  1. Just pre-ordered it.
  2. Just received my email stating the product shipped. My order is #1710. Hope this helps those of you that are still waiting.
  3. Today I took the F-14 on a long vertical climb. As I pulled into the vertical and climbed straight up, all of the heading instruments began spinning as though I were in a flat spin. I never lost control and climbed up to about 38,000 feet. Continued flying normally but the instruments never corrected themselves. I had to exit the aircraft and start again. This happened in a multiplayer session. Thanks!
  4. Jane's F/A-18 had a popup meatball inside the cockpit you could turn on and off. You can see it in this video: at around the 2:36 mark. I think something like this would work well. Matt Wagner worked on Jane's F/A-18 so he certainly knows about this feature.
  5. So I've figured out how to show the 2 DDIs on my touch screen. I would also like to export the UFC to the touchscreen as well. Is this possible? If so, where can I find a list of all the exportable displays for the F-18 and how can I export them? Thanks!
  6. Recommendation I would STRONGLY recommend that you remove any duplicate emails from the list before you select your prize winners in order to insure everyone gets a fair chance to win the prize. Either that, or let us know specifically if duplicate entries are accepted.
  7. I've been very curious about this one: Does the mustang really flutter and roll upside down when you do a fighter pilots 180? (ie roll the aircraft 90 degrees and pull hard on the stick). If so how much backward pressure can be applied before that happens?
  8. Oh it's not you. The anxiety is certainly there. It's the reason I posted in the first place. Just shows how demanding this community can be. So what if it comes out in 2014? So what if it comes out in 2015? The important thing is that it will be out eventually. I'm happy just to hear officially from Wags about the F/A-18C. For a while there was a lot of speculation but no concrete answers. They will work on it. It will be high fidelity. Awesome news! In the meantime I will continue to support ED where it counts ($$$$) and purchase all released products to ensure that day finally comes. :)
  9. The demand for the next high fidelity fighter may not be as significant as you think. Remember that the community on these forums represents a small portion of the ED customer base. The sales numbers are the ones that give a true representation of EDs customer base. And according to Wags, the majority of the customer base are FC players. This is their "star" product. It's the one that keeps ED funded so they can provide better fidelity products. We as a community need to understand and support this. That's the point of my original post. I want the F/A-18C as much as anyone on these forums believe me. But I'm not going to complain that its not the next ED project. Instead I'm going to support their decision (a very sound business one) and purchase these products.
  10. Although I'm not very outspoken, I've been a part of the flight sim community for a very long time. I know Wags and a few guys from the Baltimore team that built Jane's F/A-18 and Jane's F-15. I was an original team member of Team Super Hornet. I'm a developer myself. Over the years one thing remains constant: Simmers on forums are always demanding more and more, and always threatening to not spend their money if they don't get what they want. It's sad really. There was a time not too long ago when it looked like flight sims were going to be a thing of the past. How quick the community forgets. Me personally, I will buy every module that ED comes out with. Period. Why? Simple. Because I do want a high fidelity F/A-18C. The last thing I want to see is ED close it's doors and go from waiting 2 years for my aircraft of choice, to never seeing it at all. If you really want to fly your F/A-18C, or your HF F-15C, or (insert your aircraft here) then stop threatening and start spending, and ensure ED will have the funds needed to stay in business and build your (insert your aircraft here). Just my 2 cents....
  11. Thank you ED Just wanted to say thank you to Wags and the ED team for all the hard work they've put into DCS. The decision to go with the DCS World model and allow 3rd party developers access to DCS was a great one. One that is already bearing fruit with DCS: Huey. I would also like to thank them for keeping us all more informed with the new updates. DCS F15C and DCS Su27 are exciting modules that I look forward to. Personally I'm looking forward to both the F/A-18C and E models. It's just a matter of time before we see both of those. The future looks very bright for us sim fans! Thanks ED! Datajack
  12. Another Joystick Controller I used 2 if these to rewire my Suncom F15 Talon and SFS Throttle: http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=180
  13. Are you using any voice control software? If so it could be something you're saying is sending a command to the sim that causes an engine shutdown. I had a similar problem some time back and had to go into the voice command profile and correct the issue. Probably not your issue but I thought I'd mention it and cover all the bases.
  14. Multirole Any true multirole fighter that's NOT the F16. My personal preference would be any version of the F/A-18 with carrier ops.
