The bounce in the DCS P-51 is not at all realistic - I have a lot of taildragger time in planes from Cubs to DC-3's and wheel landings in real life, are NOTHING like what's portrayed in the DCS P-51 This in my opinion is the one thing ED hasn't come close to getting right yet.

You know guys, if ED had just announced that they were getting out of the flight simulation market all together to start making Xbox type games you would have something to bitch about. If you don't like what they're doing then go out and buy one of the other high fidelity flight simulations that's available on the market.......... Oh wait a minute - THERE AREN'T ANY! If you don't want it don't buy it. If on the other hand you understand that supporting ED in this limited market helps continue the expansion of what has become not only the best, but the ONLY high fidelity realistic flight simulation on the market, then buy it and give it to someone or put it in a drawer and forget about it, but support the effort if you don't want to see ED flight simulations go the way of the Jane's series, FA-18, Falcon 4 and all the other great flight simulations of the past? Where are they now? How many of them are still supported by their original publishers? We don't need ED to drop this stuff to become another Wii game developer.

set up a good cross-wind somewhere and do touch and go's - that's a blast too!
-
If you have wind, 1200 works well to and you don't get as much drift
-
If you need to jettison fuel, go find a Shrika to put some holes in your wings - works great! :D
-
The airfield you are on needs to have some friendly ground troops placed on it so it is controled by your coalition. If the airfield is classified as "neutral" in the F10 view, you won't be able to get a response from the ground crew there.

After patches we have to do everything different
ronht replied to vortex360's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I just don't understand all the complaining. I've been involved in flight simulations for a very long time. Look at where all the great titles of the past have gone. The Janes Series, Falcon 4, all the flight simulations, that attempted to give us something more in depth than an X-box experience are gone. No longer supported by their corporate sponsors - why? In my opinion, internet forums and the need for so many people to complain, because, I guess they feel it empowers them somehow. Complaints over flight simulations have, in my opinion, led developers to move to the simplistic X-box approach, because every X-box is the same, they don't have to make it realistic and put up with all the complaints. Less complaints means more money and less realistic flight simulations. I guess to sum it up, if you don't want the complexity of a simulation, then buy an X-box and be happy. Life is too short to get this riled up over something like this. OK that was more than my 2 cents worth -
I'd dearly love to see this team do the Harrier

What I've done that seems to be more "real world" like is to create a flight plan for the SEAD flight using one or more waypoints that gets them in range of the SAMs. Make sure one of the waypoints is outside the SAM engagement area. Now in the ME, using the Advance Waypoint Actions, add "Perform Task" - "Orbit" to that point with a "Stop Condition" User flag number (be sure to use a flag number not already in use.) Now in the triggers. Set "On Mission Start" then in the Action column choose "Add Radio Item" put any text you want in the text area ie. "Cleared Hot to engage SAM's" add the "Flag" number that you set in the "Stop Condition" before and set the Coalition to the same side as the SEAD flight. Now on Mission start, under F10 in the "Other" comm menu you will have a numbered selection "Cleared Hot to engage SAM's" that you can select to get your SEAD flight to stop orbiting and continue on their original flight path. As long as their actions was set to SEAD for the flight, they will engage any threats along the route. One other thing you can do is in the Triggers, do a "Once" Flag Is True (number you chose for the stop condition and radio item) "Send Msg to Coalition" set your coaltion color and then enter the message ie. "SEAD flight pushing from holding pattern" What that does is give you confirmation that they are on the way. Hope that helps.

I just noticed this error in the "In the Weeds" mission after replying to the "Advise when ready for remarks and further talk on" call. If you reply to that, the JATAC continues on normally, there just isn't any audio at that point. Sorry for the quality of the pic, I had to put it in windows mode to get the screen shot.

