Not sure if I don't know what I'm doing, but when I try to lock onto a target, it will lock for a second, but the target box moves all over the hud and then breaks lock. a second later it will show up on radar and I do the same thing. What is the problem? This happens whether I have Data Link turned on or not. Is this a bug?

I saw Wags video about setting up JDAMs, and he kind of glossed over a setting I believe it was setting velocity to 700 ft. Don't know what that means, not sure if that means you can set it other than or why you would, anyone with more information on that?
-
Right now the accuracy is within a hundred meters and JDAMs use coordinates to pinpoint the target. I believe in the future Wags said they will get the accuracy down to ten meters and not sure, but using MGRS which will be implemented down the road.

My cluster bombs don't go off, are we only allowed to use them at sea level? I set up a Mission in the mountains and tired to blow up an armored column in a Mtn pass, but they won't go off. I am not sure if 1500 ft is sea level or AGL, I can't set them higher, so I don't know if that's the problem or not.I use CCIP as the mode. I can get them to work at the caucasus abandoned air field.

From what I saw of Wags video of IFF, I'm not sure if we will no longer have auto IFF, like a diamond for hostiles and box for unknown or friendlies and we will have to interrogate all contacts from now on, is that right?

Thanx, I was afraid of that, I will have to wait until it goes on sale sometime in the distant future. :(

I have $26.00 credit form previous purchases in DCS, can I use them to buy an F-14? I noticed on the E-Shop page all the other planes have a credit amount posted, except the F-14. I was hoping I can use those credits, they say they are updating their credit program but not sure what's going on.

Actually you sound just like me. I flew Falcon and Jane's and a few years back I decided to jump into DCS, I bought the A-10c and wow, I was frustrated, I didn't know how to set up the controls and it had so many systems. I plugged away at it but because I didn't have that much free time, I couldn't really get into it and I would end up relearning things and it was frustrating. I dropped out for a few years and decided to get back into it. I watched a lot of You Tube video's and discovered how to set up my controls much better and I really enjoyed it. I have since retired and while I'm not very good, I thoroughly enjoy flying and with all the improvements, It is getting more and more fun! The only thing I suggest apart form what others have said is to create a simple mission in the mission editor and make sure the enemy skill level is set to what you're comfortable with, and as you get better you can fiddle with the skill level and also with the mission itself. It is nice to create a particular mission to work on different skill sets and as a lot of people have said, read the manuals, they are in PDF format which makes it easy to put on your phone or tablet to read away from the computer. And one last thing is enjoy it, keep it fun and you won't burn out and get frustrated. I hope you don't give up because it can really be enjoyable.

Any editing script or trick to turn on airport lights at night?
Mouse_99 replied to Frag's topic in Mission Editor
I would like a simple trigger that on approach to a certain distance, the lights would automatically turn on - for friendlies. -
The only thing for me, is at the end, I would've liked to see a few landings, that's it, a great video though!

I was thinking this is a place for Combat air sims to congregate and enjoy and share their experiences, if you think that is discriminating, sorry for you. I just find flying around doing nothing and landing again is pretty boring stuff. That's all. I'm new here, so I guess I won't comment on anything, you all win.

I probably should have said server, where civies can fly without getting shot out of the sky. or interfering with flight operations. From the responses, I must have hit a nerve, or something. Not sure why people get so testy, they need to let people know you aren't allowed to comment on anything. That would calm them down a bit.

I apologize profusely that I would make a comment, you should have let me know exactly what pleases you.

Thanks norbot, that helps!

Thanks for this, I really need help as to where I can learn basic navigation in like an F-86 or the A-4. I don't know how to read those charts or understand all those terms and localizes. I would appreciate getting steered towards a place that teaches it. Thanks!

Looking for information on navigating in the A-4, being a mod, not sure where I need to look to find out information like how to and updates. I'm used to flying modern planes so I guess I'm spoiled, need to learn basic navigation in older planes and how to find NDB's and all that sort of thing, plus hopefully there will be updates on the A-4 itself. :book:

I saw they were pre-ordering a new civilian aerobatic plane. I was surprised and disappointed. I thought this was a combat simulator but now, whomever ponies up the bucks can shop their plane here too. So sad. I can see it if they provide a map for those who don't want to fly military combat, but want to fly (I guess), when they can easily use the many other flight sims that cater to those people. I hope Eagle Dynamics do not lose their way. hey have many great products in the pipeline right now, why they would want to do this is beyond me. It can only be for the money.

I am having the same problem, I set up a Mission in the PG on an island where there is a chemical weapons plant, I used a static building with static storage tanks outside and trucks also. Not sure if I am doing it right, but I can't even get the JTAC (a Reaper Drone)to respond to me. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, or there is a bug. I think ED needs to give proper training on how to do all that you can do with the ME so people can get the most out of it, instead of getting frustrated and give up. They give you the tools, but then they don't explain how, their manual is old and brief to say the least. They should at least have several examples of how and why of things.

Since the T-51 does not have any weapons in it, there are no "instant action" missions for it. It is a free experience to fly a propeller plane in DCS. To get started > go to Mission Editor either choose a coalition or not, it doesn't matter just accept and then in the map on the left choose the aircraft icon and click on either anywhere on the map or a base. then name your unit and then on the right pop up name and choose country and aircraft type choose anything in yellow lettering and then left click around an area you want to fly. Click on waypoint zero, you have a choice (default is in the air) either leave it or choose from a listing like hot on the ramp, with the plane ready to taxi and take off, on the runway, no need to taxi, or on the ramp and you will need to start it up and taxi to take off. I am assuming you have already went into the controls menu to set up your joystick controls. There are plenty of videos and I believe there are training videos to help you get your feet wet. If you are trying the game simulation I can't help there, I have never used it. I forgot you need to choose skill level in the popup menu as player which should be in yellow in order for you to fly it. Plenty of help just go to you tube and search DCS .

On the fence I do not have FC3, and I'm thinking about waiting for MAC, but now I understand it to be a separate thing altogether, now I', not so sure that I might go with FC3. I am betting they might kill off FC3 if they can't get people into MAC, money is everything, so force them into it. I might just not bother with either.

I agree, you can switch views around, and even assign a camera on the ground . I even like using the default F-4 view. At one point, it looks like your plane is on a stick. I think there is an option to allow the view to float, that might help. Still, it's pretty good, keep it up!

A-4E directory Where is the place to go to get information for the A-4E, it is a mod, so I'm concerned about bug fixes and learning how to fly it and use the systems.
-
I was wondering if there is a dedicated A-4 page for help to trouble shoot issues? Something like the other aircraft. I know is is "just" a mod, but I think this is new ground for something as ambitious as this. Right now, I have the mod and I flew it around once checking it out, but when I came back to it, the Track IR isn't working, not sure if anyone had the same issue. I looked and it seems to be there, it worked once, and now it doesn't. Not sure what I need to do to correct this.

I wanted to redo my stick and throttle HOTAS layout for the F-18, but I forgot what is the command for the nose wheel hi gain? I was looking and looking through the commands listed and I don't see it, or don't realize that is what I want. All I see are the disable nose wheel steering. a little help here, please :)

SuperMicro is free falling

It is the opportunity tht hurts Whether SM or any other company has been victimized is irrelevant as China has control over the inner workings and the opportunity to continue working from the very basic inside position, one we knew and why most of our military are built by home grown companies. The weakness there is they also depend on getting cheap Chinese parts to fatten their bottom line and as a result exposing ourselves to foreign intrigue and manipulation. China has been doing it for decades, taking every laptop from incoming business men and doing whatever they wish to it before returning it, and now, this is just another logical step.
