  1. Good point! It could come out that way. Someone from the ED team or a Tester kind of made it seem like AH-64 is 3rd in line, but you may well be correct.
  2. Just personal preference. I have feeling there will be some type of fighter coming in as the fourth one, and the F/A-18 (Super) Hornet is just my sentimental favorite for sims. I love being based on a carrier, and as hard as carrier landings are, I enjoy them. Good chance it will be the F-16 or a MiG instead, but I can hope for the (Super) Hornet until shot down (in flames). Not sure why, aside from putting in more time with the F/A-18 in sims than any other, but I really love that plane. I do think the Apache (hopefully Longbow) will be after the A-10. It would make sense going back to another helicopter after a fixed-wing plane.
  3. A-10 is next. Not my first choice, but I can live with that one. After that, it is a toss up between AH-64 and the F/A-18 (Super) Hornet. Either one is fine by me. Given the choice, I go F/A-18, as we already have a good chopper, and I just don't think of the A-10 as that high-powered fighter for deep strike missions or combat air patrol (and carrier landings, too:joystick:!). Ka-50 Hokum Black Shark (done) A-10 Thunderbolt II (coming soon) --------------------------------------- F/A-18 (Super) Hornet (next-in-line) OR AH-64 (hopefully D) Apache (next-in-line) ...then just vice-versa the non-chosen one for #3, make it #4, and we have serious combat vehicles to choose from! :joystick: :joystick: :joystick: ;):megalol: ;) :joystick: :joystick: :joystick:
  4. Yeah, that is pretty much what happened the first time, though I didn't turn the wheels. I thought I was safely on ground to start lowering collective to "settle" on the ground, thing started pitching wildly out of control. The wheels did it themselves, I just got scared and ejected. This thing is alive, I'm tellling you, alive!
  5. Hmm, interesting. I didn't know that. I was thinking that maybe I jarred loose some hose on the fuel-tank or something, so when I ramped them up they went BOOMED! Obviously that has to be a bug. That is one of the cool thing about Helicopters is their ability to land and take off all over the place.
  6. Honestly, I don't get it. This is the "Shooting Range" mission, and I adjusted it to have the Black Helicopter (#024, of course). I am just trying to practice take-offs and landings in the field. I took off flew to waypoint #1, had 2 wheels down, and the above happened. Then I went RCVR (recover, I adjusted that also), and I got to the 1st waypoing again, using the "route auto-pilot" this time. My auto-hover would not work at all when I got there, so I manually brought her down. I landed, thudded a bit, but from what I saw on F2 view there was no damage to the tires. Still didn't understand why auto-hover was not working. I got scared and decided to go straight back to base. I put my collective up :joystick: to take off, and...BOOOOOM!:bomb: I blew up without leaving the ground. Did I damage it somehow? I got no EKRAN message or beeping from the warning systems. I was bummed, and it made me jump. Now I'm all shaky and stuff inside.
  7. I thought I had touched down, but apparently 2 wheels doesn't cut it. Thing freaked and started leaning all over (ergo blades scattered everywhere), and you can see my parachute in the distance because I ejected...who knows with this thing, it might've blown up on me the way it was acting. Oh, the shame...
  8. Absolutely!!! I think it would be a great idea. Then after having a base file, people can go in and edit commands they have on their joystick. I have a Logitech ExtremePro3D right now (the Saitek X-52 pro is on its way!), and I have 27 mapped commands. I could use this tool-tip file for all others, and rewrite the 27 tooltips needed myself. Very kind offer of you, and I for one would definitely think it is great. Sometimes you need to know...
  9. Very nice!!! Wish I could figure out how to get all of these good skins to work. I would enjoy this one.
  10. I get this now, too. I have tried using the Moose guy's files to have all at once (wouldn't work before that, either. This is driving me crazy. Now I can't seem to get these working. I downloaded all 4 packs I think Moose was talking about; Mitch2 & 3, the DOSAAF/Digital, and his Canadian 4-pack. Only 3 Canadians show up in-game on the list, and the only one I tried did not show up at all (invisible helo problem). Can anyone help? HELP!!! Please, for the love of the COMMIE BASTARD HORSE FOR PRESIDENT, someone help...:cry::cry::cry::cry:
  11. I thought I remembered a person from the ED team saying A-10 is definitely next, and after that it "looked" like the AH-64 would come in. Not definite, but I think he said it is looking that way (which is fine by me!).
  12. No, no, no, that is what a horse does. I know: COMMIE BASTARD HORSE FOR PRESIDENT!!!:megalol::megalol::megalol:
  13. When I saw it for $170 vs. $90, I was thinking that is just too much extra to pay for some nice features (almost double the price). Then, my happy friendly web-site @ GoGamer.com had the X-52 Pro for only $130. I had to go with it; $40 off was just too much to pass it up!