ED, Thanks for your efforts, they are greatly appreciated. One only has to look at where the great flight simulations of the past have gone, to easily understand the marketing necessary to keep this great line going. I have one important request that I'd gladly pay $40 dollars for. That would be a "whining filter" that we could use to dump the pages of unnecessary horse-hockey bitching over the price of something that they personally wouldn't have worked an hour on for free. I mean really, if you don't want to pay for it, then don't buy it. Seems like a pretty simple concept to me. Thanks again for the great work, you'll have my $20 bucks as soon as I return home and my continued support for your future work, including my $40 dollars for that "whining filter"

CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!
ronht replied to kingneptune117's topic in Chit-Chat
One of the things that has made the DCS series so successful, in my opinion, beyond it's realism,, is the "in your face" action provided by the A-10 and Black Shark platforms in the DCS environment. That's one of the reasons I believe a Harrier would fit so well in this sim. Personally, I don't get that much excitement out of locking up a blip on a radar screen and launching a weapon beyond visual range which is how most of today's modern fighters are employed and quite honestly, thats one reason Falcon and LockOn don't get that much play time on my computer any more. To each his own, one things for sure, whatever they do based on what they've given us in Black Shark and A-10, they can count on my to buy it. -

One aircraft not mentioned here is the Harrier. It would fit into the current realm of the simulation modeled around Black Shark and A-10 and it's not as classified or overly done in the sim world as the others. The Harrier, would allow close -off airport operations in the simulation and add a uniqueness not found in anything else available today. I'd love to see what DCS could do with the Harrier. -
Get shot or fragged by a missile - land - shut the engines down and wait for the ground crew to fix you. I think it'd be cool to have a command to open all the hatches once we're shut down - and after my last few missions a way to get towed off the runway as well!

Hi guys, I've looked but have been unable to find any detailed information on how to use a lot of the available commands, conditions and scripts in the Mission Editor. Is there a manual or any documentation on this available anywhere? Thanks in advance.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
ronht replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'd love to see what DCS could do with a Harrier simulation. To me, it fits within the close-combat aspects of both A-10 and Black Shark. -
OK - The final release is FAN-FRIGGEN-TASTIC but.......... I miss the Blue Screen of Death, I used to get every 5 mins or so in Falcon 4 - I mean, when am I ever going to get a break from A-10 to go to the kitchen and get something to eat? Also, my dog doesn't even know I have new software installed, he's used to me trying to kick him out of frustration with first release simulations, but instead he's lying here asleep like this is a game with post-release patch # 4 or #5 installed. What do you expect me to do with the hours I don't have to spend trying to get this software to run? Do you have any idea of the To-Do List my wife has waiting for me? And PLLLLEASE........ don't expect me to have to read anything, I want this to work the way I want it to work! Who cares about realism, I only want to be able to tell people who don't know anything about it how real it is! ED this has GOT to STOP - first Black Shark and now A-10 both released in the most stable form of any previous flight simulation with few if any problems. Not only have you set the bar for flight simulations WAY too high for anyone to follow, you have diminished my self importance of spending countless hours fighting with my computer to get a few mins of stable game run. What's next, releasing this on Apple? Please for the love of us PC geeks that have nothing better to do with our lives - have a little mercy with your next non-buggy release. :D OK - the above was written in humor, my hat's off to ED for producing what is by far some of the greatest simulation software on the face of the planet. Thank you!

With all due respect I don't understand the attitude you are taking over this. Not all of us who support ED have the opportunity to spend time here every day and no, 24 hours is not always enough. A simple message by the moderator stating as an example - this thread was moved to the Forum and Sites Issues area would be a common courtesy to those of us who don't always have a lot of time to spend here. That's all I was suggesting.
-
I was thinking of it more as a courtesy really. I don't mind that things are moved, it would just be nice to know where so you can go right to it. ron
-
When threads are moved, could we please be told where they have been moved to so we don't have to go on a wild goose chase every time? Thanks in advance.

I've found that Force Alternate Frame Rendering 2 gives the best results with SLI

What keys are you using for TIR on/off and recenter?
ronht replied to Bahger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Arrow Up = Recenter Arrow Down = On/Off Then clear them in the options control area of the sim as you don't need them if you have a joystick. The other two arrow keys - left and right can be used for the rest -
Well unfortunately, this thread is turning into more of a head-butting contest than a discussion on what actually occurs in the real world so I'll leave you guys to discuss it as you wish.

I was referencing the organized flight levels - we're talking about different issues and there are many different variables depending on the country. The point is that not everybody does it the same way.
