It seems Trev is part of the new online generation that has redefined the English language :D I worked on fishing boats in my youth and we trolled for Barracouta to put in our rock lobster traps. Trolling to us was a painted piece of dowel with a hook screwed to it tied to a cord and trailing behind the boat about 10 meters. Fish would see the lure and chase after it. Watching Wags video I did feel like I wanted to swim faster to catch up to that F-14!

I’d like to add my support for having these available online somewhere, I download them direct to iPhone/iPad then open with iBooks. I realise there’s probably an issue though with handing them out to folks who don’t have the game.

Weekly carrier landing events with plat cam mod and a LSO?
Jar_VFA-113 replied to Chipensaw's topic in Multiplayer
Hi Chipensaw, I’m sure most of the squadrons and air wings listed in the mighty thread you see on here have carrier landing nights. I’d simply pick your favourite squadron and go check them out and see how you go. Plenty to choose from am sure you’ll find someone that’s up to what you’re after. -
Hi Snacko, thanks! The blue arrows are now a redundant feature and no longer required if you use OVGME to install the various views. The two overlay pages you require are automatically loaded as page 1 when you load a view (either VR or monitor). As for FOV sadly no you have to zoom out each time, I never really looked in to changing it though.

Hey guys, everyone should own the Huey! PLAT cam updated for todays patch. LSO mission is much improved and matches our recently released training film in terms of the stack etc. The link is below but the first post is also updated.

Having built a scale model of a landing Super Hornet a few years ago I found that when the gear is weight off wheels the main wheels are canted outwards and appeared to be toed-in. Does this sound right Ace? It appears this straightens out when the gear compresses on the ground? DCS F/A-18 appears to have the cant but I haven’t looked for the toe-in.

Thanks guys, feels really great to finally complete, even better to get such kind feedback! :)

Awesome work guys!

I totally understand Greg’s decision to remove his channel although it’s bad news for all of us that just lost the best source of F/A-18 videos. His popularity had exploded too so it’s a shame as he may have been starting to see some reward for his work/generosity. I can also vouch for the threats, I get all sorts of abusive and threatening messages in YouTube comments but my filters catch them and I just delete them. One guy was claiming that my wearing a flight suit with patches was “stolen valor” and that he had reported me and soon my channel would be removed. Am still excitedly waiting to hear more about this as it gave me a good chuckle. I traced one negative guy back to a DCS squadron that’s flown on our PLAT videos so a quick word to his CO sorted that :D I’m not an important guy like Greg though so don’t have a lot to lose if someone wants to ask me about my geeky channel :). But overwhelming people are mostly positive and nice. It was surprising to me how good people are. I think Nine-Line has done a great job turning the community around and now it seems the bad eggs are in the minority. But as we can see it only takes one or two bad eggs to ruin something great for the rest of us.

I think it healthy for the real guys to get some feedback with regards to the video as it’s obviously popular and a great thing. A lot of people I speak to outside these forums say they stopped watching and were disappointed because they felt like Mover was treating it like a joke and not really paying attention to how amazingly realistic DCS F/A-18C is. I did initially stop watching myself for the same reason but went back later to rewatch the whole thing and he does piece to camera at the end which explains some things. If I could offer one piece of advice to the real pilots who come to fly DCS, we do know it’s not real life and don’t expect you to instantly be able to fly DCS like you do a real jet. Please keep in mind that you guys are already heroes to most of us and we just hope you think what we do is cool too.

This is by far Movers most successful video, over 260,000 views in under a week, I had never heard of him or his books until now. Great promotional tool for both groups even if we would’ve preferred a more positive spin. * EDIT - cheers Nine-Line , haven’t been following that closely. Removed my comment about “he should be thanking DCS”

That’s awesome Raisuli, would love to see some of your pics. Thanks everyone, trust me I re-watch the video and learn more from Greg every time. He did an amazing job explaining things.

Stay tuned, it gets its own video soon ;)

Hey you heard Greg- fully sanctioned! I used to sit around thinking “I wish some guy would dress up in a flight suit and make videos about being in a virtual fighter squadron”. It’s taken 5 years to get to this point ha ha.

Hey everyone thank you very much for the kind feedbacks and comments! They are greatly appreciated by myself and Greg too!
-
Thanks guys, yes I will show your image to Greg Backy and maybe the next video we can fill out some more boxes :)
-
Wow Backy that’s really cool thanks for making that.

Thanks Fitness (and everyone else :) ). You’re an old JF-18 guy, how much does seeing the old bird bring a tear to the eye? We were only supposed to talk for 5-10 minutes, I was riveted for the entire interview, Greg’s amazing!

Cheers Tony. Wags confirmed at the youtube comments the Thrustmaster Hornet stick weapons select switch is as Greg describes in the video.
