  1. I flew the first mission last night and love the UK radio chatter that pops up on the right side of the screen but was thrown by the US radio chatter that kept appearing on the left of the screen, using modern day acronyms like BRAA and Bullseye etc. While that suits the A-10C era, it is wildly out of place in 1940 Normandy. Q. Can I switch the modern radio off and just keep the campaign radio communication?
  2. Thanks for your tips. I tried again last night, with High settings and it worked much better. A couple of questions about the first mission though... 1. Am I the leader? I tried using the radio (B and D) to notify the airfield and my team but nothing happens. 2. I flew for maybe 20-30 minutes about 60% of the route and nothing happened except flak, is that right? Does it get more interesting? The Normandy map is not the best for sight seeing. 3. The mission says take off, climb to 3000ft, wait for the others to take-off, then climb to 10,000ft, then descend (almost immediately) to look for ground units, but I didn't see anything. What altitude am I supposed to fly at and what should I be doing? Is the first mission just a 'get used to flying in formation' mission or am I missing something? Apologies if I'm doing something wrong but I got so bored after flying for 20-30 minutes without anything happening, that I quit the mission. Thanks. Toby
  3. Thanks BuzZoo, I have read the manual but it still appears that a clear line is missing. How are you supposed to naviagte at night without a 'glow' line to follow? It's hard enough to see that dark needle during the day.. Below are pictures of a real P.8.M for reference, look at the bright white 'glow' line at North adn 30' respectively. Unless I'm mistaken, that's the lubber line. On our version, there are no 'glow' markings, which makes it hard to navigate. Thanks for the RTFM tip, at least I got the model correct now.
  4. that is not a lubber line, that is a lucky coincidence.
  5. yes, it is fixed and shows your heading when you align the T over the +
  6. If you want to see the real deal, watch Grim Reaper's video , he was able to get access to the real Spitfire's at Duxford. Regarding the colour of the armoured glass, there's a great discussion at ATAG here with links to various photos, which are all different. As Flying Legends have their own Spitfire's and Eagle Dynamics had access to them, I have no reason to doubt the colour in DCS. I think that the problem comes from how 2.5 shows colour and textures in the new engine. The lighting seems to have a few issues currently.
  7. You align the T over the + and the lubber line shows your current heading, without it, the compass is useless.
  8. I took this picture at Duxford in the same Spitfire for tint colour reference.
  9. Bump - can anyone comment on this or am I the only person who wants to navigate in the Spitfire?

  11. I really hope that this gets looked into in more detail, I think this might also be connected to the sudden changes of lighting on the ground textures too, dependant on your altitude. I tried to explain that in this post before finding this one and this one. Since 2.5, flying in DCS is not as immersive as it has been previously, as you're being distracted by unexpected and unnatural changes of light, shadow and colour that were not there before the switch to 2.5.
  12. I don't have any screenshots or videos, maybe someone else does, but before 2.5, I have never had this problem before. When close to the ground the brightness of the ground textures suddenly changes between bright/dark, bright/dark. It is almost like a switching on/off of differently lit ground textures. The glass tint also changes too strongly according to what it is overlaying. If I fly at a 90' angle over an autumn forest with the forest on the left half of my windscreen and the sky on the right, the tinted glass is black over the forest and clear over the sky and in reality, this effect would not be so strong.
  13. They were Spanish Hispano HA-112's I think.
  14. I went to the Flying Legends airshow on Saturday and it was spectacular. Spitfires, Corsairs, Bearcat, Curtiss Hawk, P-40C and P-40F, Sea Fury, Fury ISS, Blenheim IF, Hurricanes, C-47A, Beech 18s, Jungmann, Buchons, B-17, P-47, P-51, F-35 Lightning II, C-53, FM-2 Wildcat, P-38 Lightning, B-25 Mitchell, F4U Corsair, DC-6 and then a Balbo at the end with nearly all of the above flying overhead in formation.. :helpsmilie: Some photos, sorry they're not the best, I wasn't there to take photos..
  15. I have been waiting for so long to fly this mission Bunyap, the Spitfire is my favourite plane bar none. When I load the first mission, everything slows right down and if I pan left and right with Track-IR, major stutters. I don't know what could be wrong because everything else runs fine.
  16. I run DCS on High with no problem. I cannot run the Epsom Campaign without massive lag and stuttering in the latest DCS 2.5.x release. I tried the F10 option but nothing changed. Q. What can I do to make this playable without switching everything to Low?
  17. @VKB Europe - When will you have stock of the Gunfighter desktop with MCG Pro grip, I don't care in RU or EN version? Thank you.
  18. With the Spitfire now out of Early Access, is the P11 compass going to get a lubber line so that we can navigate with it and use it to set the correct heading before take-off? Refer to this image of a real P11 and the (fixed) lubber line at 340'. - I originally posted a reply to a two year old post here about this in the Bugs section but I think that's been forgotten and hope that this request might get a response here.
  19. After some good advice and help from The Air Combat Tutorial Library, I am actually landing more often than crashing, so I'm reposting this in case anyone else is still wondering why they still can't land the Spitfire without crashing, unless it's just me.. 1. Fly a curved approach and not a straight in approach 2. Set all curves to 0, apart from Pitch, which is set to 20 3. Tap the brakes on landing, dance on the rudders, pull the stick full back and don't stop tapping and dancing until you stop
  20. With the Spitfire now out of Early Access, is the P8M compass going to get a lubber line so that we can actually navigate with it and use it to set the correct heading before take-off? Refer to this image of a real P8M - the lubber line is at 340' in this image. http://www.chevascoconnections.com/communities/7/004/012/038/147/images/4616090423.jpg
  21. As a fan of flight simulation and video games, I wanted to bring this Kickstarter to your attention. It's a fun looking arcade game, in the same style as Ace Combat and H.A.W.X., it's not a simulator but it looks a lot of fun and the Kickstarter is ending in 6 days.. 22. BBQ, it would be magnificent if you find a way to make this campaign work in 2.5. Nothing comes close to this. Thanks.
  23. Fixed for 2.5? Has this campaign been fixed? Does it work correctly in 2.5? Can an english speaker understand it? Interested to get this and the Albatross in the sale. Thanks
  24. Not sure what link you clicked but the link in my signature will take you to a page with all of my mods.. Try this > https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/86362/
  25. First post updated with dropbox download link for edited textures for black cockpit only. Have fun.
