connecting the monitor to the onboard graphics to have only the Rift plugged to the graphics card. I am hoping of getting a bit more performance... I thought I have read somewhere, that this might work!?
  9. Hey guys, I think I have read somewhere here in the forum, that some of you have the monitor running over the onboard graphics while the Rift is connected to the graphic card. I posted my problem already here, but didn´t get some helpful reply: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=181560 Is it really not possible to run the monitor via onboard graphics while using the Rift? Cheers, Monty
  10. Gents, to tweak the perfomance of my PC for the Rift a bit further, I would like to plug my monitor to the onboard graphic of the mainboard. Booting my system, I did enable onboard graphic in Bios. The monitor only goes active, when I unplug the Rift from the graphiccard and the plug it back in. But when I start DCS, it only runs on the (mainboard attached) monitor, not on the Rift. In the Rift menu it says "waiting for DCS.exe". Probably the solution is quiet easy, but I just can´t find it. Thanks for your help! Monty
  11. 5.0 GHz was just close to 3000, also 5.1. With 5.2 @1.4V I got the following result, but everything under 1.4V has been unstable. So this was only ONE short test of what might be (even more) possible, to get the magic 3000 cracked... I will now go back to 5.0 or lower...
  12. Definitely!!! Having way too few time for gaming, I did had the chance for some dogfights sitting in a F86 against a MiG15. Wow! That was so intense, your adrenaline is so much higher since you really feel the enemy is right behind you. I was sweating and breathing heavily as I tried to leave the MiG behind. Dam, that has been so real! And I found out, that I could turn my head to the left much further than to the right - until now, I even didn´t knew that. I have to go to my doc and tell him, I need a more balanced flexibility for dogfighting :megalol: Are you guys using labels in (gun-)dogfights? It has been hard in TrackIR to keep the enemies tracked and it is easier with the Rift, but still when you lose sight, it is hard to find them before being shot at...
  13. @4.8 GHz I got around 2870 @5.0 GHz I got around 2925 Both with 1.32V I think you can go for even more, but heck that´s enough for me tonight :smilewink:
  14. "Servus" Bitmaster, I am currently running at (rather safe) 4,8 GHz with 1.3V. Only playing DCS the temps are around 40°C. While mounting the H90 WC, I thought that the screws could have been twisted a bit harder, but the small distance of the backplate prevented me from getting it any firmer (the screws startet skidding). That´s why I am testing the temperatures, to see if everything works fine. What do you think of 40 @gaming and 70@stress test - is the cooling working properly? I am still trying to overclock the GTX1070 having read this article: http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1070-g1-gaming-review,29.html Core clock @+114 works fine, but Memory clock over +200 keeps producing failures. How did they manage to get +650 out of it? Cheers, Monty
  15. After my 1st weekend with the Rift, I would like to give some additional feedback to all of those, who have no VR-Glasses yet or are thinking of buying one. 1. Resolution Being overwhelmed from the immersion of the cockpit (letting your yaw hit the ground), you kind of accept the lower resolution compared to a monitor based game playing. After a couple of flights and getting used to the new 3D-enviroment, you start recognizing, that it is sometimes hard to read instruments (like the labels of switches or the MFDs), but you don´t really bother, since it is too much fun to fly around. But as soon as you start a combat mission or campaign, you have to rely on what you can see or not. Interestingly my eyes started do see more and more of those details (and labels), which I couldn´t see before. Maybe the Rift has been placed better on my head the longer I use it (only a few mm does change the sharpness dramatically) or I am just getting used to the lower resolution. Anyway, meanwhile I do feel quite comfortable with the Rift and reading everything from the MFDs. Only at gun- or rocket-runs you will see the single ground targets not before approx. 1.0 – 1.5 miles distance, but I think that is quite realistic. Using TrackIR before I always zoomed in to the max and could see the targets a lot of miles ahead – that is definitely not realistic… 2. Situation awareness This is by far the BIGGEST improvement of using VR. I have played the 2nd mission of Piercing Fury, which is a quite complex and unusually long mission. You have to watch a complex of buildings, defend your attacking troops from infantry, an incoming convoy, chase an escaping jeep, find a shot down pilot, defend the pilot from incoming convoys and infantry. So a lot of thing have to be found and observed for quite a long time in the air. Having played this beautiful mission with TrackIR a short time ago, I remember how hard it has been to find and keeping tracked the landing zone of the friendly choppers and to keep the buildings our groups are attacking parallel in sight, to find the shot down pilot (e.g. observing his flares) and last but not least to find and attack all the enemies. Using a Rift now, everything changes into a magnificent situation awareness. When you circle the town with the building complex, you exactly know where the buildings are located in town, you easily spot the blue smoke of the choppers landing field and you know exactly in every moment, where your plane is. In a complex