Hello, everyone! I thought this would be the right place to put this, as it's sort of chit-chatish. Anyways, I was wondering what you guys do with your logbook. Do you have multiple personas? Do you ever delete personas? How do you start out, when deaths look like a big deal, when there aren't very many kills beside them? As of right now, I just have one guy, and I've had plenty in the past that I've deleted for some reason or another. My current one is relatively new, just with stats from doing Fortress Mozdok again, as well as a few Su-33 flights. So, just asking for thoughts, as I like to always have a clean sheet, but I also like to have some old records. Do any of you have a different guy for each aircraft? Once I did that, though not right now. By the way, one thing I like to do to keep a clean record is if I get shot down, but I'm still alive (as in, I can now eject), I just exit the mission, and the death/ejection won't show on my logbook, because it didn't actually happen!

So, my BVR shots are just to keep them busy until I can get a WVR shot?
-
Um, er, I don't want to sound like an idiot, but what's NEZ?

A couple new ones: Su-27: 1,880km/h IAS Su-33: 1,770km/h IAS Feel free to chime in, anyone.

Unfortunately, I think this is just a private mod only for use by X-Stounds. Also, I think the project by Gizmondo and Skatezilla is going to be private, as well. I'd love to have a Su-30SM, just look as my signature (I want a Su-35S more, though, as evidenced by the picture), but I don't think there are any available. Maybe someday, after I've gotten out of school and learned to mod, I'll make a free, public one, but right now, that's just a dream. After all, I have no idea how to mod ( in fact, I don't even have a mod-launching/making program), and I'm still in algebra!

Hello, everyone! I was wondering what the best DCS FC3 fighter is for BVR. I know that the Su-27S is best for WVR, because of PFM, R-73, and sustained turn rates (the non-PFM MiG-29S doesn't have much G-tolerance, and the Su-33 can't turn as fast), and I know that in real life the F-22A, F-35A, Su-35S, and Su-57 rule. But, what about between the DCS F-15C, MiG-29S, Su-27S, and Su-33? I have the most experience with the Su-27S, but I'm imagining that can carry over to the Su-33. I'm not that bad with the MiG-29S, but I rarely ever score BVR kills. I don't fly the F-15C very much, but the AIM-120s are quite good (I think). Now, a few aircraft-specific questions: F-15C Eagle: I'd like to know how to get a higher kill probability with the AIM-120. MiG-29S "Fulcrum-C": I can't afford to use more than 2 (or preferably more than 1) missile per kill, so how do I make the R-77 work up to its full potential? Su-27S "Flanker-B": How can I get BVR kills with just 2 ERs or 1 ER and 1 ET? Su-33 (Su-27K) "Flanker-D": I can afford to use 3 R-27ERs per kill (though I wish I didn't have to), but they ALL usually miss. What am I doing wrong? And now a few questions about the missiles: 1-Why is it that the R-27ER is longer-ranged, when the AIM-7 burns longer? 2-Ever since learning the MiG-29S, I'd always thought the AIM-120 was better than the R-77, yet some people think otherwise. Why?

Yeah, at least 2 more Su-27s would help. I still think that weaving around the mountains would help, but you would have to fly so low you couldn't engage the bandits until WVR. Another idea is to keep wingman 2, and only tell 3 and 4 to engage the enemy, so at least you'd have someone to help.
-
Su-33 "Flanker-D": 1,630km/h IAS in level flight, followed by a dive, then more level flight.
-
I see...Well, you could try just not telling them to engage, so they follow you down, and then those that survived can help you in the dogfight. By the way, where are you? Nevada or Caucasus? What part of them? If you're in the Caucasus, over mountains, missiles dodging is a lot easier, as you can just weave around the mountains.
-
Unfortunately, the game keeps crashing on me. I'll try more later, but my advice for now is to dispatch your wingmen, then get low, very low, and stay low until they've come close enough for a dogfight. Obviously, you'll still have to dodge missiles, and you can fire back, if you like, but I say just lure them into the arena of combat where you can kill them easily.
-
Hmm...I've never been in a situation like that. I'll try it right now, but are you referring to a particular engagement, or just in general?
-
Well, I wish ED was working on a combat aircraft (preferably a relatively modern Russian fighter), but I suppose I can't really make them give up the Yak-52. I don't think I'll buy it, though.

Fortress Mozdok Campaign - "Incursion" mission unplayable
FlankerMan replied to Pizzicato's topic in General Bugs
Just go into the mission planner, then fly the mission. You don't even have to move anything, just make sure you don't exit the campaign, or you'll have to do that again. -
Thanks! I can also try things out on my own, if anyone wants.

Hello, everyone! I think this might be a better place to put this, as opposed to the 'How To' section. Anyways, I in no way consider myself an expert, but I have a fair amount of experience with the DCS FC3 Su-27S "Flanker-B", and I'm happy to offer any help/advice I can. I don't really know how to set up good missions or servers, so I can't exactly help anyone by flying with them, but I'll help as much as I can with this discussion. I've also done Fortress Mozdok twice, so I can offer advice on that, if anyone wants. I use labels, and I've never done the Ultimate Argument, but ask away if you want advice!

MiG-31 "Foxhound". I know, I know, but there are too many other cool jets. Still, R-33s are something good if you're on the red side, so I'd certainly welcome it as well!

Look, guys, I'm not trying to be obnoxious or redundant, I'm just voicing my wishes and opinions. If you don't even like that, I'll try to be more considerate.

The SU-30 FAMILY PROJECT is Back
FlankerMan replied to Gizmondo's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I understand everything now, thanks for clearing things up. I'd love to fly it, but still just seeing the Su-30MKI/MKA/SM in DCS would be cool. BTW, Skatezilla, in the 'User Files' section of DCS.com you can search within parameters, and paid/free is one of the options, even though no prices are listed anywhere. Why, then, do you say no mods are even allowed to be paid? Not saying you're wrong, just confused. -
ED e-shop and 2.5 campaing compatibilty: warning
FlankerMan replied to Jolk's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Yeah, but I don't have my Steam DCS anymore, because my computer doesn't have the memory to have 2 DCSs. Why isn't it standalone compatible? I bought FC3 on Steam, and it transferred over just fine. -
ED e-shop and 2.5 campaing compatibilty: warning
FlankerMan replied to Jolk's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Say, I have a 2.5 related campaign question. I bought the Su-27: Ultimate Argument through Steam, back before 2.5 existed, and now it isn't available. I thought it used a Starforce key, how can I get it back? I'd like to try it now, but I don't want to buy the whole thing again. -
Must...Have...Su-30... Or any other R-77 using Flanker variant. Sometime soon, at least...If we don't get one in the next 1-2 years, I think I'm going to :cry::cry::cry:
