Received my XR-3 last week and getting it set up. Having a bit of issue with Masking for MR. I use a couple MFDs for the F-16 and also with paper guides I make up (pic is for DCS BF-109) to give me a ton of extra buttons. The issue is I want to be able to turn the mask on/off while flying and the Varjo Labtools app must be the program in-focus in windows for the masking on/off hot key to work. Wondering if i'm missing something simple or if it's just not possible. Maybe creating a chroma key setup behind these screens would work? Any hints would be appreciated! You are using Varjo Foveated, not mbuccia's Quad-views, correct? I would also uninstall XRTK, I see it's disabled but (for me) I would eliminate it as a potential issue. I'm being told (pre-delivery) that the Varjo Labtools masking tool works horribly in DCS, are many here using something else? I keep seeing "Virtual Desktop" pop up, but think it's for other headsets. Will it work well with the XR-3? I mostly just want to mask out a rectangle on my desk containing MFD/ICP/MFD and possible KB below, be able to see to push buttons/keys... nothing crazy Is it possible to run DCS in SteamVR and use Steam's Reality mixer? Just saw a video (MSFS) of a guy using it with the XR-3...

Breathing life into this after a year as my XR-3 (if it ever leaves customs) arrives soon. I'm looking for the best visuals in the latest DCS 2.9 version out now, will start another thread on best way to mixed reality..

Wanted to try different settings to optimize my VR and 2D experience in both the \bin-MT\DCS.exe and standard \bin\DCS.exe (need to run standard at times). What shows up under "1. Select a program to customize:" is "Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark (dcs.exe)" with no indication of a path. I can find both other exe's under the "Add" button pulldown, but it will not add them. No error, just nothing happens when you hit "Add Selected Program". I guess the question is, will just selecting the current option will the settings apply to all DCS exe's?

Did that, still is populating (duplicating) axis assignments to most of the controllers. Only way I see around it is to "Disable" the categories I don't want auto-populated. Even when I save and Load a settings file, it just does it again by itself...

I am having similar issues, don't really have a "cockpit" but run a TM HOTAS, MFG pedals, 2 MFDs (TM frames) and an ICP, which shows as 7 different controllers. I save the setups (after clearing out all the garbage) for each plane but DCS keeps re-assigning things like views, rudder controls, fire controls, etc etc. across many of the devices.. Very odd behavior.

If I played it much or had a lot of missions/campaign progress I would have, but after being away for some time and having startup issues I recently did a fresh install from scratch of the newest version, so really had nothing I cared about. Also the saved Control settings for individual planes was/is messed up so that had to be done from ground up also..

Thanks, the openbeta was last used mid-June, the standard had todays date, dumped openbeta. Now if I can just get the controls set up to stop self-assigning bindings...

You get sorted out? Also wanter to post what the solution was for me, and now I can run triples with the XR-3 plugged in.. For anyone here that wants/needs to run dual or triples with the VR/XR-3 plugged in, I was led to a great, easy (and relatively cheap) solution. For my triples I leave the center (main) DP monitor plugged in to the 4090. For the outside two DP monitors I just received a StarTech.com USB 3.0 to Dual DisplayPort 4K60 DisplayLink External Graphics Adapter. Plugged the outer 2 monitors in, instant success and both in the full native resolution of 2560x1440 @ 144hz. Looks like it will work great..

Likely something i'm doing wrong, don't see it from the manual so figured I would ask here. I have 7 "controllers columns", including 2 MFDs, an ICP (with virtual joystick, so makes 2 columns), TM HOTAS throttle and JStick and MFG Rudder pedals. I set up a different profile for each aircraft, in this instance the F-86F. Save the profile in the default folder. Load the profile and check it, there are a bunch of duplicate entries in the columns of equipment not being used (for that plane) and it causes all kinds of strange behavior in flight. Why is it not saving/loading what I created and making it's own assignments?

As a new Varjo XR-3 owner (arrives next week if customs doesn't mess me up) I was pointed to this thread by peeps on the Varjo Discord. I was also curious about the leg-switch used in the video. Funny the Point-CTRL mention, as I have had one on order since December of 2022. He has been busy producing them this year (Covid destroyed his parts supply chain for a while I believe). He is up to producing 10/01/2022 orders, so it's really a two year wait at best. Odd that dburne was last to post here (RIP Don), had a lot of conversations with him about my Aero in the past, great guy. An FYI, the XR-3, which was ~ $6k, required you own a business and also required ~$800 a year software subscription, is available at a US distributor to consumers (no idea for how long) for $3999, lifetime software subscription included (unlocked).. still not "cheap" but substantially discounted!

One of the reasons I went with the XR-3 (unlocked, lifetime software subscription included, deeply discounted) was the possibilities Mixed Reality gives for the use of my physical MFDs, ICP, etc., hand tracking for flipping virtual switches, etc. My eyes are bleeding looking through YT video reviews, none of which really do an in-depth use of MR while flying. Would love to hear from someone using an XR-3 or XR-4 in DCS with MR, or point me to a review! This is the ONLY YT video I could find showing DCS in MY on an XR-3...

Edit: Spent quite a bit of time reading/asking questions on the Varjo Discord. Contrary to what you stated above, I was told (by everyone) that the XR-3 counts as 3 monitors, which allows you to keep one external monitor running. Guess I won't know for certain until I plug it in! I'm REALLY hoping the 5090 removes the antiquated "4 monitor" limit...
