I agree 110 per cent!

Ich finde WW2 in DCS viel besser als den ganzen modernen Kram und habe auch extra dafür damals in den Kickstarter investiert. Bin begeisterter Dora-Flieger wie onlinetk. Wenn Flugzeuge Bildschirme haben statt Uhren, ist es bei mir schon ziemlich durch, hatte ich in RL genug. Den Eurofighter kaufe ich mir natürlich trotzdem. Schon aus nostalgischen Gründen. Auf Pacific freue ich mich tierisch. Auch wenn ich dann das geniale Kommandogerät der Focke-Wulf gegen die mühselige Bedienung eines Pratt&Whitney R-2800 eintauschen muss.

Ich habe, bevor der JetSeat drauf kam, einfach eine Gartenstuhl-Auflage aus dem Baumarkt auf die Sitzfläche gelegt. Eigentlich eher, um den Sitz selbst zu schonen, aber war dann doch etwas bequemer. Billigste Lösung.

Habe das ganze Boeing-FlightSim-Gestell (einschließlich des Sitzes mit der Aussparung) von Next Level Racing seit zwei Jahren in Betrieb und bin hundertprozentig zufrieden. Allerdings ist auch die JetSeat-Auflage drauf, was die Sitzfläche etwas weicher macht. Ein Schleudersitz in real life ist auch nicht auf Bequemlichkeit gebaut: Eine höhere nachgiebige Sitzfläche wirkt sich beim Ausschuss negativ aus.

I agree. Schleswig-Holstein was called the "unsinkable aircraft carrier" in the Cold War area, as all the main jet bases (Jagel, Eggebek, Leck and Husum) as well as the transporter base Hohn were located north of the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal and therefore difficult to reach for WarPac ground troops. The same goes of course for the Danish bases. The wings located in this area belonged to NATO's AFNORTH (Air Forces Northern Europe) Command and were also responsible to defend the Baltic approaches.

Hab‘ ich auch nicht anders verstanden! Habe ja auch schon darauf hingewiesen, dass ich nur ein eingeschränktes Briefing eines bereits eingeschränkten Briefings erhalten habe (und der Satz „You‘re claimed dead“ von GCI in einem „Red Air“-Flieger lässt ja nun exakt gar keine Rückschlüsse zu. Das in der Waffenschule übliche detaillierte und ewig lange Debriefing habe ich mir damals geschenkt). Daher auch der Vorschlag, einen F-35-Piloten das grob beurteilen zu lassen. Aber ich würde mich für die Idee begeistern, die im Megathread aufgekommen ist: Die Module nach Realitätsnähe zu kategorisieren. 1 wären dann Flieger wie die F-14 und (hoffentlich) die MiG-29, wo alle Dokumentationen tatsächlich offen sind (minus einzelner Subsysteme wie etwa das IFF. Die Russen haben das aus unseren MiG-29 vor dem 3. Oktober 1990 verständlicherweise auch ausgebaut). 2 wären dann Flugzeuge, wo man in Teilen auf Schätz- und Beobachtungswerte angewiesen war. Und 3 wären dann halt Module wie die zu erwartende F-35. Das wäre ehrlich den Kunden gegenüber und jeder weiß genau, was er da kauft.

Aber das wird ED kaum stören. Im F-35-Megathread sind ja auch die (berechtigten) Einwähnde eines Maintenance-Soldaten der USAF, der lange an der F-35 gearbeitet hat, gnadenlos weggebügelt worden.

Na ja, das ist nicht ganz korrekt. Bin immerhin in real life als „Red Air“ im EF schon von einer F-35 simuliert abgeschossen worden. Zählt das auch? Aber mal im Ernst: Wir müssen halt warten, bis das Modul da ist, und dann fragen wir einen der Piloten, die DCS spielen und schon auf F-35 umgeschult sind (siehe meinen Post weiter oben). Das sollte parallel klappen. Der wird natürlich nicht sagen, was da nicht umgesetzt worden ist, aber schon eine Meinung bezüglich der Realitätsferne abgeben.

Aber warten wir doch einfach ab, wie das Modul am Ende aussieht und fragen dann einen real life F-35-Piloten, der auch DCS spielt. Dann haben wir eine realistische Bewertung.

Yep. Wenn man alles für real hält, was so in der Öffentlichkeit kursiert. Die F-35 ist ein Gesamtpaket mit dem Schwerpunkt auf dem, was nicht dokumentiert werden darf. Und jede Simulation wird nur die basics enthalten können, die tatsächlich offen sind. Der Rest wird geraten.

Und da sind wir schon beim ersten Punkt: In der Öffentlichkeit steht die Stealth-Fähigkeit bei der F-35 immer an erster Stelle. Dabei ist das nur ein netter und hilfreicher Nebenaspekt ... weil in der Öffentlichkeit gar nicht bekannt ist, wie das Gesamtpaket aussieht (und es ist auch nicht gewollt, dass das bekannt wird). Und ED ist es auch nicht bekannt. "Common mistake", heißt das im Englischen. Aber Du hast völlig recht: Das krüppelige Modul wird sich gut verkaufen und ED Geld bringen. Dagegen habe ich auch gar nichts. Es ist halt nur in meinen Augen unredlich, so zu tun, als könnte dieses Modul auch nur halbwegs den bisherigen DCS-Standards entsprechen. Das macht mir Sorgen: Dass das jetzt ein Einfalltor wird und alles, wofür DCS an Realitätsnähe steht, so ganz langsam verwässert den Bach runtergeht.

