Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
I wonder why some airfields have that problem. I guess it's all part of using a program that's still in Alpha. :D I haven't installed mods on this version of DCS nor did I mess with any of the files. :smilewink: I don't like doing that on any game except for the Elder Scrolls and Civilization games. :P It's a must on those two. :P The 27ET was already available to me I just needed to make a new payload. :smilewink:it that's not normal. -
Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
Good call. I moved the Mig to Nells and the movement is still there but nowhere near as bad. :D Thanks for the help, everyone. :D I'll avoid putting the planes on that airfield until it's corrected. -
I noticed in DCS 2.1 whenever I align the INS it always points south. When I skip to the next waypoint it continues to point south or moves just slightly. In 1.5.6 the INS aligns ok. But 2.1 is off. I'm having problems with other planes too in 2.1, so I don't know if the problem is with 2.1, my installation of DCS, or just that 2.1 had changes that the 3rd party developers haven't noticed or addressed yet. Is anyone else having this issue too? If not then I can only assume it's my installation. I already repaired my DCS 2.1 installation but the issue remains. Additional Information: In DCS 1.5.6 when I land the M2000C at a different airfield than where I took off from, refuel, and then realign the INS it does the same thing.

Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
Yup, that was the first thing I did when it first started and the Mig still pulls. When I load a plane I always put the same weapons on both wings just to avoid that situation. :smilewink: Here's the name of the file: T.Flight Stick X {C2B633B0-26BB-11e7-8001-444553540000}.diff.lua it is a .lua but as you can see it also says .diff in front. Is that the problem? :( -
Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
The only USB controller I have is the stick. I unplugged it and put it back. I even just used the keyboard directly and I still have the same problem. I didn't see a left or right toe break in the control options even under axis controls. I'm beginning to think I should give up on flying the 29S and the 33 and just stick with the 29A and the 27. :( -
Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
I tried setting the deadzones for the rudder pedals and it didn't change anything. They're still pulling at the same rate as they did when the deadzones were at 0. I also tried repairing DCS and it didn't do any good. I wonder why I'm having this problem while everyone else seem to be fine. Here's a track that shows the problem I'm having. I can't get the control indicator to come up but you can see the rudders moving as I try to keep the Mig moving straight. First the Mig will turn right sharply just as the engines reach power enough to move the plane. Then you'll see the Mig will constantly move to the left and I need to make rudder adjustments every second or 2 just to keep it from going off the taxi way. When I come to a stop on the runway you'll see the plane wants to make a right turn as I stop. Once I start moving again it'll try to go right again even though I have the rudders moving it to the left and while the plane goes down the runway I have to, again, move the rudder to the left every second or 2 to keep it from going off the runway. Once I'm in the air I don't need to make any adjustments. The problem is only on the ground. Hopefully the track will help someone recognize the problem and help me fix it. Mig29S taxi issues.trk -
Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
That affects how your plane flies too right? For me the 29S and 33 fly ok but can't taxi properly. -
Oh, ERs are easy to get away from. :D The 120s.... not so much. :P Well, I was able to dodge one 120.... then got smacked by a second one when I lost site of the F-16. Now that I know I can do it, I just need to practice more wiht the pump and notch. :joystick:

Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
I just tried it. I cleared all the axis for the rudders (stick and keyboard) and opened the controls indicator. The indicator is showing that everything is in the center and even with no keys or stick axis bound to the rudders it's still pulling to the side while taxiing. -
Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
For my Mig-29S and Su-33 both gauges show that it's running and once I'm in the air I'm good. its just taxiing and rolling down the runway that's a problem. I hope I can figure this out. It's made the Mig-29S unflyable starting on the ground and that's my favorite FC3 plane. -
Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
I just took at look at them and everything is exactly the same for all the planes. I don't see any reason why the Mig-29S and Su-33 are having problems rolling while the Mig-29A, G, F-15C, and Su-27 are all moving normally. -
Yeah, terrain masking is the most effective when mountains are available. For how long should I dive before pulling up? I don't want the missile to ram me on the way back up. :P I noticed that the ERs are slightly more responsive... It used to be that I could fire every single one one my Su-27 or 33 at different ranges and miss every time. Now I at least get 1 hit out of 4 fired. The R-77 on the Mig-29S is still the best Russian radar guided missile in my opinion. The only problem for me is that the 29S keeps moving off to the side while taxiing and running down the runway and I can't keep it straight in 2.1 at all.

