that was quick! thanks for the support

thanks for posting photos. Whenever I pull mod assets out of my private dev build to recode and bundle as a standalone for public release, I worry that I missed something or broke something in the process. photos help me see if the standalone is working properly.

I decided I needed to add a Russian ISR plane to the collection, so here it is. As a bonus, I am also including civilian and C2 variants. ======== Available now. Download link is in the first post ======== Tupolev Tu-204/214 variants (AI only) The Tupolev Tu-204/214 (Russian: Туполев Ту-204) is a twin-engined medium-range narrow-body jet airliner capable of carrying 210 passengers, designed by Tupolev and produced by Aviastar-SP and Kazan Aircraft Production Association The Tu-214R (NATO: "Mullet") is a special mission version of the Tu-214 commercial transport aircraft, developed under the codename ‘Project 141’, to replace the Il-20 Coot ELINT platform. Designed to loiter in a friendly or uncontested airspace at high altitude and at safe distance from targets or along the border of a country under surveillance, the Tu-214R is configured to carry sensor packages to perform ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) and SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) missions. The MRC-411 multi-intelligence payload also includes side-looking Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and other Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Communications Intelligence (COMINT). This mod includes 2 selectable aircraft type in the Mission Editor (with additional variants selectable by using liveries): - Tu-204/214 - Tu-214R Included are various liveries, by plane: Tu-204/214 (CLP) - RUS Redwings Airline (Tu-204-100B) - RUS Rossiya Special Flight Squadron (Tu-214PU) - RUS Tu-214ON RF64519 (Open Skies) - RUS Tu-214ON RF64525 (Open Skies) -RUS Tu-214PU SBUS 64529 Tu-214R (CLP) - RUS Russian Air Force 64511 - RUS Russian Air Force 64514 Notes: The planes will be alphabetically listed with the C's (Cowboy's Livery Pack Tu-204/214). As always, this is my artistic representation based on photos of the actual aircraft / my modeling skills, and not necessarily 100% accurate. =========================== USE AT YOUR OWN RISK Installation: unzip the files and copy the entire contents of the 'Mods' folder in the zip file to your DCS user files folder, example: C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\ (You should end up with a "CLP_TU214" folder under Mods/aircraft, example: "C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft\CLP_TU214\") ===== To UNINSTALL: simply delete the "CLP_TU214" folder from the above location (Do NOT delete the entire 'Mods' folder as this will remove any other mods you may have installed) =========================== Changelog: v1.2.0123 (2023-01): Fixed bug preventing proper display of 64514 livery and aircraft configuration v1.1.1215: Added 4 variants and respective liveries, incl: Tu-214ON and Tu-214PU-SBUS types v1.0.1115: Initial Public Release

Blender wont export Collision model anymore
prccowboy replied to T-Pap's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
no issues here. Blender 3.3; Exporter 1.08; latest OB. collision model shows up correctly in Modelviewer -
usual suspects: bad cable (pinch point on headset is a big contributor to this), or bad /not enough capacity power supply. When running G2, you will be pushing your gpu to the limit and it will need a lot of good clean power. If your PSU isn't up to the task, strange things may happen (ex: I was actually popping breakers, so I'd be flying and suddenly lose all power to the room in my house. I upgraded my PSU to higher capacity and it stopped happening) edit: I'd start with the cable and if that doesn't fix it, consider whether your PSU is up to the task

no need to replace the original textures, just make a custom livery and put all your new textures there

lol, next you'll tell me there's a drinking game associated with my mods. I know a few that may have the Tupelov on their cards because I got the idea from some community requests. BTW, @LanceCriminal86 I know I said doubtful to the A-3, but the idea is slowly growing on me. "Never say never again" Unfortunately, I didn't plan ahead very well. I intended to do a few variants of the 204/214 but I just realized that the 3d mesh that I created so far isn't conducive to shared parts, so I need to rip up the model and redo wings, gear bay, fuselage, etc. (and UV maps, textures, etc.)

