  1. Hi, Yes, it has crashed multiple times whilst getting it to work on Win 7. Can firewall settings also cause this? I don't think I opened the requisite ports. I'll try again shortly. Thanks! Best regards, Tango.
  2. What the hell??? Why???? Best regards, Tango.
  3. Sold! I'd want to know more about the other pedals before I laid out that kind of cash. Best regards, Tango.
  4. Do you find there is sufficient movement? @Eddie: Those F-16 pedals look rather good...... :helpsmilie: Best regards, Tango.
  5. Hi, I'm looking for some good yaw pedals. Any recommendations for realistic pedals? Best regards, Tango.
  6. Auto hover is quite useful for turn-to-target mode. Best regards, Tango.
  7. Hi, Try this: For the shortcut, go to compatibility mode, and set: * Disable visual themes * Run as Administrator Worked for me - it is super-smooth like I've never seen before. Disable AA for your graphics card, too. It stutters for me (when SLI enabled for me - was fine under XP), but running at 1600x1200 I don't notice the lack of AA and it is silky smooth, even when AI are dropping flares (used to be a major performance killer). Best regards, Tango.
  8. Wow... Compatibility mode was screwing it (I'd set it when trying to get it to run previously). :( I had set "Disable Desktop Compositing" as a test, which made no difference last time, but I unticked it, and enabled "Run as Administrator" - she is as fluid as I've never seen it before. Even the smoke from flares doesn't drag it down. AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Now to go get some flying done! The UI flickers a bit, but I can live with that. Nice to be back in the air! :D Best regards, Tango.
  9. Interesting... I set App compatibility to "Disable visual themes" and "Run as Administrator" (UAC is disabled via Group Policy) - it now appears to be running... Let me do a thorough test. Best regards, Tango.
  10. Hi, The drivers I'm using are: * Graphics - Vista 169.25 (I can't run newer drivers that include TDR) * Sound - these were downloaded by Win 7 (SB Audigy 1 Platinum) * Let me know what others I need to list Best regards, Tango.
  11. Hi, My system specs: * Intel Core2 Duo E6700 (stock) * 4Gb DDR2 800MHz (stock) * Intel i975X Chipset * 1Gb Asus GeForce 7950GX2 (stock) * Win 7 x64 Pro * DCS:BS Russian Retail DVD Let me start with Version 1.0.0. The UI flickers whenever the screen needs to update. When I click a button, there is a delay of up to a minute before it refreshes. Moving the mouse can force an update and I can see what is going on. It can be slow to react to a mouse click. That affects both full-screen and windowed mode. Once in the sim it is very slow, and stutters quite badly. It is a very poor experience compared to Windows XP. Win 7 FPS are ~25 at best, dropping frequently to 10. Win XP FPS are up at 60 FPS, and is smooth even when maxed out (but does slow slightly when things get heavy but is still very good). Windowed/full-screen doesn't affect this. Version 1.0.1: Simpy put - I can't run it. The UI hangs with a blank window, but the audio is playing. Needless to say I can't do anything. Looking around the forums, it seems DCS:BS has issues on Windows 7. Is there a fix in the works for this? It is really quite serious. I am currently re-installing XP purely to fly DCS:BS. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, Be sure also to align the helicopter before firing. If you are not aligned with the target they will not fire. The circles must be overlapped in the HUD before you can actually fire. Best regards, Tango.
  13. Hi, Could you post these somewhere else? LOF are having e-mail issues and I can't register or recover a previous account. Best regards, Tango.
  14. Hi, The problem was dust in the graphics card, causing it to overheat! It died on me completely last night. I blew it out, and now it is fine! Best regards, Tango.
  15. Hi, A couple of things: * If it is raining, be sure to use the wiper for the Shkval * The laser can start to malfunction if it is used for too long (I'm not sure if it can fail - I think it can). There will be periods it will not fire as it is in the cool-down phase. * Try cycling the system and re-acquiring the target. Do a RESET. This will reset the laser (stop it firing) and will reset the Shkval. Best regards, Tango.
