  1. Still can’t maintain charge with the new cable I bought. Very frustrating as other wise the QP is great. I’m pretty sure it’s because I have an asus mobo. I can’t afford a powered hub (3.2 gen 2) till next month but then I wont be able to return it if it still won’t maintain charge. Damn it I don’t know what to do.
  2. Thank you, though you’ve got me nervous now I’ll report back with either or
  3. I’ve tried various leads in the usb ports to see if they will charge stuff (ie phone) and they will. But the link cable won’t charge the headset at all, whether I’m using it or not. The new cable arrives today, so we shall see. Im really hoping it does work.
  4. I’ve popped that in my Amazon basket, just waiting for my refund to come through for the (twice the price) Oculus one. Thanks mate.
  5. Well, major progress today thanks to you @slughead Just the charging issue to sort out now, and yeah I gotta hope a new link cable will do the trick Now I’ve seen what it can do I’d be sad to send it back. many thanks slughead.
  6. We were just checking to see if the usb ports would charge stuff. ive always had it at x2 with my G2, i was under the impression the added performance boost of the QP allowed for 4x, am i wrong again? Ok, ive done all of that and got quad view running, and yeah man it looks good! though i did up the quad view pd a bit, I can see that from a visual/performance stand point it's just the usual fine tuning now. But yeah, the charging problem. (dun dun dah!) Alas, if i cant sort that all is for naught. cue violins. So the QP will charge from the USB C port with the charging lead but not the link cable, also i can charge my phone from the USB C port. So the ports are prepared to hand over some power, just not through the link cable. again, massive thanks. oh one more minor thing, in quad view i can just make out the box moving about with my eyes, but only in the left lens, the right lens is completely seamless. normal? i have bloom etc off.
  7. I owe you a pint. I've set all of the above now through ODT, OTT is off and ive restarted the oculus service. PC: 5900x 4090 64gb ram Mobo: Asus TUF x570 pro. Just had a quick go and performance was fine (about 2ms better gpu frame time than my G2 with the same gfx settings) it deffo looks lower res than the G2. Edit: Just thought id ask, is it to be expected that the vertical FOV in the QP is less than the G2? in the F18 & G2 i can see from the top of the canopy rail to the top of the stick where as in the QP i cant even see the top of the MPCD. i also feel like i need to look up a lot of the time as if my eyes were too low compared to the screen.
  8. I get this message quite often: null
  9. First off, thanks for your patience @slughead most appreciated. I hope i got everything there. Ive tried my Iphone and it does charge from both USB C ports. The link cable is not charging the base station, last night I played for 3 hours before I was told to charge it (was 20%). I did get quad view to work last night, but for some reason it isnt working this morning. Haven’t changed anything, just booted up DCS. Eye tracking was still enabled. nullnullnullnullnull
  10. Ooo interesting, I was wondering if a powered hub would be the answer. Could I trouble you for a link?
  11. Thank you @Werewolf_fs I’m sure I’m doing something wrong regarding the gfx, but unless I can get the link cable to work as advertised the QP ain’t for me. Still, I’ve got 26 days left to try and work it out one way or another.
  12. Well after an evening of highs and lows (sadly mostly lows) I’m back for equal parts advice and therapy! TLDR: whoever thought connecting a £1k headset by USB deserves to stand in dog dirt every time they leave the house. I’ll start with the positives. The image is very nice, sweet spot is huge, and the audio is pretty good too. I’ve been able to up the gfx settings and still keep to mostly 72fps. Nice. Also the ASW is really pretty good. Now onto the moaning. Though the image is very clear the lower resolution is really quite noticeable on the HUD, reminds me of my old Rift S. The HUD looks very crisp in the G2, not so at all in the QP. I could live with that, but oh my god do the clouds look awful! The shimmering is out of control on standard and even noticeable on ultra. Still need to try quad view, perhaps that would fix the low res clouds/ HUD. Im finding the headset pretty uncomfortable after about an hour, and I’m getting eye strain in my right eye. All of the above I’m sure could be ironed out in time with enough tinkering, but that leads me to my big issue: That god damn link cable. The headset does not maintain charge, so I go from 100% to 40% in 2 hours. Also one minute it connects fine to the PC, next minute it won’t and I either get a black screen or DCS just won’t load in the headset but will on the PC. I’m in the process of getting a replacement lead but typically they are out of stock as of 5 minutes before I called (honestly). The bottom line for me is if the link cable can’t keep the headset charged then I’m going to get a refund. If it’s draining at this speed now, god knows how it’ll be in a year or two from now? (If my phone battery is anything to go by, I’d guess totally useless.) Both the USB C ports on my pc are 3.2 gen 2 (according to the mobo packaging, see pic) so I don’t know why it’s not keeping its charge. Anyway, sorry for all that blah blah blah, just had to get it off my chest. Thanks for all the great help and advice. Thanks @mimamema but I’m hesitant to use a powered lead incase I melt something.