Su-33 and Mig-29S pulling to the side while taxiing
kelpie replied to kelpie's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
I don't think so since all the other planes work perfectly. Even the Su-33 is great in 1.5.6 but has problems in 2.1. I'd think if it were an input problem with the joystick or keyboard then all the planes would be affected. -
Got it. :smilewink: I need a lot of practice in evasion and dog fighting. Have any more advice or tactics I should practice with? :D Right now I only go against the AI on Average since I'm no where near good enough to go MP or have a better AI opponent.

As with any maneuver it depends on my altitude and terrain I'm over. Anyway, unless I have a mountain I can use as cover (the only way I've been able to avoid getting hit so far against a 120) I try to do the same maneuver as shown in this video (given that I have enough altitude to dive).
-
I hope so. In my experience it's gotten to be that the 120 is automatic death while the 27ER is almost a sure miss. I noticed that 2.1 seems to be worse in this respect than 1.5.6. I flew a Su-33 against an F-16 in 2.1 several times just yesterday. Every time I would fire 4+ 27ERs and get only 1 hit on him while the F-16 would fire only one 120 and I got hit no matter what maneuver I tried or how many chafe I dropped. I know the 120 is technologically better than the 27ER but it seems to be overdone in 2.1.
-
Turning off Deferred shading took care of all my visual problems, although I have not tried night flying yet. In sunny, cloudy, and rainy conditions turning it off help a lot. I am having an issue with the kneeboard though. The only page that comes up is the chafe/flare program. I can't get the map or the longitude/latitude/altitude page to come up, so I can't align the INS.

I noticed a while ago that in 1.5.6 the Mig-29S no longer moves straight ahead while taxiing but will always pull to either the left or the right. The Mig-29A and G are ok as is the Su-27 and the Su-33. I just finished downloading and trying 2.1 and I found the Su-33 will do the same pull while taxiing and the Mig-29S is pulling horribly. I can't even keep the 29S on the runway in 2.1 while taking-off. In both 1.5.6 and 2.1 the planes are ok in the air but if they are on the ground before take-off and after landing they pull. Anyone else notice this?
-
I haven't finished downloading 2.1 yet. But, the tracks for 1.5.6 still won't work. It's really frustrating since I use the tracks to help me figure out where I go wrong on a mission or why my landing gear for the Mig-21 breaks on landing.

For most players, yeah that's very true. :smilewink: But for those, like myself, with either eye problems or who might suffer from seizures then it'll be a big issue. :( Having an option would certainly allow those of us who have those problems a chance to buy and fly this wonderful module. :smilewink: Ah, that's one reason I don't play MP. :D The other is I stink at fighting so I stick with SP mode and get my butt kicked by the AI without getting embarrassed. :P
-
Yeah, I saw a few posts in a different thread where people threw a fit because someone suggested a faster refresh rate for the F-14s HUD. That's why I like the idea of having an option. It gives those who want realism what they like and gives those of us who simply can't view that kind of stuttering what we need so we can enjoy it along with everyone else. It's a good win-win option in my opinion. It'll just mean a little more time coding the option. :smilewink: Sort of like having the VR option. I can't use it for the same reason I can't view flashing or stuttering images, but it gives the option for those who can enjoy it. :D
-
Sounds like an excellent compromise to me. Might take some time in the coding but the module would hit record highs on everyones favorites list I'm sure. :D
-
Thank you for the information. I was really worried about this too since, for medical reasons, I can't watch stuttering or flashing images for more than a few seconds before I start having problems. If it's only going to be a few elements I might be okay. Here's hoping. :smilewink:

I really hope it's that strong in game too. I have to use the autopilot on the Su-33 so that I won't explode on touchdown (and I'm usually pretty nice on the descent too. No idea why I explode). It would be nice to have a carrier based aircraft I can actually do more than just sit and watch the scenery with. :music_whistling:

The Su-27 can be quite difficult at times (especially the need to constantly trim), but it's still a good aircraft. My personal suggestions for using the aircraft: Always use terrain (especially mountains) to "sneak" behind an enemy. Don't go head to head unless you have no choice. First try to use the "O" key (not to be confused with the "0" or zero key), this will allow you to track a targets heat signature instead of using the radar as the enemy won't get an RWR alert. Use the "I" key to activate the radar if they already know you're there. The R-27ER (in my experience) is normally useless. If you have 2 on-board: fire one, wait a second or 2, then fire the second. You might just get a hit that way. The best missile the Su-27 has available (in my opinion) is the R-73 heat seeker. The only good Russian radar guided missile in DCS I've seen is the R-77 but it's only available on the Mig-29S. The only other thing I can say is be prepared to bail out every so often. The engines have a terrible habit of catching on fire after takeoff. The Mig-29 is still able to land with practice but the Su-27 is very hard to even control when this happens. I hope I helped.
