How do you know ED doesn't have a contract with the Navy? Are you privy to some top secret inside info here ;) :pilotfly: -

You're right, with a wish list anything goes. :) -

Another F-22 mention, the thread has come around what? It's 102nd circle? -

Scoring system seems overrated to me. You either succeed at a mission objective or fail it, what exactly do the reward of points do?? (Curious). As far back as Super Mario 1 I never really paid any attention to the points. It all depended whether or not I beat the level...I don't think i've ever paid attention to a point system in what...23 years? This is just me though I don't expect everyone to adopt that system (no i never cared about "HIGHEST SCORES" for streetfighter or any arcade game either hehe. Back on topic: Maybe a Christmas miracle will happen and ED will BRIEF us on the future module??? ;) ;) ;) (seriously highly doubt it, but it would be a hollywood stereotyped CHRRRRRRRRISTMAS MIRRRRRACLE of epic proportions for this community.) All us gathered around the ED tree, Producer Matt Wags in his rocking chair rocking gently back and forth with the aircraft manuel held up like a story book. We're all wide eyed face in palms, lets crossed circling the chair ... Matt reads to us... "The startup procedure for INSERT AIRCRAFT NAME HERE begins with....... multirole capabilities...... in A/A radar mode.....A/G radar mode... datalink air born targets.... landing/takeoff speeds..... I'm so lost in my own fiction I doubt I'll ever come back! ±HAPPY HOLIDAYS COMMUNITY AND ED!± -
I'm glad they haven't developed the western method of flash and trash mass market/produce video games like the big American multinational companies. Rise of Flight and DCS series are already proven outstanding products. No doubt SOW will bring a new experience to the WWII arena! :pilotfly:

The KA-50 has never been done, neither has the A-10C...so that point doesn't really hold up :). Also keep in mind they're are LOADS of factors that go into the selection of a module. That said, euro flavor wouldn't be a bad thing :) -

I've not missed the point, this topic has been discussed to death in here and as much as I'd LOVE to see this, I don't see it happening for a LONG time if at all. The fact of the matter (not including development time and resources) most players do not have the time to spend 4 hours plus a day planning, coordinating and executing to the precision required for this type of full scale sim to be successful. WWII Online, isn't a best seller and it allows you to do a LOT. What if you're mobile sam operator is an idiot and goes off to do his own thing, what if 70% of your forces do that? It's hard enough to coordinate in an online environment with LOMAC and Black shark let alone a global simulator. At least with AI ground units they, for the MOST part do what you ask them to do. I don't think the market is ready for this, hence lets make the best possible product for the target niche. Of course this is just my opinion and my logic may not make any sense, but I am almost 100% confident we won't see a full scale high fidelity, multi role digital simulator for 10-15 years at LEAST. Hopefully I'm wrong ;) and I will gladly eat my words if I am. NOTE: There are a TON reasons I can think of having seen many posts on this over the years, just too many to post...i've left a LOT of very valid points out hehe. -

http://www.steelbeasts.com/ let the armored guys do their thing, and our aviation guys do theirs./..:pilotfly: -
Oh I won't surpass DCS that's pretty much a given, but they're not striving for DCS fidelity anyway so that's alright. As long as it's somewhere between LOMAC and DCS I'll be happy, throw a little FALCON in there as well . If anything it will be nice to mix up with the theatre of war. Different planes etc so it doesn't have to compete directly with DCS series, but can be a nice side sim. I will be a little disappointed if it's a Birds of Prey/Apache Air assault type of game, not that there's anything wrong with those titles, just not how I want to spend my harrier or Pucara time. :pilotfly: There is potential here and this potential has a release date (well rough one) :)
-
Jet Thunder's realism level is probably on the minds of almost every single air combat sim player out there. We've all read the press releases on it, but haven't seen anything resembling a "high fidelity" sim from the video's released.. Aerosoft's attachment gives me some confidence, but we'll see.

