PS Hornet pilots become cops F14 pilots do things like decide to hijack a freight train (true story tho they decided last minute not a good idea) -
So I tried the hornet a few weeks ago when it was free. I hated her! Lol she was insanely easy to fly but felt sloooow to me. My VERY FIRST FLIGHT EVER in her I trapped. I still f up trapping in the F14. When I land my F14 I legit feel like some muscled greek god who landed his winged chariot to a slamming stop on an aircraft carrier through steam and gauges and will power. The F18 I felt flew for me and.. it felt weird. I dont know how to explain it the engines felt like toys. It felt like the difference between a pellet gun and shooting yiur first real gun. Or the first time you take a jimmy off and go in with no raincoat. F the hornet! This post brought to you by the Tomcat Gang

I dont want to jump in the back to do it and I barely know how to use the radar. Jester seems to not use IFF and Ive had him call out locked friendliesive also shot 3 f14s down in the past 4 days that were dogfighting for their lives and Id STT them "TARGET! 30 MILES!" "TARGET! 20 MILES" and after a few minutes Id cave and fire. Once to be horrified (it was a black black night) when the target turnes in the tcs and I barely made out the twin exhausts. The other 2 I never even was close enough to Viz ID. Please though or even a awacs raygun command?

Whenever I order I get a 'no can do' I have seen how to use the IFF before but I barely know how to use the AWG otheewise. Why isnt doesnt Jester IMMEDIATELY IFF targets? He only calls out friendlies half the time.. ive chased a friendly f14 with him calling out "TARGET! 40 MILES. TARGET 30 MILES" Fired and then got close enough to see on TCS! Wtf Jester!!! Seriously this shouldnt be happening so easily - Ive taken to not using TWS in this DCE campaign OR trusting jester. I tcs targets myself unless theres NOONE anywhere near me - I had 3 fratricides where i STT'D and held lock for over 5 min unsure of whether they were hostile or not (every time they were dogfighting for their lives) Can you ask for a equivalent to - "jester - raygun" cmd? -

Hmmm... tbf I dont play multiplayer esp as it wouldnt be fair without a rio but.. I kick ass with sparrows sidewinders and guns. Last mission in my dce xampaign all 4 of my.phoenixes missed. My wingmen got all the fighters. But then a bunch of backfires took off towards the carrier group. I attacked. Got 4 to sparrows and sidewinders. Another to guns. Then the mig 23s and 25s showed up. Dmgd a 23 and killed a 25 with guns (i admit thisnwas one of my best a2a ever) before a SA3 slammed into me and ended my fun. I dont know what they did but sparrows work a lot better recently -
Ill edit this but things mostly habe worked well. Sometimes its still wildly off. Forgive me but youve helped me so much I need to ask you some broader questions please -- Tf 68 - it seems maybe 1 out of 30 agm88cs hits anything. Were GARMs really so terrible in 1986? Were rhe russiians just so good? Its ridiculous! Are mark20s bugged? Why do only my gbu 12s detonate?! Also landing. On landing mode steerpoint switched to tacan. On the vdi whats the ciurse knob? I use the carriers runway as its the heading but I dont know what Im doing... ha ha. Finally.. i thought about it I think Ill hold off buying anytning. Im pretty poor and have a kid. Besides the F14 are there going to be any F5 or F86 (i know uh1 isnt viable) campaigns with the new engine in caucauses or pg you think in the future? And also do you think I need to buy the ww2 assets? It seems to interfere with a lot of my playing.. :(

Ive beeen doing that a lot for everything. Are mark 20s bugged And why do all lgbs besides the 12 not seem to work? Finally couple.other things. On landing mode tacan button. The course knob. What course do i set the carriers? Aying the tf68 dce campaign.. the harms seem.tongitn1 out of 50 targets. Were they really THAT bad in 86??

Playingbthe DCE tf68 86 version. I cant count the dozens of harms launched. I see one outta 50 seem to hit. Its the AI using them but jesus I thought the HARM remembered enemy emitter positions?? They seem to use them waaay better against the Iranians. Whats the deal? Also are rockeyes still bugged? Please see some other questions I have on the refueling tree he turkey thread guys

Fact its true. I just need to get away from combat. I can stay reliably close to the tanker. Its the clearing to precontact and oveecorrections. And yeah i dont aim for the basket i fix a point on windscrn etc. Question - adjusting only one throttle makes it a lot easier it seems but isnt an option for me. I know about putting my wings in bomb mode. Is there anything else?

Im the one who started the thread! Im the one with the probs guys! I havent used AP thats what some dude suggested! Thanks but thats not the issue for me. I can gdt close even clear to pre contact. Ive mever actually made contact. Ive ahd the net all over the place and it woulda been smacking my canopy IRL and jester yelling Im teasing it.. But no I always seem to get close f up get frustrated and it goes quickly downhill.

God I wish I knew. Its weird it happens at low speed high AOA stuff sometimes and othertimes it seems I can get into huge mess at altitude just handling her wrong. 99 times I fly her fine. Then one day ill fly and get her in a flat spin doing the most basic $hit. These arent your regular spins either. Theyre like sideways flat spins when I get them and Im fckd. Nothing saves you and you cant gain speed. Weird stuff. And In not new at all to flight sims and have been in real planes besides airliners. Ive even had F14s do a sonic boom while I was a civvie on the CV65 for a dependents day and other cool stuff :) not that it matters a damn for the flying. Im trying to think of how I can describe it.. one easy way I noticed to really get in trouble with the F14 is using the rudder like any other plane. Dont know why, but that rudder unless used for small stuff will get you in trouble especially if youre not level. Ive had that rudder throw me out of control in banks before, gentle bank applying rudder and hell breaks loose.

Stored alignment is on. You can check that as is. Turning it off isnt the better option- you go from 5 min to 15 min startup. Just accelerate time for 2 or 3 min in game - once you hit 2 or 3 min (I can startup unassisted FAST but jester still takes at least 2 or 3 min before he fs with the INS..) So just get the key for time normal and accelerate. It only seems to do it on strike missions. You can either check your backip compass on the right side of the box under hud, (way in front) or f2 and just watch your heading.) -

Its a feature. First of all it deals with DCE but its correct - the INS and everything works great, ONCE the carrier is going on the course in the wind. Maybe IRL a pilot would know to input that before but it definitely works right- it also depends on how much carrier needs to turn. Its sorta neat. -
I die a lot but I did experience a hydraulic failure getting hit and got back to the carrier. Died trying to wave off though. I can at least tell youbwhat to do with yourbgear I lost almost all of it. 2 aphid hits 1 engine out. Plane kept making a SLAM and whinning/spinning down noise every few minutes. To get your gear down with NO pressure you pull up the little stick in left side of pilot seat. Then right click on the gear knob. Itll twist weird. The gear will drop. Id drop the hook and go from there f the rest its a emergency. Then again... idk if Id listen to me. But thats your gear problem.

Ok the groundncrew grumbles ALOT maybe half of missions! It doesnt seem to rlly hurt me as I get started quick and unplug fast.. but maybe it could mess me up? Still flying stable. Mostly flying the Tf68 campaign. The variety of sov aircraft.. theyre a more potent enemy. Shrug. I love the PG map too. Id kill for A6Es to be in :( Where in the scripts is carrier speed written in again? Also I noticed the carrier never turns for escort or other missions. Only strikes?
