  1. Bravo, and well worth the honor. This game is awesome! I was getting mad at it not letting me land without fight me all the way, then I remembered how bad it was to even "take off and hover" 2 short weeks ago. Now I am blewed-ing up people in the famous Tutorial 01, or destroying evil abandoned vehicles (therefore the evil nature of them) with VIKHR's and my guns. Still working on rockets, though. They are rough. I think I like 2 extra gun pods instead. This game rocks! I'm just surprised that no other game sites seem to have heard of it, except SimHQ. By the way, $125 for a tank combat game? Did I really read that correctly? Tank combat just isn't that incredibly fun. Now, if someone came out with a viable, realistic and really fun simulator of say, a Battleship, or maybe the Enterprise (space version, but a sim, not an x-wing game [don't get me wrong, I loved X-Wing/Tie Fighter, etc., but no one has made an actual large scale spaceship sim...Bridge Commander was far too much like X-Wing]) then I might pay $125 for it. For a tank game? I've never heard of a game in my life going over $70-80 max in my life, and that was for super collecter editions. For a tank game?
  2. I respect your decision, and it is yours to make. I hope you do enjoy Steam, but I will stay away from it. I believe I (and several others) quite clearly illustrated with posts as to why we don't want to use Steam. Good post, up until this sentence which seemed thrown in there at the end to finish up with an insult. I did state quite clearly exactly why I choose not to use them.
  3. Here!, here!, Good Chap! Well said!!! :smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass:
  4. Personally, there is no excuse or defending argument about it. I very much dislike (okay, hate!) Steam. The one time I did have a problem, they took their sweet time responding, and then spoke with a "You don't know what you are doing" tone. Such a shame that the greatest game ever (that I have played) is owed to this same company. Not only that, what about people that don't have, or have limited minutes on the Internet. Kind of kicking them while their down, isn't it. I like Valve, I hate Steam (just the idea behind it, actually, but the implementation is not far behind).
  5. Okay, I understand. That stinks that it cuts out at a certain point :cry:. I guess the number of available skins is 24, that is how many I have with the Mitch-pack, DOSAFF/Digital-Camo and the 2 New Years skins (plus the default 10 [or 14, to be more precise...I actually put Russia as having access to USMC Gray {Nice!}, Turkey {Very NICE!!!}, Turkey1 {ok} and Desert 1 {ok}, as well, so I really have 14 default skins). That Canadian Navy one you made, WOW! I think it is my favorite of all the ''user'' made ones I've seen. I like the SAR as well.:D Is there any viability to the idea of switching a few skins? Like, say, Digi-Camo for the Canadian Navy and New Years 2009 for the SAR? Can I just insert the pictures somehow/somewhere (over the rainbow?) so that it thinks it has the Digi-Camo/New Years, but what shows up in-game is Navy/SAR?:joystick: Just a thought...I know in my 3 days of fighting with the inner-workings of a few files, I haven't quite figured it out yet. If possible great, in not, I appreciate the help! :smilewink: ME = (NOT!!!) :smartass: (by the way...AWESOME SKIN! with that Canadian Navy:megalol:)
  6. No, I think it was RCN Moose or something like that. I just know this is driving me bonkers! That Navy one is the most beautiful one I've seen from custom made skins, and the only way to have it now is to disable about 12 other skins. I do love the Black with Yellow stripes a lot, too, but I wish I could fly as a Canadian Navy-Flyboy!
  7. I am having trouble. I can get all skins to show up in my game, just not at the same time. Mr. Moose dude had a set of files that was supposed to make all of them "Play Nice" together. Here's my sitrep: A) Three of the four skin packs will work, names show up in-game, can choose them. One skin pack would not ever show up, until last night. So basically, I now think of it as my default set-up to have it so the three can be used (Mitch pack, DOSAAF, New Years). The names for the Canadian skins show up, but in game I get Inviso helicopter. B) I can install the Canadian Skins pack and then I have the normal 10 or so choices, plus the 4 Canadian ones. The others are completely gone in-game. C) Having all 4 at one time just will not work. I edited files (Ka-50.lua, Ka-50.skins, graphics.cfg, dbcountries.lua) to try and match it up so all 4 would work. I even used the files from Mr. Moose Dude that says all 4 should play nice, but they don't. It is either the Canadian pack OR the other 3. So, if someone can help, you will save me wasting about 4 hours a day (or more) trying to figure it out. I have the Canadian Skins.cdds file where it should be, but at "default" (the 3-packs working), they show up in-game as Inviso helicopters. I have the ka-50 file set to read them as choppers 41, 42, 43 and 44. When they are set as 22, 23, 24 and 25 in the Canadian pack, they work, but not as 41, 42, 43 and 44 in the "default" pack. Am I missing a trigger somewhere? Can anyone make a file that triggers them to be 41, 42, 43 and 44? I have another option. I really, really, really want the Navy one from the Canadian pack. I do not like the Digital Camo one at all. I could easily accept the Navy one showing up in game UNDER the designation of the Digital Camo, but when I fly it is the Navy skin. Again, I've tried editing the Digital Camo skin to have the Navy files, tried renaming the Navy.cdds (well, the whole Canadian one, and also one try to just have Navy files) to Digi-Camo, tried importing Navy.bmp/dds into the Digi-Camo.cdds file. Nothing works. Early on in my experimentation, I wanted to include Turkey1, Turkey, Desert 1 and USMC into choosable skins. Get this, somehow, I made it so when the sim started "in-world," the helicopters would sink right through the ground and explode. All of them, even "Standard" and "Black Shark" skins. Somehow, I made them incorporeal. HA! Still don't know how!?! Anyway, I am tired or experimenting. Bottom line, I would LOVE these Canadian skins in-game. I really want all 4, but if need be I can take the Navy one in place of the Digital-Camo one. There are also two New Years skins, one says 2009 and one doesn't. I would be able to deal with having the Search and Rescue (SAR) Canadian skin in place of one of these (don't care which one, they are the same, save the number "2009"). Any one who feels mercy in their soul, if you know how to help me get all 4 packs working together, or at least get those Canadian Navy and SAR skins in there (in place of Digi-camo and one of the New Years skins), I would really appreciate it. I have decided to stop trying, as I am wasting so much time on it I have barely flown these last 2 or 3 days. Whoever said that they made this incredibly difficult to add new skins, WOW! You weren't kidding!:cry::joystick::megalol::cry::cry:
  8. You are my new hero. This says it all! It's like they have such a great ego that it is, "Play our game, while online, on our terms, or forget it! Support? Open a ticket and maybe, if we feel like it and have a minute, we'll do something." Saddest thing ever is, I think their game Half-Life is probably the best game I have ever played (best, of any game, any platform, any time). I own Half-Life 2, the Orange Box (add-ons 1 & 2, plus Portal) and have still never played it because i find them so obnoxious with their "You must be logged on to us to play!" attitude.