I wish the poll would have included the F16, I'd be curious to see how the F-18 would do head to head with F-16. -
I know I know,heheh...screenshots are amazing...AMAZING. One day I'll achieve these...ONE day!:joystick:

I'll be sure to let you guys know how it is. I really want to fly that turboprop...I have no idea why. :pilotfly:

I've removed FSX from my HD actually, long story (short of it is I'm on a mac, didn't partition enough space for all my sims). I'm getting a new computer in the new year and will open up that can of worms again...hopefully it should run a BIT better...but I won't have to worry about drive space. :) Who worries about drive space today when 500gigs is like $25 ;).
-
Yes DarkEagle, js4100...unplayable for me :(.
-
Mower makes a valid point. SOME of the more complex larger planes in FSX completely KILLED my FPS, even with everything turned down low. The Large 747's and in particular one Turboprop (i forget the name of the plane now) commercial plane. So much so that they were un-unsable. Reading some reviews people had mentioned a hit in FPS, but never thought my system would completely trash it like that. It's obvious there are people who like FSX and people who don't. It's alright for different things. When comparisons to combat sims like FALCON or DCS series start coming up (FSX has amazing textures rez compared to DCS A-10C blah blah blah) that's when the line gets drawn...for me at least. It's funny with "GAMES" how attached and defensive players get. COD fanboy will hate on ARMA, Falcon fanboy will hate on DCS, DCS fanboy will hate on Falcon. I'm somewhat guilty of it as well, I just find that funny :)

Some news regarding Jet Thunder and it's Jan 2011 release... http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=41424&st=0&p=275285entry275285 Also outlines what airframes are included... Jan 2011 first release (Ground Attack) June 2011 Second release (Air to Air combat) September 2011 third release (the rest) Looks like MP won't be available until the final boxed version is released in September. It's also 50% cheaper if you wait until Sept and buy everything all at once which is a bit backwards I guess, but those who are enthousiastic to try it out (me) will end up paying the additional cost to receive it sooner. ... I'm actually REALLY looking forward to seeing this as I've been following it for freaking YEARS already hehe.

A-10C is the NEW girl who walks into class mid semester. She's pretty, maybe not the prettiest , but she's captured the attention of EVERY SINGLE GUY in class for the next little while. The other pretty girls in class will have to get used to the fact male attention for them is going to take a bit of a dip for awhile ;). Actually it's nothing like that, sim's and women shouldn't be compared I know. ;)

This is a wish list so anything goes, but keep in mind the KA-50 was developed because ED made a trainer for the military and received permissions to sell it commercially. Similar story for the A-10C and possibly for the next DCS module. This ensures enough information is given to ED to help them make the most accurate representation of avionics and systems/FM for that aircraft. Also I can't speak for ED but this is an air combat simulation series, I don't think we'll see tanks modeled to any real level...at least in the next few years. In an ideal world though I would agree with most of your list :) -
WELLLLLLLLLLLLLL WORTH IT!!!! The support this sim is getting from 777 is OUTSTANDING. Very regular patches and constantly improving the over all experience.
-
I actually did the same thing, deleted FSX and all my virtual hanger of...well at least 15 amazing planes, L-39, VRS and P47 A2A with accusim. I never bothered with the ORBX terrain or sky enhacements because my machine struggled to keep up with my high standard of frame rates. I did have a LOAD of fun, but I was always chasing the next plane and spending way too much on higher than FSX priced ad-ons. Some are amazing, others are terrible. I'm sure when I get the new computer it very well could go back on, but I'm curious to see how X-plane 10 turns out...not enough time to sim these days and too many other quality sims to play (Rise of Flight, DCS series and upcoming SOW).

Do you think it will be released 2010? Yes or no.
element1108 replied to Sticky's topic in Chit-Chat
Hey man easy there. WWII planes do NOT suck :joystick: You wanting LGB's and the likes is great, I want that as well, but please NOT to the expense of WWII aviation. A fully simulated WWII sim hasn't yet been done to the level or Rise of Flight or DCS/Falcon. Getting within 200 yards of a plane moving 300 mph with 30-40 other planes in the melee IS VERY exciting. :pilotfly: -

element1108 replied to Sticky's topic in Chit-Chat
I'm not going to hold a developer at ransom because a release date was missed. In the end it's in the players best interest to wait a bit longer than to deal with some seriously troubled software. It only cost the company more money to hold off on release so complaining or putting up a trantrum because release date is missed is a bit silly. That being said, releasing the BETA of A-10C was not only a HUGE surprise for the community to get their feet wet in the A-10, but it bought ED some time and gave them a little cash advance to tweak/perfect the product before release. I'm content for a 2011 release. -
You'll find that with FPS generally, the key is to ignore them or single them out as targets ;). No discredit to you, but it's a shame that people can ruin an otherwise entertaining experience just by being idiots. I've had it happen to me before so I know how you feel.
