Hi pilots! I am reading again and again the manual about the various bombing methods and the more I read the more lost I am  For me it's really unclear what I am aiming for.... Well for CCIP it's pretty damn clear: set QFE (no radar ranging in this mode right?), target between the two HUD cues, FIRE! BUT, what about level mode release? For example usually you will have a target nav point roughly around let's say an enemy tank, but not just on his roof. So ... How do you aim for the tank itself? Do you have to fix the target point using the radar prior to the attack? Do you just "designate" the target by putting the dot sight on it and hitting arm unsafe? Is the radar ranging on the dot sight? Is it ranging on the target by slaving radar beam? Well I don't really get the details of this mode so I don't get how to use it efficiently. Hope I am clear but I just don't get how you are really "designating" the real target in that kind of mode, this is pretty fuzzy in the manual. The various youtube tutorials are basically bombing over a target point so it doesn't help me much to get the details of this mode... Thanks for the help! edit: To be even clearer, my main comprehension issue is: Manual says"Mode ANF. Target indicator ring on target position" I ask: What if the damn circle isn't over my target? :D

Could not find the corresponding song on apple music even if I found lot of similar style songs. However I found "Fear the Bones (Heatblur F14)" :D
-
Yes it's easier as you know a bit better where the caged missile looks. But I'm usually too close to do this efficiently :/ I would just like to be able to slew it again after each missile launch instead of having it locked immediately once and for all unless I recage it. But not sure it's possible to unlock?
-
Is it possible to slew it again then? I did some tests yesterday and looked like when switching on the next missile, it was just locked on the same target and I was unable to slew it again unless I recage it.... and then I'm lost with where the boreseight is looking up in the sky... Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible to unlock it without re-caging it?

I confirm I can crash now :D
-
Did not try but looks good: DCS UH-1H Assertion and crash when UH-1H main rotor is damaged are fixed.
-
Same here already reported in crash section of the huey. I can crash on the ground, but if I have a tail strike or a rotor separation, it's instant crash to desk 100% of the times. Can't say if it's related to new patch though as I just bought this helo. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3756224#post3756224

Reproduced 100% of the times. If I provoque a tail strike or if too much torque disassemble the rotor : CTD immediatly.

Mmmm so it means that by default the missile will always go for target WP, not just the aircraft bearing? I thought you could quickly shoot two ships by firing at one, reorienting the plane, firing second one, but it would mean you need to refix target WP, or use 2 separate target WP to do so? Unless the "pointing the aircraft" technique is possible by staying in NAV mode like I think I remember it works for other weapons? Sorry this is still a bit fuzzy to me, but I'll soon be an expert :D
-
Thanks for the link! Basically I think I'm doing pretty much exactly what is done in that tutorial. Except at first not setting the waypoint in target mode, which is actually dumb as moving the WP will obviously destroy the navigation system precision..... What is unclear to me is the radar role into this. Is the radar only there to help us finding the ship position and having a correct firing range cue, or is the position we fix in the radar is somehow used by missile guidance?

Hey boys, Just tried the Viggen that I bought to see what it's like to get a heatblur plane, and must admit I love it! Really good immersion, and love the "kinda old but still some impressive advanced features" style of the avionics. And ground radar is gorgeous as well! Had my first try on ships, and bear with me if I need to read the manual more but, when I use those less advanced RB04E missiles, they often just go straight between the ships and miss... First tries I kept the target waypoint in B... And was never hitting.... Then tried to switch to a M type of waypoint and started to have some hits..... But far from 100%. Not even sure this was the reason why I had 0 hits.... ? I try not to use the "grupp" mode as from what is said in the manual it seems it could give some issues depending on ship spread, but I still seem to miss a lot. Is there some trick to kill em all? Other funny stuff: I thought they where fire and forget but if I crash after launch (blackout of the death........) they kinda explode or dive pretty much at the same time my plane crashes... Thanks for your help, this is some hard aircraft to start with "old but advanced" avionics style :D

[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
Oldfox replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
Hey guys, May I ask what are the main differences or common ideas between this campaign and various DCE ones? -
3 Monitor: Sub-Menus appearing on wrong monitor since last update.

Still buggy for me, even if it's a bit different: before I could still select something in the drop down menu appearing on the other screen, now I can't even select something as the submenu disapears when I move my mouse to it :s -

Is the ATC still work in progress in landing mode or am I missing something? When engaging it at full flaps, the throttle reaction time of automatic controller is so slow that this is just unusable. When above on speed it cuts throttle of and you fall like a stone, then goes full throttle again way above on speed and so on and so on. Anyone can use it as it is ? Thanks!

Same problem. Don't know if it's already reported? Can live with it but in some cases it causes some troubles: can't see complete missiles names when arming the aircraft for example.
-
You are probably right I think that's definitely the problem I had! Other thing I had: generating an instant mission ends up with a Hornet facing multiple bogeys with only the gun on board :D Or maybe that's what they call "hard" difficulty level? :p
-
Nope I had the case in the quickstart mission starting right in the air.
-
Hi guys! Curious problem I had yesterday, probably I'm just doing something stupid but tried some quick missions and sometimes when it comes to closer range I'm unable to launch the Fox2s !? Radar lock, but no tone, uncaging does nothing, trigger won't launch the missile.... Of course Master Arm is on because that's usually after spamming some AIM7... Tried to mess with the IR cool switch with no success, and this was my only guess. On some missions where I can shoot the AIM9, I have that switch on OFF by default anyway so not sure it's the problem... Don't have a track unfortunately but will try to save one if it shows up again. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the explanation! Basically I know what that meant, but I'm just lost about how to use/ activate those... Because some have to be selected through stores page, other only activate when uncaging, others are automatic it seems (if lock is broken seems to go in flood if I'm understood correctly). For example is it wise to stay in LOFT at closer range, or should I click on norm in the stores page? What happens if I lock a target but don't hit uncage for the AIM120: it stays in visual on the hud but have a normal behaviour or is it a true maddog launch until active seeker sees the target I'm locking? Is the manual updated for all that stuff by the way? Lot of questions with all those updates :p
-
I think for the AIM120 the uncage sets from visual mode to normal. But I'm also lost between all those HOJ/LOFT/NORM/VISUAL/FLOOD usage.....

Inertia is probably one of the most basic and simplest stuff to simulate actually in rigid body dynamics.... It would require a lot of work from the DCS team to do it wrong indeed :D