  13. I’ve set mine to 1.3, in fact that’s the only thing I’ve changed as of now. Not sure about bitrates etc. I’ve just set 1.3 in the app and the rest is defaults. I’ll give 1.2 a go but tbh even 1.3 seems a bit low res coming from the G2 I still need to try the quad view. I know these things take a bit of bedding in, for example I feel like the screens are too far up my face, the monocle in the AH64 seems to be in a different place compared to the G2. But I haven’t seen a single person not prefer the QP to the G2 so I must be doing something wrong. As for settings in DCS I can run with 4xMSAA now though that’s the only setting I’ve changed. There’s sooo many variables when it comes to comparing performance. My only real concern at the moment is how quickly the battery drains. That could be a deal breaker.
  14. ah I see, green meaning eco? Thanks again fellas, I’ve plugged the charging lead directly into the headset and hopping that works. Having to do dad stuff so really hopping it’s charged a bit by this evening. Again big thanks for all the help and advice, without which I’d currently be sitting in a small puddle of tears.
  15. What are green settings? Or is it obvious when I’m in bios?(not somewhere I go very often) Got it connected via the port at the back now but battery is still draining pretty quickly. I’ve left it on the dock all afternoon and it didn’t charge at all, though the controllers did. I did have the link cable plugged in, but the computer was off.
  16. Thanks @Bazz_Mulder @YoYo and@slughead I do suspect something is afoot with the link cabal, checked my mobo gubbins and it says the USB C port at the back is usb 3.2 but the link cabal doesn’t seem to work in that one. Typical. Anyoo, it’s school run time so will be able to go over all the advice in more depth after the little Herberts have gone to bed.
  17. Thanks, good to know. Having just had a quick go with it, having copied the settings from @Bazz_Mulder very helpful post above I’m finding the audio is cutting out and it’s quite juddery. Was thinking this might because of the link? Would sub optimal link affect gpu frame times and/or audio? Edit. I forgot to say, the headset went from 75% charged to 25% (got a low battery warning) in about an hour of use whilst connected via the link cable, is this normal? I’m getting a bit suspicious about the cabal tbh. Also no matter how I adjust the headset the screen seems too high. Bit of a crap explanation that so I’ll try harder… For example in the AH64D I’m finding it hard to read/focus on the stuff at the top of the monocle. I’m going to need the full face mask thing, that gap at the bottom is a bit big and distracting. Got a bit of eye strain in my right eye too. Have to say I was expecting a bit more of a performance boost (probably just showing my ignorance) from 72mhz. Haven’t changed any settings in DCS from my G2, but my gpu frame times in the ah64/Syria are in the mid twenties. On the plus side Oculus asw is pretty damn good. Im out of tinkering time now, drat and blast, but I’m feeling like there is quite a bit more to be done. Still need to try quad view too. Thanks for the help.
  18. Thank god for that! I had a moment there. Thanks again, you’ve really helped me out. Im currently stuck because I can’t remember my Wi-Fi password, haha.
  19. Many Thank yous @Bazz_Mulder that is very very helpful! One quick question, my link cabal only seems to connect through the usb c port on the top of my PC not the one at the back. I find this odd as my G2 was working fine with that port. Anyhoo the one it will connect to has a bandwidth of 3.0Gbps, is that going to cut the mustard?
  20. So the kids are back at school, and I’m sat I’m my shed with my new QP in my lap but… Sorry to be a pain but could someone point me to a post with the settings I should have for my QP? Ive read all 14 pages 3 times now, and I’m just getting myself more confused. I’ve owned a rift and a rift S and use to use the Oculus Debug Tool, never tried the Tray Tool. Are they essentially the same thing? System: 5900x 4090 64gb Ram. Its Monday morning so I fully understand if I get told to do one
  21. Thank you, wanted to check before I opened it.
  22. I’d love a Speed and Angels but for the Hornet. Im getting the “I’ve just spent a lot of money” jitters, is this the correct lead?
  23. I’ve not really played any of the campaigns apart from the first mission of the Big Show by Reflected. Probably more things flying about in that mission alone than my average Liberation missions. Good news indeed! It would be nice not to need to buy a new PC every couple of years.