  15. Yeah that's what I've been doing since I figured that one out. I haven't had any issues since.
  16. Evo, I ran into the same problems. Until I found a tactic that works. You have 2 choices. First, you can scream in, get launched on, break to your 3-9 line, dive and pop chaff. You should be able to avoid the missiles this way. Send in your wingmen. Once they are fully engaged you can turn back in. Or you can send in your wingmen early, turn away let them engage and then turn back in. You'll find in most cases that your wingmen will get most of the kills. By the time you're in range to re-engage, most of the bandits will be on fire. If you try and kill them all yourself, you're not going to succeed most of the time. Although not as much fun as killing them all yourself, this tactic will get you through the campaign. :)
  17. I was only using the HUD. What I did was circle the base once to let my wingman join up and then just followed the HUD cross.
  18. Totally agree with you Ven. Getting 4 SU-27 kills is not realistic at all, but man it's fun! Fun doesn't always equal realistic though I get that. And by no means am I saying I'm not having fun. I'm having a great time. I'm enjoying FC2 and I'm looking forward to flying the remaining campaigns, and hopefully many user made campaigns will start popping up. Thanks to the ED team for not only keeping combat flight sims alive, but for going above and beyond with their final products. Ka-50 set a new bar that I don't think any other company will ever be able to match considering the complexity, time and cost of building a flight simulator of this caliber. Can't wait for DCS-(fill in the blank). I will own and play them all. :)
  19. I'm on mission 6 of the campaign and Ven is right about the AI. I will usually charge ahead and get fired on multiple times from long range. At this point I send in my wingmen in while I notch and I'm sure the missiles have gone ballistic. Then I re-engage. Usually by the time I'm in range, my wingmen have already taken out most (if not all of my targets). Keep in mind there's a also a pretty significant delay between the time you issue an order to your wingmen and the time they actually carry it out. So make sure you give them ample time before you react after issuing a command. This tactic works very well, although I must say it does take away from the overall fun factor, as its nice to be able to actually shoot something down every once in a while instead of letting my wingmen have all the fun, but in the end you will get the all important mission complete message. :)
  20. Gotcha. I've completed up to mission 5 in the campaign so far. I did notice this behavior in either mission 4 or 5 I don't remember now (I think it was 4). I do remember taking off and turning away from WP2 to circle the base and give my flight a chance to rejoin, and while turning back into the waypoint to get going it happened again. Again, thanks for your help and quick replies.
  21. Oh good I guess that means you are able to replicate this too? I'm guessing this is a bug? Man I'm glad for once it wasn't me! LOL.
  22. Okay I found the problem. I tried this a few times and it always happens. As I'm approaching WP2 (following the WP cross on the HUD), at about 7 miles to the WP, the cross shifts all the way to the left of the screen. Not paying attention to the actual distance left to WP2, I simply assumed I had reached the WP and the avionics had switched me to WP3. So of course I would turn it would throw me off. Once I realized I hadn't actually arrived, I simply ignored the WP cross, stayed on course, and eventually after about a minute the WP Cross "corrected" itself. I received the check in message from AWACs and the mission continued as normal. Not sure if this issue with the WP Cross is by design or not, but at least I now know it's behavior and can adjust accordingly.
  23. So I have to use the ETA and the clock. Man that's a lot of manual work to have to calculate what my airspeed needs to be to arrive "on time", especially if I can fail the mission if I don't get there on time. I guess I'll have to set up some missions in the editor to practice doing this. :( Also, how do you check in with AWACS? I tried that. I opened the AWACs comm menu and didn't see any command for checking in or out. I'll check out the TrackIR Z. Where do I set that up? In the controls menu?
  24. I've moved on to mission #3. The first couple of times I tried it I got mission failures because I didn't make the CAP waypoint on time. Is there anything in the avionics to help with this? See that the hud in nav mode gives you the time when you will arrive at the waypoint, but it's a bit tedious to have to do that manually, and the clock in the cockpit is a bit hard to read (I have a track IR 4 and I can't seem to zoom in to the instruments like I was able to in FC1 (is this correctable?). I remember in other sims the avionics "knew" what time you were supposed to arrive at a waypoint and would show you how "early" or "late" you were at any given time. I think something like this is a must (if it's not already there), especially if you're going to build your campaign missions to be so strict (which personally I find pretty annoying). Anyways, any help is appreciated.
  25. Okay it worked. Not sure what was different this time, except I didn't land. I just circled until the C-17 gave me the taxi message. I preceded to my airbase and got mission complete on touchdown. Thank you for all your help. I can finally move on to mission #3!
