I'm not pitching DCS include a transport chopper module in anyway I'm just curious to know how many DCS players would enjoy a logistical role such as troop carrier, supply drops etc in transport type helicopters. If it's something you're interested in, what would be your helicopter of choice and why? It's surprising when I play ARMA 2 how many dedicated troop transports players there are. They literally ferry troops to and from the LZ non stop. Pretty sure it would be something I would enjoy especially with armed escorts.

With all due respect and as much as it would be "cool" I don't think this type of thing will be inserted into any of the DCS modules just because it takes the sim in a different direction. As much as I would love to communicate with S&R and have to wait for a S&R bird to come pick me up once i'm down it's not really paramount to the overall combat experience. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's what I think :).

Shoot that's right man I forgot about that update aspect. Again I don't mean to speculate (although that's what this is I suppose) but general curiosity got the better of me. I was floored when I read wags statement announcing an update for LOMAC. Flaming Cliffs MADE lock on in my opinion, the SU-25T is an outstanding model with great flight dynamics. Just curious to see what they'll bring to the table, excited for the series and the DCS series...they're the only ones I'm counting on these days for the market support. FSX is kaput and fighter ops and jet thunder both seem to be eons from a possible release. I don't know what it is about NEW sims in development...I'm super satisfied with Black Shark, but when I hear A-10 or AH-64A or F-16, MIG 29, SU 33 in the mix my anticipation gets the better of me ;)

I'm REALLY curious as to what ED will bring to the LOMAC table in their announced "update". REALLY curious, the kind of curiosity that's only rivaled by a young child new in the world and to his own existence. I'm not one for speculating, but I'd be curious to what the community thinks ED will include in this "update". Will it be the 1.13 patch? It sound to me from their announcement that it's fairly substantial.

Yeah a lot of cases MP will be a huge HUGE learning ground for you. Cheating to startup isn't a big deal (but it feels great doing it yourself...your wingman won't notice). If you have specific questions feel free to post in here as well, when i'm not playing Black Shark I like to be applying knowledge toward it ;). I don't even really play single player anymore, much nicer to be in a world with other BS addics ;)

http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2214 Purchased this last week and am having a GREAT time with it.

did the fresh install fix the problem with the patch? Fresh install then install patch 1.01??
-
Now that my black shark install is botched I can spend more time playing FSX ;) effing patch b.s...the hotfix didn't seem to fix it either and I'm not in the mood to scroll through threads to find the solution. Bugger me...don't fix what ain't broken

Dodo sim's great, REALLY looking forward to the Huey that's in development now. I still do find a lot of these FSX models VERY expensive...they're on par or more expensive than the actual software the runs it which I find a little rediculous. Unfortunately that doesn't stop me if the model is done well and there are QUITE a few that are just superb. The KA-50 no offense to Alphasim, is NOT one of those models hhehe.

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371670 10 min video (2 parts) of a mission, gives you a better idea of how the gameplay works outside 20 frame edits. two links to special ops mission footage

I don't know if it's mainly about impressing as much as showing a few features of the upcoming game. No game video can truely give a player a sense of the actual gameplay, games are meant to be played not watched. These featurettes are broadcast friendly and meant to appeal to a wide audience from new comers to the dedicated few. You get the picture and they outline the difference between hardcore mode and easier modes, there was a LOT of uproar from the community after E3 that no "hardcore" mode was shown ... because maps and radars and aides are found. Anyway I don't want to defend cause you make a good point and i'm not trying to convince you, I'm just saying it's very difficult to satisfy player credentials in a 3 min video. I would personally rather have them perfect the game than waste time doing up video's. I'll just wait for the demo to see how the gameplay feels/sounds/interacts. I have to say I'm very interested in the development so far. I'm a big fan of these type of games and will be nice to have something similar yet different to play next to ARMA 2. At least until HOG drops then that trumps everything ;)

A little featurette describing hardcore mode for Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising. Looks like the developments really coming along. !

i just flew right through the trees in the Dover mission.

Wonder if this patch applies to the steam version of the game

hehe, I had to make sure not to confuse Iron Eagle with those who have just seen the second movie. The Russians flying f4's hardly, hehe. Yeah that must be dx10 vipe, mine doesn't look anything like that on dx9 damn xp limitations.
-
One of mine as well, Iron eagle 1 was my first fighter jet movie I remember as a kid, probably why. It's been around a long time and is still going strong, air to air and air to ground which makes for great gameplay in a sim.
-
Is that aerosoft's f16 Diveplane?
-
I've wanted a full out military sim (aviation and ground/infantry) for the past 12 years (pretty much since I played my first flight sim)... still nothing in development. I wouldn't call it depressing as much as a wishlist. Each major genre (air, ground/infantry) requires a very different set of paramters. Still hoping one day, but I'm not holding my breath hehe. and yes as Joey said..ARMA 2 BEST played in MP. I'd even go as far as say ONLY way to play is MP ;)....campaign who? What?
-
Yeah much harder to shoot down in simulation mode. Probably is Joey, I know ace combat 6 had a special joystick throttle package, not sure outside of that though.

I've been loosely following the IL-2 Series Birds of Prey development for consoles just out of curiosity. The demo was released for xbox 360 and possibly PS3 yesterday, I blew the dust off my 360 and downloaded the demo to see how it is. I was curious to see how the IL-2 series would transfer to consoles. I must say the graphics are nice, but that's no surprise on a console. There are 3 types of flight models, arcade, realistic and simulation. Arcade has helpers like target cam, icons, target track and UFO settings (speed over 1000km/h level flight) etc. Realistic the flight model is a little more realistic, but has less helpers than arcade. Simulation has no icons, no auto target track and handles roughly the way these planes should have in terms of speed and turning etc. Simulation also cuts out the chase came perspective. I found the game fairly fun, but VERY difficult in simulation mode given the xbox 360 controller. I'm use to joystick/throttle and tracker IR to make dogfighting easier...I miss the tracker IR, you can turn your head around the pit but it's awkward key and difficult to track. The hardest part about simulation mode is the way the plane handles. Given the controllers have such a small range of motion it's very easy to stall out or enter a spin because a small movement on the controller = large scale movement in game. This probably takes getting use to. I personally would have more fun in simulation mode on a PC given the extra gadgets that help out the gameplay, it was fun though in arcade mode and just blowing the snot out of bombers and fighters/armour in a rich looking environment. I doubt this game will have the shelf life that IL-2 series does for PC, but for the HAWKS/ace combat guys out there this will give them a similar package in a WW2 setting. Just curious if anyone out there has played the demo and how they feel about it?
-
dah! I can't believe I missed this! It was a crappy rainy weekend and did nothing but sit inside this would have been perfect! How did you hear of it? I never got an e-mail from Dodo. Oh well, nice screens guys, lukla looks great!

http://www.dodosim.com/ They're working on the Huey for their next model, looking forward to that. I'll have to look up the NVG mod Crazysundog is referring to.

I would LOVE to see a post Falcon F-16 sim. I don't own Falcon 4 so I can't go the open falcon route, it looks super complicated to install. Falcon is great, but 10+ years it's time for a new one. I had hopes for fighter ops a few years ago, but developing in your spare time either ends in vaporware or takes 10+ years to develop. I need to get my F-16 on damnit ;)

Thanks for the poast A.S!