  9. Okay, exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks a bunch!
  10. Anyone?
  11. Does anyone know if Saitek X-52Pro has anything like this? 10 years ago I owned a CH-products Fighterstick and use to draw these out by hand (no where near this well, though). I just ordered the X-52Pro, and I saw CH now has these, does Saitek have ones for their HOTAS system?
  12. How does Track IR 4 work outside the cockpit? I get the 6 degrees of freedom inside the cockpit, and from what I've seen it looks so cool I am thinking of getting one. I don't just stay inside the cockpit, though. These type games offer scenery/shots that are just too beautiful to turn down, so I use F2 view, Arcade-Chase View (F4), Airport View (F11) and others to capture some of this beauty. I was just wondering how exactly Track IR 4 would work when in these other views (probably F2 or Arcade-Chase most often). Is there any functionality? What is it if there is? Does it go dead until you again go to the F1 (cockpit) view? Any help is appreciated! Sunjah
  13. I am right there with you. I asked about a week ago, and no one answered at all. I hope someone does explain it, I have EXACTLY the same sit-rep (situational report) as you do, exactly!
  14. I think I can still live with that. Actually, it will be really interesting to get back into an Apache after flying this Ka-50 from present until the new helicopter module is released. It will be an interesting comparison. I really liked the Ka-50 at first (first week or so), got very frustrated for several days (sooooo touchy, she is!), and now I'm feeling like I'm starting to get the bare minimum basics down. So, I think I am back to liking it. I am really starting to learn how to take-off, fly, and, um, <cough-cough>...<throat clear>...learning how to <cough> land?!?
  15. I do like the current regional theatre. My only complaint at all with it is that there is so much water territory. Considering that this is a helicopter sim, I'd prefer an area with hills, mountains and plains throughout as compared to water. There are plenty of those, it just seems like a lot of the theatre is taken up by {I think} the Black Sea.
  16. This is why I play! I remember the old Microprose game, "Gunship," and I read that manual thoroughly and understood a lot about that sim. I remember once having my rotors damaged, and I had to do an autorotational landing...AND I DID IT, in the heat of battle. If you quizzed me on the procedure, I'd remember 0% except that it was "by-the-book {manual}" as far as auto-rotational landings go. I remember quite specifically, a few seconds after being shot and losing the rotors, staring at the screen and saying to myself, "I know how to do this, it is an autorotational landing I need to perform," and I did even while in the midst of an active battlefield. That was such a rush, I will never forget it, probably about 20 years ago.
  17. Wow, you got me beat. I have take off down decently, I'm trying to learn how to land, and I can use VIKHR and Guns on dummy targets. I am still way behind where you are! Good work!
  18. I went with the Saitek X-52Pro (should be shipping within 24 hourse). I was really thinking it was dumb to pay almost twice the price ($90 vs. $170) for some better functionality in the "feel/endurance/tightness" of the controls. That is what I gathered was the primary difference, aside from color and a little-bit better MFD. I was pretty close to the regular X-52, then I checked GoGamer. They had it for only $130...I jumped on it. A CH Product-stick (without throttle) would be $110 or something. I like CH a lot, but $130 for this setup I could not refuse. Hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll hear a knock, knock, knocking at my front door...:joystick:
  19. I've always thought that was a cool plane. Vertical take off if needed, that is sweet! The F-35 is supposed to have a variant that does that as well; both the Navy and Marines of the USA are buying something like 350 each. It looks like a really cool fighter! F-35 Lightning II {check it out}
  20. I aproach the target field and prepare to take her down, try it in a wheat field this time...mud? HA! Whoever heard of mud in a wheatfield. :joystick: It didn't turn out too well!!! :music_whistling:
  21. Okay, now this is more like it. Waypoint 1, landing #1. Took off, en-route to target field.
  22. Okay, that is just plain strange!
  23. Although I think it is a great idea, a base-template with keyboard commands should come first me thinks. Mabye then edit that with start-up/down procedures.
  24. It was at this moment I realized it's a DANG! good thing I am practicing this "land"-ing thing?!? :captain: :bomb: :shocking: :bounce: :poster_oops:  :ranting:
  25. It was at this moment that I began to get a little bit nervous!
