Wait, so, will I have a choice, or will it just update and go to Standalone by itself? I just have FC3 and the Ultimate Argument for Steam, so it should all be transferable. One more thing: how much space will it use? More than 1.5 and 2.2 put together? Because I'm hoping it will actually help free up space on my computer, I can't afford much more memory dedicated to DCS.

Nice idea, good luck, but I don't think I'd pay money for a fictional map. A user-made map of a real place is a different story, though.

I have 1.5.8 stable on Steam, and 2.2.0 Open Alpha on Standalone. Is it possible for me to have 2.5.0 on Standalone, even though my 1.5 is Steam?

I'd like to see a Su-24M. Ideally, a Su-30MKM or Su-35S would be nice, though.

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
FlankerMan replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Definitely either Su-24M "Fencer-D", Su-30SM3 "Flanker-C", Su-35S "Flanker-E", or maybe MiG-35 "Fulcrum-F". -
I know that, I meant Flanker variant that's used as a fighter (the Su-34 can use the R-77, but it's mainly strike/SEAD/anti-ship). The Fulcrum-C is nice, but unfortunately it can't carry any R-73s with all those '77s. Still, it's a nice little brother to the Flanker family.

Just for fun, future aircraft module wishlist
FlankerMan replied to FlankerMan's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yeah, the MiG-23/27 are pretty cool. And an old '16 might be interesting to set up missions for, as well. One that I forgot to add (thought it would have been at the expense of another option) was the Su-24M "Fencer-D". It's a really cool strike/SEAD aircraft, and it looks sleek and can go supersonic, very much unlike the ol' Frogfoot. -
As above. I particularly like the Tornado and Flanker variants.

Nice guide! Really helpful! Just a couple questions: 1-When engaging multiple bandits in BVR combat, do I press the fire button repeatedly, or hold it down, like in the MiG-29S? 2-How do I lock them? Do I press the lock key, or does it automatically do it after a few seconds?

Next DCS (European) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
FlankerMan replied to Busterbvi's topic in DCS Core Wish List
For me, definitely the Dassault Rafale C/M, or the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4, or the Tornado GR.4/F.3. -
Hello, everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but it seemed appropriate. It's kind of hard to know, because it's an AI only aircraft so far. Anyways, I thought that since I really like the Su-30, and I imagine some others here do to, I thought I'd start one. So, anything is welcome, including screenshots, experiences, and thoughts, but please try to keep stuff clean, and generally focused on the '30. Now, I was thinking: is it really fair to use the in-game Su-30? I'm pretty sure it's the Su-30MK, and I don't think that the MK was ever made a production model. Any thoughts? If I'm right, than it means that the J-11A is the only fighter variant in-game with the R-77.

Hello, everybody! I own FC3, and I know the MiG-29S and Su-27S pretty well, but I was wondering a few things about the F-15C, as I'm not very good with it, but would like to become so. 1-At what speed do I take off? There aren't any training missions/tutorials for it, and the cockpit gives knots, not the km/h I'm used to. Also, I usually swerve and crash on the runway. Any way to avoid this? 2-How can I tell how much fuel I have left? I'm not used to all the dials, because the Russian jets have a simpler vertical bar fuel indicator. 3-Lastly, after the AIM-120 countdown has ended, should I keep the target locked as long as I can (obviously I'm free to turn away to avoid a missile), or will it not make a difference?
-
Yeah, I reenabled it, and the Su-27 had a pilot, but the MiG-29S didn't. I guess I've got about all the information I need. Just one quick thing: Is it more advantageous in a MiG-29S to have 4 R-73s+2 R-77s, or 2 R-73s+4 R-77s, or 2 R-27ERs+2 R-73s+2 R-77s, or, lastly, 2 R-27ETs+2 R-73s+2 R-77s?

Okay, I watched the track, and it's very impressive, but I have a couple questions: 1-Was there any trick to what you did? You were flying lower, and I think slower, than the enemy. 2-Unrelated, but how come I can't get the pilot body to show up in my cockpit? I also set a new speed record: 2,000km/h IAS.
-
Um, how exactly do I open the track? It always wants me to look for it in the app store.
-
I'm talking TAS...How'd you manage 2,150km/h??! Was the computer yelling 'maximum speed'? By the way, do you have labels off in that first picture, or are you really getting LA that far from the target?
-
1,620km/h!!! Not really related, but I just hit 1,620km/h in the MiG-29S! Of course, the canopy was off, no external stores were being carried (not even ammo, chaff, or flares), the landing gear, flaps, and airbrake were all retracted, the computer was yelling 'maximum speed' at me, and afterwards, either the engines turned off, or I ran out of fuel (which would also result in them turning off). Still, I think 1,620km/h counts! Do any of you agree?

A couple quick questions: 1-Would carrying 6 RVV-AEs, instead of 2 R-73s and 4 R-77s, be an okay loadout? Y'now, to get more bandits at BVR? 2-Is trying to engage 2 targets, as long as they're not competent fighters (like, say, UAVs, bombers, attack aircraft) be worth it?
-
Okay, I think I've got it! I've been able to make several kills, some of them BVR, with the RVV-AE. Again, is there a way to tell how many chaff and flares I have left in the MiG-29S?
-
How come the R-77 is so short-ranged? And, how come it's not as good as the AMRAAM? One last thing: I have a book that says the R-77 can go 80km, when the in-game encyclopedia says 50km, and the actual range is more like 25km. Why all the difference?
-
Okay, I think I've got it. So, speed is actually a touch more important than altitude? One more thing: is it possible, in the MiG-29S, to tell how many chaff/flares are left?

The SU-30 FAMILY PROJECT is Back
FlankerMan replied to Gizmondo's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Um, any updates? I haven't heard from anybody (except happy cavin) in a while. How's it going? Just a side note: what sort of top speed at high level are you guys giving the Su-30MKI/MKA/SM? I think it's supposed to be around Mach 1.9, which brings this to mind: why does the built-in DCS Su-30MK (I'm pretty sure it's MK) have a top speed at high level of Mach 2.35? I think it's actually Mach 2.0, like the Su-30MKK/MK2/M2. I don't know anything about modding, and I doubt you'd need me, but I'd be happy to look in my books and online and try to do some research on the real things, if you want. -
Okay, thanks for all the tips. I guess my current plan of action is to launch at a significantly higher altitude and speed (emphasis on altitude, and only as much more as I can actually manage) than my target, and to keep it locked the entire length of missile flight, even if I have to turn away to avoid a missile (which may result in losing lock, but at least it still has a chance of hitting). One more thing: how do I engage two targets at once?
-
I have a quick MiG-29S afterburner questions, to. Does the jet have any afterburner lights? As in, is there any way to tell if afterburner is on without going to external view?
-
A couple more things: 1-How can I find screenshots I've taken? 2-How come the logbook doesn't record multiplayer stats?
