  1. Okay, I hope I don't get shot for doing this; Dragon, I tried to PM this picture to you but it wouldn't work. I was just messing around (not trying to infringe any copy or rights, mind you!:music_whistling:), and thought how cool that would look as the Box art! What do you think? (and seriously, nobody SHOOT ME, or anything; just playing with graphics editors [though I do think it looks good, Dragon])
  2. Wow! Very nice. I am not sure exactly what is different between all of them, but this one is my favorite. DVD-box cover material, if you ask me!
  3. Hey! When Washington crossed the Deleware River, we were fighting the English at the time, with help from France and Spain. THERE WERE NO RUSSIAN HELICOPTERS IN USE DURING THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT! I could see where your confusion could come from, though, but only French/Spanish ones were used!!!:pilotfly::smartass:
  4. Okay, I must admit that I think you are definitely right. My problem is that this vehicle is so sensitive (and sometimes so twitchy) that against dummy targets I feel like I can take the time to set up a "strafing run" using the rockets. In the heat of combat, though, they really worry me. If I'm in hover, or say I'm hiding and float up over my obstruction with the intent of killing the guys on the other side out in the battle field, I then have to nose (way) down to aim it near them with rockets. Of course, I am then in forward flight, though I don't really want to be charging in there. I know it isn't this way, but it would be soooooo nice to tilt the helicopter enough to shoot (but not have forward movement), or have the pylons tilt just slightly so I could line up good shots. It just kind of seems like a waste of an ammo spot to me (though I'll be the first to admit I need practice with them). I just don't remember unguided rockets being this hard in any of my old Gunship games (Gunship, Longbow, Longbow 2, etc.). Then again, I don't remember having my helicopter do a barrel-role simply because I pulled to the left. Again, I know I need more practice, but this thing is sooooo sensitive...:joystick:
  5. Okay, let's face it, I'm lost on this one. The rotors of the DOSAAF skin are (I think) the default ones (greenish) for the standard paint job, and they look 'not-so-good' with that skin (...and to the author of the skin, you are fantastic, I could not make a skin so nice, the green just doesn't fit with it on the rotor). So, I've come here because I have a favor to ask; Can someone take the rotor from picture #1 and apply it to skin #2? I am sorry to ask for this instead of doing it myself, but I have attempted a few things that ended up quite badly, and I have had to re-install DCS 3 times (4 total, but thankfully from what I understand I only have used up 1 activation). I can't find which file contols the colors of the rotors. If anyone felt up to it, having the red from the Canadian SAR (picture 3), and the gray from the Green + Grey skin (picture 4) would be perfect. The last photo is a quick edit and paste to show how it could look (picture 5). I know it is probably small and simple to do, but I would feel quite comfortable trusting someone who has experience with this "DCS Skin" system. I really don't want to mess my files up again. Anyway, if anyone can do this, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks for your time.:)
  6. I had wished for this, also. Those rockets are just hard to use. I have begun to go with extra maching gun turrets, but am not sure they are better than rockets. I need more practice with the rockets, that's for sure!
  7. No problem! {for any who don't happen to know, he means Antialiasing and Antrisopic filtering}
  8. ...and there's even a fire extinguisher in case the set-up overloads the power supply... ...
  9. Now see, just me, but when I see AA in an aircraft game, I tend to think of Air-to-Air weapons or Anti-Aircraft type weapons. I know, it is just me, but here is another illustration as to why it is quite helpful to actually say (or type, in this case) what you are talking about.
  10. Something told me there was a :wallbash:Chuck Norris reference right around the corner, and sure enough...
  11. You need some repair work on your hood, dude! Thanks for the mission!
  12. Is it the gun that is missing?
  13. Yes, that is the kind I meant. When I flew earlier today, you could barely see what I had on my chopper, maybe wind or somthing. Anyway, I am going back to play with it off (it really got thick sometimes), it seems as though a worthy screenshot has been posted; my mission is done!
  14. The one at their house was Internet Explorer, and that is what I use as well. I knew they'd move this!
  15. I am right there with you, brother!!!:pilotfly:
  16. Yes, they are all checked, but I only get static animations and I have DSL at 6MB for my connection.
  17. If that is a question for me, it isn't so much about start-up as it is that well into missions I have my speed disappear while I am well in forward flight. I am going to check what miguez said, maybe my INU (or heat) switch gets turned off for some reason. I will check next time.
  18. Is there a way to check your activations while NOT using one of them? I think I am good and still have 7, but would like to know how to check. Any ED Team guys, I'd love to hear your answers when you get a chance.
  19. Simply because I don't know where this would go, I am putting it here and hoping for an answer before one of the on-the-ball moderators moves it. I went to a friends house and was checking the forums, and his "smilies" were animated while on this site. I thought I had everything maxed out, but mine are static pictures. How do I enable the animations for smilies?
  20. I have something similiar. Mine work in that they load, but pressing F2 or F1 does nothing; F7 will cycle me through the tanks, etc., and when I manually quit the mission, I get the same error message as above. I have tried with them as *.trk, *.miz and *.miz.trk files. Bummer!
  21. Nice! Hey, it is war, ya' know?!?
  22. Hey Man, just my opinion, but if you really want to fly in "sim" (real) mode eventually, don't go the "arcade-game" route. They are very different beasts, and as another poster on another thread said (I am paraphrasing), "It is best to learn how to fly the sim as a sim and not use extra help, because all that will do it set you up with very bad habits that you will have to unlearn later on." It will be well worth it to you once you have the sim down, and it is not really that hard, just take it a few steps at a time. My first two weeks I couldn't take-off and hover, now I can with pretty much 100% success, and have even learned how to take off straight into forward flight with use of trimmer settings. If you want an arcade chopper game, go with the "game" mode, but it has been my experience that if you want to "sim" it, it doesn't work like a ladder where the first rung is the arcade game. Mine is 100% sim except for outside views (too beautiful to pass up), crash recovery while I am still learning (let's face it, the load times are just painful) and I use "trimmer-reset" (even though it has been said it is not in the real Ka-50). Whichever way you decide to fly, HAVE FUN!, it is an awesome sim/game!
  23. So, is it kind of pointless to download them? I would love some progressive training, so I am very interested in what these are, but it sounds like they are not working too well.
  24. I had a problem the 2nd night I had DCS (my fault) and I just reinstalled. Then, I had a problem with a 3rd party software and had to reinstall twice. Does that mean I have used four of my eight activations? Is there a spot where you can see what you have left? I did all this before I really realized that there was a limit. Basically, I don't see myself changing this computer much at all, so I don't think I will need to reactivate, but I am just curious on how it works. I have read the posts, but am still not completely clear whether mine falls in the "You don't need to uninstall (so no activations used) for a reinstall" or "You used up 4 activations (1 original, 1 my problem, 2 for the 3rd party software)." Help from an ED Team member would be greatly appreciated!
  25. Yes!!!;)
