I can still hear the two instructor laughing in those F5....
-
So no special worflow to ask stuff to Jester he should work on the radar by himself and is probably just not seeing something?
-
Saw this on the Viggen on the OpenBeta release before the F14 release. Need to see if it reproduces.

Hey guys, I just had time to barely scratch the surface and just enjoyed the flight model actually. Tried quickly the training mission with guns, and after hitting the first plane you can go waypoint 2 where 2 mig 28 are waiting in circles. Jester told me a lot of time to do my pilot shit.... But how the hell can I ask him to do his RIO shit?? :megalol: Indeed I ended up flying straight to where they are... then turning in circles close to the enemy F5, never able to see them while I'm on them on f10 map.... And Jester never find anyone on the radar. I tried to ask him to look straight on the radar and so on.... But I never could find those F5.... So... To sum it up: How are you using Jester so he can find other planes on his damn radar ?? Feeling really dumb not being able to have anyone seen or locked

Hi! It is a new behavior I have since I'd say one or two weeks. Thought it was an issue with a Viggen campaign particular mission but it happens also with F14 missions... Only thing I changed I'm aware of was updating nvidia drivers last week for my 1080GTX. Basically I just fly do my stuff, and when I hit escape/exit it just crashes. Here's the link to one log I saved when it happened on Viggen campaign: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234513 Am I alone with that problem?

Common buddy: we won't tell anyone if you go AB for 0.4 seconds. You probably won't be sent in martial court either. Will the deck crew module simulate the crew members losing their pants in the jetwash?

I don't know if it's linked to DCS beta or Viggen or the scripting issue you seem to have guys, but either in mission 4 (or 5?) of the Viggen campaign Moljnir response, or at the end of the first mission of the Viggen over PG DCE, I finish the mission, exit the mission, and get a DCS crash notification. Pretty frustrating :( Also when bombing the ships of that first DCE mission I have crash script prompts, that I can just ignore by hitting enter :/

Have same kind of stuff happening but can't remember the mission number. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234513 It's the mission with a bridge to destroy. Mission accomplished, back to base, land, exit DCS crashes. But.... Have more crashes than before lately so wonder if it's really linked to the Viggen campain. Had same behaviour yesterday at the end of first mission of the Viggen over PG DCE campaign :(
-
Can't finish that mission: after success I just land and exit and DCS crashes :( Well is it mission 4 or 5? Bridge to destroy and redirected to Batumi as alternate base. Any idea? Can I select next mission manually to go further? Thanks! dcs.log-20190310-104856.zip

And if you take off again I guess it could be usefull to do a runway fix when hitting the reference button when aligned as well?
-
In VR FOV should be right. Try ejecting on the carrier and walk around on the deck :) I'm a picky sim racer about FOV (using triple screen), but for speed sensation and objects dimension I think only VR can solve this.

And if you hit the wrong button on the computer everything can go wrong :D

So basically you can only monitor your wingman OR awacs? That sounds pretty limited for a jet striker?
-
Hey pilots, again probably some stupid question but after reading tons of tutorials I'm still not sure if it's me or if it's not possible: Usually you would always have your flight on a channel, and second channel switched between JTAC/ATC/AWACS ... But as the Viggen only has one radio.... It seems pretty limiting to only listen to my flight OR Awacs for example but not both. Or even more troublesome: how would you do as a wingman: you need to listen to the leader.. so don't have access to Awacs update and expect the leader to relay them to you? Sounds complicated  Guard channel is only emergency and can't be changed in flight right? So it doesn't seem to suit that role well... Thanks for your help!

What is doing Viacom exactly on top of voice attack? Only one profile to handle for all modules?
-
Enjoying the Viggen a lot, really easy to wait for the F14 :)

Qfe was okish as I set it over see before attacking a small flat island. About commanded altitude I'm less sure about that. Where does the commanded altitude come from?
-
Tried again RR and indeed can't shoot spot on... Placing radar cursor on the target, arm unsafe, trigger, it waits a bit of time to release.... and release too late and bombs fall to far behind. Strange.

Online Checklists for the F14 in time for its release!
Oldfox replied to KalAbaddon's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well: that's ultra cool!!!! Starting it up with the checklist on the phone screen sounds really handy! -
By the way, tried quickly the RR mode and was really hard to place a mark on a little tank radar return... I was seeing the tank way better in A2 bscope mode, but apparently you just can't do a radar fix in Bscope? That's sad because it's the most precise picture I had, in A1 resolution is too low for a single target :(

What lead me to a global misunderstanding is that the manual never state that you have to aim for anything in level mode. So to sum it up, I guess in dive and level modes it is actually mandatory to first aim the target then trigger unsafe, and then go level in level mode or continue diving in dive mode. That sounds correct?
-
Well did some tests in level mode and indeed it seems to lock the point you have under the dot once unsafe. Then you can get back to level flight and the cue appears on the horizon so you can keep following it while flying level. But the funny thing is that I couldn’t do a release on a Mx nav point because it seems it’s mandatory to aim what you gonna bomb through the dot sight. And this is not what I understood in the manual , at least for level bombing.
-
Ok but this would mean in level bombing even if target is perfectly marked by Mx point you still would have to point it with the dot sight, which is not the procedure from the manual? But if you are right that is simpler to understand for me with that method :)
-
How is working the radar ranging itself? I don't really get.... It's slaved on the navigation target point or on the dot sight? In level release it would make sense if it was slaved on the target point, but if you aim at a different location using the dot sight then... it would need to change where the radar is looking? Well I'm lost with that plane's systems :p
-
That's also what I can read "between the lines" of the manual. But need to do some tests to get it I guess. Sad that this is not explained in the manual as in the "real life" case you will pretty much never have the target circle over your actual target.... In chuck's guide he even deactivates the radar ranging which seems pretty awkward as it would degrade precision.... and become equivalent to a CCIP bombing using QFE....
