hmmm,,, that is of course assuming you have a Rift, but good idea just the same. I am also trying to find good research regarding GPU upgrade, trying to figure out if I should goto 2080 ti Hybrid or will the 1080ti Hybrid be ok? Price is a serious consideration for the differences

Thank you sir, I was not aware that there were "VR Goggles" vs "HMD", I thought they were all pretty much the same outside of some manufacturing differences.Thanks for the advise regarding the different options for me.

in the past year, i have read alot, and came up short with a conclusion, its just information overload. I will say this is probably one of the better threads I have read thru because its short and seemingly to the point. That is why Iam finally making a post. I realize its an older thread. I am about to pull the trigger on something. Thinking of staying with my current GPU and getting a Rift or buying a 1080ti Hybrid and MAYBE a headset a notch better than Rift, whatever that is these days? I wear glasses, that is a big factor, and fly Helicopters from my desktop, not looking for any other games really. Would love to do without those remote sensors too.

about 16 months back when I was building this rig, I was struggling with DCS microstutters and some odd sound issues. I installed process Lasso and after alot of experimenting, FOR ME, i dedicated Cores 4 thu 7 for DCS as I understood that DCS only uses 1 core but perhaps a 2nd for Audio? Anywho, it resolved my microstuttering and sound issue. I also did some benchmarking to decide if I should or should not use Hyper threading. Using Hyperthreading for me seemed better, so I stuck with that. One thing I think i noticed with process Lasso, it seems like once I create a profile, I have to load it every time I boot up my PC, otherwise its on some some default setting? Good luck sir!

Thanks,, oh man,,, the opinions out there are ENDLESS! So difficult to decide. Since you mentioned glasses, are they really that close to the lens that it may be a concern? im gonna have a hard sell with the wife as it is,,, to buy special lenses is gonna be a BIG issue. I also watched a video that shows a guy with glasses putting on the Rift and the Samsung,,, what a difference,,, the Samsung was hands down the winner,,, but there are SO MANY more differences. This is going to be difficult. I want clarity in the cockpit (who doesn't, right). Thanks,,,

Have you tested any other headsets besides Rift? Thats my next step, trying to figure out which one. Comfort is a major concern, especially if I have to use my glasses.

Nice post, I have been on the fence a long time,,, seems like its time to jump. In reality, I have NO DEPTH PERCEPTION. I dont know if it will be as immersive for me? Time to smooth over the wife to find out. Glad you are very happy sir!

Hmmm,, so it appears that I am setting the wrong radio, I was setting "Nav-Com"? If I set the VHF-Comm, turn the power on, I still dont get any results? Forgive my ignorance, but what is "DF"?

So I just went back in the server to run a quick test and realized tha tone on the Freq's I was going to test was "127.5" Ummmm,,, I dont see any radio in that freq range?

I was unable to physically find a FARP on the 104th server by just using the Grid "LM07", so the briefing offers a frequency of "126.0" (signal broadcasted by troops on ground). I was unable to figure out how to use this. Most of the tutorials I have watched on Youtube focus on beacons. Can anyone please point me in the direction of instructions? My Google searches over the last 2 days have proved unsuccessful. Many thanks,

True, but Im flying helos right now, and the grass and all are pretty nice to have when your that low, I see yours is shut off completely. Just make me wonder how well off I really would be. Then there is the "Which Headset", especially if I wear glasses.