  14. Commie Bastard for PRESIDENT!!!:megalol:
  15. Well said, but respectfully, I would disagree. TV would be fine, it is in virtually all English speaking vernaculars, but AWGTHTGTTA, BBIAB, CWOT, DWISNWID, EG, FTTT, GBY, H, IDC, JAWS, etc., etc. This is where it gets ridiculous from my standpoint. I have, many times, read about something and had an acronym in there that was being used interchangable with a noun, and because I didn't know it, the whole passage was virtually meaningless. There are so many different levels of expertise in these type forums, from the guy flying his first sim ever, to the old man who flew helicopters before anyone had really heard of Vietnam. I understand the use of, and can relate to the need for, acronyms, but I think it is far better to give the reader a chance to be included in the conversation by at least once naming those that aren't really very common at all. Just my opinion, I don't know why it was here, but I had to vent and finally say it. By the way, can you look at the list of those 10 acronyms above and understand them all? I found it on a place called "500 most common Internet acronyms" and randomly chose 1 for the first 10 letters. There were 2 that I knew, and knowing 20% of a language but trying to understand it an be rough.
  16. Um, I kind of already visited these pages, therefore the statement in my post about "reading from the official site." I know what I would choose, I was hoping to get some good feedback on which one was the best in others' opinions! Thanks
  17. It is some kind of bug, and it has been reported. To make it work, you have to press F1 (cockpit) view, then "ESCAPE" (end mission), and then cancel that. Clicking and viewing are now possible with the mouse. There have been a few other threads on this; I for one asked for it to be the default setting. No response, but my fingers are crossed.
  18. Why? Can you give some details of what you know? Thanks!
  19. Dang! If I had realized Saitek was going to steal the show, I would've made seperate categories for X-52 and X-52Pro. Okay, Saitek it is. ^^^As in the above post, anyone have any comments on the difference between the 2, and is the Pro really worth the extra $70? I'm leaning towards Pro, but I think I'll wait until a few owners of them give some feedback. Thanks, again!
  20. Okay, I think I am going Saitek. Is the difference between the X-52Pro and the X-52 really worth the $70 extra dollars? Reading their descriptions ,from the official web pages, they are virtually identical except for some differences in the controllers for the MFD. What makes the Pro so much better, does anyone know? Paying $90 or $160, well, that is a no-brainer...unless the Pro really offers what the X-52 does but vastly improved. X-52 for $90 X-52Pro for $160 Which is the better deal? Does the Pro really have $70 more functionality than the X-52? Any opinions are greatly appreciated!
  21. Excellent, keep the comments coming. Especially if you think the one you have is "head & shoulders above-the-rest," express what you think makes it that! So far the Saitek seems to be the most favorite, with 50% using that so far. I am leaning towards one. If anyone knows/has opinions on the Pro versus the regular X-52, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!
  22. I used to own a CH-product Flight Stick Pro (or something like that, about $90-100), and I enjoyed it a lot. I am using the Logitech Extreme3DPro right now, and it is serviceable, but I am thinking of taking the plunge for a HOTAS set-up. If you own any CH-product, Saitek or Cougar HOTAS, can you let me know what your experience has been and what you have specifically? From the sounds of it, either X-52 or X-52Pro sounds like what I might want. I had the CH-Pro Stick (or whatever it was called) and enjoyed that, but never had their HOTAS set-up. Sentimentally, I could see myself going with them (though I remember their joysticks breaking a lot {what, me get mad and throw it? whoever heard of such a thing}). I really don't know anything about Cougar except I've heard of it and some people on here have talked about it. So, please, let me know what you would recommend and why; what you have and how it has worked; is any one of them REALLY (really, really!) head-and-shoulders above the rest? I would like to stay around $100-125, but if it is (really) worth it, I could go up to the $150. I think that is about how much the X-52Pro costs. Thanks a bunch for your help, I am psyched about getting a HOTAS control system for the first time! I just want to get the best I can for a MAX of about $150. Sunjah
  23. I agree and I did not find anything that seemed like it was adjustable to have this work. Hitting ESCAPE "every time" I go back into the cockpit is not fun. Anyone from the programming team; can this be done by editing the *.lua files somewhere?
  24. I am wondering if anyone knows of a really good site for a descriptive and accurate run-down on how the dual-rotors work for the Ka-50 Hokum. I remember, way back when (probably 20-25 years ago), I watched some program on the early helicopter flights. The first models would go airborne and spin like crazy, until someone figured out the tail-roter was needed to keep the helicopter lined up straight. I remember watching some of those early, beastly inventions, and they really did spin wildly. I remember one which resembled a very large box, with 2x4's used as frames, about 10-12 feet tall maybe, and just a tall, rectangular box with a rotor at the top and a guy sitting in a box with controls down below...pretty funny looking compared to what we have now. It was kind of a cross of this Early Design"]Early Design & this Early Design 2. I understand the basic principles behind helicopter flight; I would just like to find somewhere that explained how the Ka-50's counter-spinning dual-rotors really worked to bring about flight, with visuals, diagrams and a good (thorough, yet understandable) explanation. It just doesn't seem like it should work! I know it's me, because it does, but I'd like to really read up on HOW it works. Thanks!
