  1. I think it's safe to assume the fm will be better than arma which in no way claims to be a flight sim. It's first a foremost a ground based combat "sim" with air power thrown in to improve the ground combat "sim".
  2. I'd pay for that in a second. Very helpful, nice work!
  3. Welcome, no doubt you will enjoy it. It's worth the risk as the rewards and an amazing "game/sim" experienc awaits that will last years not weeks/months. The community is patient and willing to help, so look to us for any assistance. Take it slow, practice makes perfect, and as an x52 owner as well, factor in some muscle memory time for any new hotas. If you enjoy it and funds allow, tracker IR is a huge assistance to the sim. Hopefully we'll see you in the air sometime :).
  4. I walked in after my booster shot and saw my dad and his good friend playing this (FS 2.0). Not sure why I remember that moment so clearly, but it WAS the start of my love for flight sims. This and GATO (sub sim) were my first sim experiences (even though very young). I've played pretty much everything under the sun after that point.
  5. A "week" to do the very basic, but purchased beta release and am still learning.
  6. Good news, thanks for the update. Was looking forward to this map since it was first announced.
  7. Wow, these charts are unbelievable! Many MANY thanks for this contribution! + 1's for life. Thanks also to the members of vJaBoG32
  8. Awesome stuff thanks!! +'s
  9. If I ever get an ipad, this app is a must have!
  10. Depends on the flying mood I'm in. I've been flying A-10C more these days simply because the learning curve with the avionics is higher in my opinion. Strangely enough, if I take some time away from the Shark, I come back with more control over it. They're both great sims no doubt, personal preference is key. Helicopter vs fixed wing flying are very different abilities. :)
  11. I recently purchased and installed WIN 7 64 bit(had XP-32 prior) on my MBP and A-10C runs like a dream now. I had a few complications with the 32 bit install and performance wise wasn't as smooth. Agreed, 7 has made all the difference for me. Glad to see it's working nicely for you...and they say mac owners don't know how to game ;).
  12. Wow impact, Infinity looks mind blowing!
  13. Nice, thanks! X series has brought me back into space combat from Xwing/Wing Commander days. The new look is outstanding.
  14. The new patch has A-10C running on my machine like a DREAM! Thanks!
  15. Lol 1 view in 24 hours, nobody likes XPLANE here?? Heheh.
  16. I like the idea of being able to walk around outside the helo has well. Always had a special place for rotary craft.
  17. Interesting article posted over at simhq; http://www.avsim.com/pages/0411/XPlane/10.html Sounds like they're making some interesting improvements with version 10. The cloud math section of that article is a nice way to showcase some of the complexities of doing such "basic" things as clouds in a sim. The full 3D world and removal of simple textures as scenary will be amazing for multi altitude flight I think.
  18. Interested....quite. Thanks for sharring.
  19. I personally don't compare because they offer different things. There's plenty of room for both IMHO.
  20. I don't think it's fair to hold any game in direct competition to the "hype" that's been generated around it. It's probably impossible to live up to it, especially THIS one given the nature and expectations of many in the genre. I have no doubt if it's not 100% on release, it will grow and improve the same way the original IL-2 series did. That's just my two cents anyway :)
  21. Wonder if this is authentic. Not something I'd expect anyone to say on the eve of a massive 6 plus year development release. If it is, sad news, but I really can't blame him. The industry as a whole has changed mostly for the worse. Expectations and costs to do anything are sky high and all the extra work required for flight simulations (that aren't evident in screenshots) at taxing. I wish him the best in whatever decision he has made, but not after a big thanks for his contribution to virtual WW2 aviation.
  22. http://www.ripten.com/2011/03/17/ripten-review-homefront-pc-gavin-b/ I enjoyed reading this "review", I read it simply because of the author. It's more than a review though, it's a bit of a culture shot at the entire FPS genre, PC vs console gaming and a few other relevant gaming issues as a whole. You have to read the entire article (it's a bit long for some of you with tired eyes) but was creative and entertaining as well as informative (telling it like it is type of informative) :)
  23. Great work, they're making excellent progress!
  24. Original score by Hans Zimmer? That's would cost a bucket load no doubt.
