Seems the T-55, Sherman and M60 dont receive any damage but modern gun! tired with Viper, Hornet and A-10, they are stronger than T-90! A-10CII is using Combat mix, I tested Armor Piercing and SAPHEI with F-18 and F-16, achieved almost same results with min damage of 1% to 3%. (used unlimited weapon to demonstrate the issue ) Tacview-20211007-114352-DCS.zip.acmi Tacview-20211007-115159-DCS.zip.acmi Tacview-20211007-115806-DCS.zip.acmi Tacview-20211007-121501-DCS.zip.acmi

reported CCIP with MK-84 and MK-83 falls short

@BIGNEWY I believe the issue still exists on Hornet at least -
Thanks alot, I got it, so basically AND has higher operand priority compare to OR which make perfect sense

I have simple question, seems I didnt understand the conditions logic in mission editor properly what I do understand from the below trigger is: if time is more than 30 seconds the flag 3000 will initialize in the 2nd trigger once 180 seconds pass from flag 3000 initialization AND either unit ground 1 is alive or ground 2 is alive the condition become true and the action will triggered which in this case show message please correct me if I am wrong, however its clear my assumption is not correct and the message popup immediately without checking for "TIME SINCE FLAG" condition

is there any possibility on releasing different Viper Blocks 30/52 as different module or paid patch (like A10-CII).. in order to get different features (MWS ..) and different weapons (Sparrow, Harpoon, SDB) ...
-
The DCS AJS 37 cant do Air to Air against MiG-21 or MiG-19, or MiG-15... for that matter we can use F-5 in future F-4, and other Cold war era if added to DCS like F-105 ... You might use it as Interceptor but thats not the AJS 37 role (as strike aircraft)! JA 37 was the one built for A/A role with different engine, different maneuverability, different radar ... Although people can use it for Air to Air but forcing to use it as Ait to Air ONLY! probably its not a way for Viggen pilots in DCS and Coldwar server! I myself fly F-5 in A/A mostly and Viggen in A/G mostly in cold war server

is 5/6G (7 is the Max G which hornet can pull) at 500 knots with flares consider as Simple Turn ?
-
as I mentioned earlier, I have a single scenario to make it simplified, the fighter is flying over the manpad area 400 to 450 knots (or even faster 500 to 550) without pre-flaring, the pilot see the launch and start to drop flare and use 5/6G opposite turn maneuver, as I provided more than 10 tacviews 90% is the hit! I am not really sure if it can be a realistic MANPAD's missile performance regarding the tracking and hitting the target!
-
Very good point, the issue is the Fox2 launch from A/C which give initial speed to the missile, while MANPAD launch from ground and doesnt have that kinetic energy, base on wikipedia(which is not proper resource) the max range is 1nmi for Igla-S(SA-24) while in dcs is more than that base on Tacview (1.5nmi and above!), the maximum range as you can compare on other missiles can have very huge differentiation/deviation base on target and/or environment and many other factors ! base on same page there are values regarding maximum target speed, which has deviation ins DCS! Edit: "base on wikipedia(which is not proper resource) the max range is 1nmi for Igla-S(SA-24) while in dcs is more than that base on Tacview (1.5nmi and above!), the maximum range as you can compare on other missiles can have very huge differentiation/deviation base on target and/or environment and many other factors !" my mistake it stated 2000ft!
-
thats right an expected! not many flares and straight and level flight! my concerns is when I am in hornet/viper dropping 10 flares per seconds with wild 5/6 G maneuver to the left and right as I provided the tacviews
-
thanks for explanation, as you can see in the video the missile fired from MANPAD do not fly in ballistic or straight line neither intercepting! in DCS the Manpads intercept! while the missile launch you can see it from the missile trail the missile constantly try to obtain the target, seeking and tracking hence you can see the zigzag missile trail, while in DCS its straight line and intercepting sometimes (flying in lead pursuit)! although after launch I dont see any flare from Mirage!
-
you are explaining the SAM systems setup and tactics! thats not the issue here and out of topic! in any CAS mission the manpads can be anywhere ! I believe the mission designer know how to setup the SAM and IADS ! (or at least they have to know it)
-
Thanks for the video, im aware of it, as it is in the list of shootdown which I provided earlier. However as you can see the mirage is flying straight and level without flaring
-
I dont know why certain user wants to project manpad should be as effective as it is in the current state of dcs, it should be effective for sure against rotary. I provided more than 30 tacviews, if people just spend 15 mins it certainly show how wild the manpads are against jets! That doesnt make sense to me! Ok here in the scenario, as viper/hornet/... pilot, imagine u have certain task, not even bombing, but just fly over, two manpads fire, i drop 10 flares. 2 flares per 0.2 seconds for repetition of 5, repeat this for twice with 5 to 6 G evasive manuver. If i had more time i didnt bother to jettison my entire Countermeasures to evade, but the manpad still hit! And we simulate it as the pilot got surprised. I dont get into discussions as when i fly in uh1 i can defeat it! Thats another topic. Im in doubt of manpad missile heat detection, track and missile trajectory! The flare seems doesnt reduce the hit signature of the jet engines in certain altitudes and conditions! They can shoot even if a jet fly towards to sun! Or heading from sun. The pre-flaring is really effective but then why not the flares after launch?!
-
MK-82 Air can do the job, I am not sure if the US has similar weapon for F-16 Block 50
-
you might be right! but how deadly? thats very vague. deadly against which kind of aircraft? UH-1 flying at 200ft AGL with 80 knots? KA-50 flying at 200ft 200knots? F-86 at 2000ft 300knots? Warthog at 3000ft in the orbit looking for target at 180~200 knots? Harrier at 3000 ft 350knots? Hornet at 3000ft at 550 knots? Viper at 3000ft at 600knots? Viggen at 200ft at 600knots? I dont have doubt on it against rotary or low speed attacker/fighters, Or against fast jet which is flying at straight and level flight without any maneuver! but against fast jet with 5G to 6G and above! maneuvering wildly to the left and right at 500knots drooping dozens of flare and still hit by manpads! its not realistic to me! I am trying to demonstrate how deadly these manpads are compare to SA-13 as it can be most close similar missiles and system in DCS! to me the manpads are deadlier than Strella10 which I believe it shouldnt ! may be I am wrong ! definitely the hornet flares effectiveness reduced after ED introduce the new chaff/flares to hornet, however there wasnt much differences in result compare to Viper and Mirage when I tested it.
-
here are another couple of tacviews which i flew over the SA-13 ( we all know how deadly they are) purposely, clean hornet, fully aware there is SA-13, waited for the launch, definitely when we get 13 on RWR we do not commit, however its much easier to dodge compare to manpads, get confused by flares, barely can stay in maneuver, 70%-80% of success rate to dodge them compare to manpads, while I got shoot down by manpads about 80%-90% exactly opposite number! Both SA-13 and Manpads set to excellent, all are heading to north, the sun is on east.