Tut mir leid, aber das mit dem Üben wird nichts. Mehr als ein Krüppelmodul kann DCS nicht liefern, da alles eingestuft ist. Was in den Medien offiziell gezeigt wird, sind nur Bruchstücke der eigentlichen Fähigkeiten und Ausstattung. Ich habe gestern einen für die F-35-Umschulung vorgesehenen Eurofighter-Piloten, mit dem ich auch schon in real life im EF unterwegs war und der ebenfalls DCS spielt, nach seiner Meinung zu diesem geplanten Modul gefragt. Die (zu erwartende) Antwort: "Totaler Quatsch."

Don't You see what the critics mean? We all are sure You will bring the "best possible simulation", no doubt. But "best possible" would be around 35 per cent of the real thing and that's lower the DCS standard considerably. And that is our (the critics) problem: The sacrifice of the standard which makes DCS standing out above other flight sims, for a project which anyone involved in working with the real thing can tell that You cannot get any near of it - that's what our point is. I do like this aircraft very much. Actually, despite all the problems listed in the public it is by far the most sophisticated combat jet in the world - and it looks awesome. (My pic, but "only" made out of an Eurofighter Typhoon): But You won't do this bird justice by creating under the label of DCS a cripple module which is only a shadow of the real thing. Do Yourself a favour, @Wags: Use the manpower working on this one for a project where You can better succeed according to Your standards. Or at least tell the community the truth: That You will deliver them a product which mostly consisted of fantasy and guessing because You need the money it brings. That would be a honest move and could be well accepted.

To confirm my opinion, I asked one of our Luftwaffe Eurofighter weapons instructor pilots who is earmarked for the F-35 and plays DCS as well. His comment to choose the aircraft as DCS module: „Total bull<profanity>.“

I think most of the people here would be glad with around 80 per cent. But a cripple module with max 35 per cent reality destroys the high credibility of DCS. (See my other post.) If that's worth the additional money for You ... Your choice, of course.

Sorry, @NineLine, but the statement that You have enough material to build a full-fidelity F-35 and assume that it halfway comes close to the real aircraft is the most ridiculous sentence I've read for long. Not even the pilots of the plain vanilla neighbour F-16 squadron in the USAF have the full inside knowledge of what the guys in the adjacent F-35 unit can actually do with their birds. It is the most classified aircraft in history, I suppose. What You see officially reveals a maximum of 30 per cent of the capability of the aircraft. Not even enough to basically understand its full mission fundamentals in air warfare. Ever wondered why nations like Switzerland chose the F-35 although it looks that it is not suitable for the mountain environment and the missions of the aircraft it replaces? It is because that all what You can find in official sources is only a fragment of the actual performance. Then a non-F-35 nation's unit, the German Weapons School for its 2021 course got a special clearance from the US and a limited briefing about the capabilities of the bird so that we could work together in a tactical situation with the Dutch F-35s in the final exercise (usually a F-35 pilot has to shut down all his sensors when other aircraft are near). That clearance was renewed for the 2023 weapons instructor course (then we were at least a soon-to-be F-35 nation). From this limited briefing I got an even more limited briefing and I can tell You that what You find officially or in generic videos allows You to recreate only a module which in no way can reach any standard You have set for DCS before. A cripple module. To choose the F-35 will of course bring You money (not from me) and that's okay. But as I assume that You are not fed with highly restricted informations which will give You a jail time if used it would be more honest not to put sand in the eyes of Your customers: Your F-35 will in any case only be a shadow of the real aircraft.

Sehe ich nicht so. DCS lebt für mich von möglichst genauer Nachbildung. Was soll ich mit einem Krüppel-Flieger, bei dem die Defizite die Fähigkeiten weit übersteigen. Aber jeder, wie er mag. Ich halte von dem Projekt überhaupt nichts. Die Arbeit, die da reingesteckt wird, wäre in einem älteren Flugzeug, von dem auch die Details zumindest größtenteils nicht mehr eingestuft sind, besser aufgehoben.

Macht Euch bloß keine Hoffnung auf eine F-35, die in den Fähigkeiten auch nur ansatzweise dem Original ähnelt. Was die wirklich alles kann, dürfen in der US Air Force nicht einmal die Piloten in der mit einem anderen Muster ausgerüsteten Nachbarstaffel wissen. In der Öffentlichkeit ist vielleicht ein Drittel bekannt. Wer daraus ein DCS-Modul machen möchte, baut Murks. Werde ich mir ganz sicher nicht kaufen. Der Eurofighter ist eine andere Hausnummer.