  16. EDIT: I still don't see it... I can understand why a longer shaft would affect the roll reaction, but not the yaw. How is the yaw induced? Best regards, Tango.
  17. Hi, Since the 1.0.1 update, I'm finding that anywhere up to 15 minutes after starting to fly, the graphics start by blacking out once for maybe 0.25 sec, then 30 seconds later, again, then maybe 15 seconds later, followed by a *GRAPHICAL* freeze in the display (and keyboard) for about 1 minute, then the graphics suddenly start updating again, and all is well. During the pause the sound is OK, and the sim itself still keeps running including position updates etc.. so that when the graphics return to normal I've flown as if I would have anyway, etc.. If the engines are in the process of starting when the freeze occurs, they are running at low idle when the display returns. Note that during the actual freeze, the graphics are on the screen but they're just not doing anything. Does anyone see the same behavior? It only occurs with 1.0.1; 1.0.0 is fine. Best regards, Tango.
  18. Hi, I raised this point not long after the initial release of DCS:BS, and never received a satisfactory answer to my query. Starting off on the ground, all controls centered, and trim reset to center position. Take off, pull up the gear, and just accelerate, in a straight line. To keep pointing in a straight line in flight at 250 km/h, it is necessary to either roll right to counteract the yaw, or to add in notable right anti-torque input to keep straight and level. Given the aircraft uses a co-axial rotor system, and all else being symmetrical, I can not understand why this anti-torque input is required. If you attempt to keep the controls neutral (except the forward cyclic input, naturally), the aircraft will start to fly in circles. Does anyone have any actual stick time in a Ka-50 and is able to comment? It seems completely wrong that the aircraft requires corrections when the physics is suggesting it isn't required. The only thing I can think of is that the lower rotor, having a larger diameter shaft, has more overall mass than the upper rotor system, thus has a larger torque reaction compared with the upper rotor, resulting in an overall anti-clockwise procession of the fuselage around the Z axis (as viewed from above) as a result. Can anyone confirm this? It is driving me mad as I can't otherwise see a logical explanation for this. I'd also expect this reaction to be worse at lower speed, as the aircraft doesn't have the benefit of slip stream in which to weathervane, helping with overall heading stability. Best regards, Tango.
  19. Whilst the ground is bumpy, the sim is rediculously sensitive. A slight bounce has the helicopter on its side, breaking the gear etc, even if you descended very gently onto the ground. It is not representitive of ground handling on rough ground at all. Best regards, Tango.
  20. Hi, AFAIK most helis do NOT have negative pitch as this would force the blades into the body of the aircraft and well - you know the rest. You can do it on RC helis, but that is entirely different (shorter blades, and relatively much stiffer). For a (full size) helicopter to be fully aerobatic takes quite a lot of engineering. It's not as simple as it looks. If you think it is easy to rip the blades off the Shark, try aerobatics in a helo not certified for aerobatics. Best regards, Tango.
  21. Seeing as flying into trees is usually a bad thing anyway, is that so bad? If ED could do this it would make a huge difference. You'd have to do it on a per-tree basis (if possible) so clear areas of forest can be descended into. * Begs for this change to the trees * Best regards, Tango.
  22. Hi, Yes. I was also unable to crank the engines - they didn't want to start. Does the track get overwritten? I didn't explicitly save it. If you let me know what I should look for, I'll see if I can find it and will send it over. Best regards, Tango.
  23. I've noticed that the EGTs drop quickly on shutdown. Is this how it is on the real aircraft, or a bug? Best regards, Tango.
  24. Hi, EDIT: Despite the info at LockOnFiles, the fixed mod is not uploaded yet. Best regards, Tango.
  25. Gah! The Mod I had hoped would be available! :D Best regards, Tango.