situation, where you are informed about multiple enemy troops being spotted or coming in, it is so much easier to find them even with the lower resolution just by knowing where to look at. Chasing the escaping jeep is so much fun, because you always know where the jeep is, even if you lose sight due to turns, you know exactly at which flank of a hill it has been and after a couple of seconds, when you finished the turn, you know where to look at since you have a “natural feeling” for the surrounding landscape. When you are being shot at, by AAA or missiles, you do spot the enemy easily and keep him tracked without any problems, just because you can keep the eyes on him knowing exactly what you plane is doing. The new situation awareness – next to the immersion - makes the Rift worth every cent. 3. Immersion It has been written a lot of things regarding the immersion so I don´t have to repeat it. But there are funny things that occur, just because you now are using VR. Like others already told, doing acrobatic maneuvers does have certain impacts to your stomach. Doing a steep turn for a landing approach gives you exact the same feeling like in a real plane (only missing the g´s). Flying myself the small prop-planes in real life for two decades, it is exactly what happens to my stomach in real life. But furthermore, you are so much into the game, that after having landed after a long mission and opening the canopy, it feels like getting some fresh air. Maybe I am a bit crazy, but that has happened several times. I don´t know, if you guys have experienced the same. That is only one example of how deep your brain and your body is into this game – just amazing! So at the end I have to say, that VR does change the way of gaming dramatically. It will never be the same and I think (and hope), that more and more games will be developed for VR, since it is a quantum leap compared to playing with monitors, even when TrackIR is being used. Imaging, that this is just the beginning and it´s just a matter of time, until the resolution will improve, the future does look very good especially for realistic sim-gaming – and that´s why we are all here in this nice forum… Cheers, Monty
  16. Thanks for your tip Cibit. I will take care of my CPU! I just made a short stress test to check, if the watercooling does work. While gaming the temp does not go above 40°, so everything is fine...
  17. Guys, I have now experimented a little bit with my Rift. Regarding the graphics setting, I can see a big difference between pixel density of 1.0 and up to 2.0/2.5. But the higher the density is, the lower the frames will be. There comes my question: When running in high graphic details and 2.0 density, my system drops down to 45 instead of 90. But I find it really hard to notice any difference between 45 and 90 FPS. So I am thinking of keeping higher detail settings with "lower" frames @45. What difference is between 90 and 45? I set up a training mission at an airport nearby a big city with multiple planes flying by (also tanks driving by). The frame headroom is at somewhat like -60/-70% with 45 FPS, but the planes flyby quit smoothely... What is your experience / opinion?
  18. Thank you very much Thompson - that has solved the problem. I had it installed in my former system, but just have forgotten this fix. Too many things to remember when setting up everthing new. I will write a checklist... :book:
  19. I used CPU-Z as a stress test. Using Prime95 max heat I come up to 70/71° - should be ok, or?
  20. OK, now I could reproduce the same failure, after changing everything step by step to where it has been. In DCS 1.5 I am loosing the comms menu (and therefore cannot use VA) as soon as I install the mod VAC ATC (v1.0 by whartsell). Since it is the only "must have" mod, I am asking for a solution or if the games also runs without it (what it looks like by now). Cheers and good night, Monty
  21. A new installation has done the job. VA now runs fine also in 1.5. Now the fun may be begin... :pilotfly:
  22. OK gentlemen - as promised I post some pics of my new tiny beauty... Since I haven´t set up a new pc for almost 10 years, I luckily remembered a lot from earlier days. But the very small Thermatake V1 case has been a real challengen in terms of getting everything installed. But it work out... The H90 WC runs in a Push-Pull-config with two additional fans on the backside to help getting the warm air outside the case. Watercooling runs fine, CPU @4.8 Mhz comes up to 67° under stress test. But the real beauty is the new Oculus Rift. It´s another dimension of gaming... Cheers, Monty
  23. Thx Greyman - I have already made the keyboard fix for foreign languages and it runs in DCS2.0. So the keyboard is not the issue... I am reinstalling 1.5 now, since it is working in 2.0. I hope this fixes it.
  24. I moved my problem to where it belongs... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3023147#post3023147
  25. By the way: "Start mission" does work with VA. I find myself now in paused function and have to unpause it manually - that is different to my former system. But VA looks like recognizing my commands, still having no comm menu to work with. When I hit the comm key "#" it looks like something happens in the background. If I hit the F-buttons, it takes 2-3 hit to get to the external view. So it seems, that the comm menu is somewhere activ, since only after multiple F-commands the external views are available. EDIT: In DCS 2.0 Nevada I can see the comm menu... EDIT2: So in DCS 2.0 everything works fine, also Voiceattack. My problem is therefore only in 1.5 with the missing comms menu
