Where can we find this 'dots only' option?

I've not seen any complaints about the 80hz from those that tried it. I was always skeptical of the 90hz claim. Would be nice to have a choice.

Regarding Index, how often in life do things end up being what you hope it would be? There is every chance it could be similar to the Rift S in specs. All we know with 100% certainty is that its got a manual IPD. So although i agree that Oculus are not moving as fast as i would like regarding specs there really is no competition until we know more about the Index. Thats speaking generally not just for sim enthusiasts as we could consider pimax & windows. If windows mr had a better package ie controllers software & tracking the rift S would be toast.

I fixed it. I changed a few things i will list below in case it helps anyone else. Turned off windows treating oculus as a monitor with ctl+num8. Set everything to default in NV 3d options Set profile in bios to xmp Set fan profile to aggressive(must have accidently turned that off at some point) So its now working as it was before. Main problem i still have is i will get intermittent pauses or big drops in frame rate mostly at the start so i will try & fix this next.

No i checked vsync.

Not sure what is going on with DCS but it seem to have taken a nosedive for me regarding performance. Was fairly recently able to run it at 1.6PD & it would hit 45 mostly but look up to the sky would get me 90 fps. I would run ASW in Auto easy enough. Now even at 1.0PD I'm struggling to hit 45 & it seems to lock at 45. My GPU is only up to 60%. turning ASW off makes no difference & it still locks out at 45 & GPU usage stay the same. This is the non steam version but i read steam Timewarp can effect it regardless? But there is no way to turn it off. :huh:

OK i will have a look for that. Performance is really terrible atm & my GPU card is only 50% utilized but struggling to hit 45fps.

I read on another forum that they managed to get it to work by turning off reprojection in steam. Even though steam wasn't even on & DCS was not using steam it was causing it to lock to 45fps. Only problem is its no longer possible to turn off reprojection in steam.

Seems i now have this problem & this used to be fine before but i'm locked to 45fps. I really don't want to run it through steam. The problem with it being locked to 45 when ASw is off is it mean auto ASW is also useless.

OK similar in in DCS maybe its relative to the GPU usage of the game as my GPU is only hitting 75% maybe if it was closer to 100% the DWE.exe would reduce further. Question is why is my GPU usage not higher? Sorry for going off topic.

I noticed something interesting today. I get a GPU spike with Desktop Windows Manager when moving my mouse. Its seems to cause less of a spike up to 6.0% when using Oculus Home & didn't get to try DCS out yet but still not something i'm happy about considering how low on GPU resources you are when in VR.

Also the guy who created ASW confirmed this several times on reddit look for user carlsagan76. As well as Oculus tech support tech support eventually confirmed this.

But ASW 2.0 would not be working in DCS as far as i'm aware, it's not enable to give depth information. And i will say this again, installing the oculus beta is not installing ASW 2.0 its already enabled on 1.36.

Clean installed Oculus & no different with ASW its still very noticeable when its on. So i have now tried everything to get it to work I give up.

I'm not seeing any improvement at all, in fact it may even be worse as ASW was not that noticeable unless flying prop planes, would have to do some back & forth testing to be sure though. Regarding ASW 2.0 you do not need to update to 1.37 as its enabled in 1.36. I think 1.37 has a bug fix that was causing performance issues for some people.

I was hoping Oculus would push out a higher tier pro version early next year but from what i hear that is not going to happen. Alot of hope in Index i just fear it will disappoint many, then i may have to get a Rift S & a Reverb. If Index does nail it with the specs the internet will go into meltdown.

I don't think ASW 2.0 is released yet its not in the latest beta update so maybe it will get a seperate update. Also eagerly waiting the VR performance gains in DCS.

But the original valve prototype had a label indicating they was testing 2 panels one from boe? And JDI. They both make very high resolution panels 1000ppi. I imagine if that is the case will be lucky to get 5fps in DCS.

I'm 59 IPD so i guess the nose gap is no longer an issue.

I wonder how well it will run though? i guess that i would need to upgrade to a 2080ti & they are just silly ££££.

I'm really interested in how well it works in DCS, does it help make the dusk & night gameplay look less shit or make it worse? I imagine the black smudge is better its really bad in my rift.