AFAIK, there are a bunch of really good A-3 models "out there." It is a relatively famous and popular airframe that gets a lot of attention. I suspect that someone will acquire a model and port it to DCS at some point. Hopefully, your post will inspire someone to do it sooner than later. as for me, I've stated before that I mod as an educational hobby to develop new skills and I usually focus on subject matter that nobody else is doing (no point in wasted effort if someone else is already doing it, and probably doing it better than I can do). Usually that means I choose subject matter that I think is lacking in DCS, is less mainstream but also that I want for my own personal use. It also means I start from scratch, and it takes a long time and much effort to make a single mod. This is my long-winded way of saying I doubt that I will personally take on the A3. I do agree that it would be nice to have, but it probably won't be me doing it. Here is my current project as an example to illustrate what I said above: This is what it looked like 3 weeks ago (first shaping of the fuselage in Blender) This is what it looks like today after 3 weeks of effort but still less than 50% complete (in game check to find problems in the UV texture map) BTW, in case anybody is wondering, it's supposed to be a "Mullet"

AFAIK, you can make it not transparent (change the alpha layer in the texture), but it will not look (or behave - ie shadows) exactly like the "skin part" because the object uses a glass material not a solid. (think frosted glass vs. brick)

edit: the 2012 livery is one of my favorites it's on my long list of to-do's, but there are a few options: 1. If you want a "template" you can PM me and I will give you a simple paint kit (note: I haven't updated the "public" paint kit for the 1.1 version changes, but the Venezuelan livery would be on a dash 02 variant which I don't think would be impacted much anyway by the updates) (or) 2. Maybe one of the other livery artists here will take on the challenge (but I probably have an advantage for camo liveries since I made the 3d source files and UV's which will make the texture matching easier) (or) 3. wait until I get around to it. this may be hours, days or months depending on when I decide to take a break on pushing around vertices on my current project (I don't know how everyone else does it, but I'm always surprised at how much effort it takes me to make one of these mods)

looks good. Is that a speculative livery or did you find a proposed design somewhere? thanks for posting. I always enjoy seeing how people are using the assets (even though I cringe every time I look at that E-7 model - I only see all the flaws in my work)

glad to see you found the problem; hopefully you didn't introduce other problems with the fix (ie. collision, flight characteristics, etc.); but then, welcome to modding

M-28 Skytruck / An-28 "Cash" has been updated to v1.1.1007; including a "fix" to the damage model to prevent the floating props when the engine is destroyed (among other bug fixes and additions). The update also includes a new livery for the An-28, the Ukrainian Antonov Airlines UR-NTE. The plane was in the news earlier this year, so I included it for anybody wanting to have the livery in one of their scenarios.

My custom unit does not exist in dcs world.
prccowboy replied to frogyyy's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
do you have an entry lua? did you: add_surface_unit(GT) do you have any error in the logs? -
wrong assumption. DCS will allow you to start from a parking space that it will later determine to be too small to park. The info to your fix has already been provided to you. Check the 380 code, the C5 and your own code for the variables I stated above. I strongly suspect that you will find that the one which is not "disappearing" has a smaller value in a key variable
-
just because it looks correct in blender doesn't mean that the model matches what you see. you may need to APPLY what you did before you export the model edit: oh, and I suggest applying transform to the armature BEFORE you parent anything to it... (and before you start rigging and animating)
-
check that you applied all transformations to mesh and armature

[resolved] AAR ready lights not working?
prccowboy replied to prccowboy's topic in Problems and Bugs
whatever the problem was that I was experiencing, it seems to be fixed in 2.7.18.30765 -
it's been almost a year since I did my AI helo's. I can't remember doing anything other than those lines in the lua. maybe the InternalCargo section impacted the sling capacity? I will go back and take a look to see if anything jogs my memory

did you set helicopter_hook_pos?

Thanks for contributing. It appears this solution is essentially an appearance change. The torpedo behavior remains similar to the "unsuitable" WWII variant that I included in the mod release (UNGUIDED airdrop, low level deployment) I look forward to a solution that combines the air drop mechanics with a guided torpedo. Until then, I am personally sticking with the LTF-5B as it is "clean and simple"
